Anyone watched the first episode?

Isabela Merced is good, yeah but I don't think she steals every scene at all! Because Bella Ramsey is outstanding. It is quite disgusting how the poor girl has been attacked and criticised online (Reddit etc) by (male I presume) viewers, probably those who have played the game previously. They've decided that Bella is not pretty enough in their eyes and obviously the main purpose of the character is to titilate them(!) If the character of Ellie were male there would be no issue of course.

I think her looks are fine and it's horrible that this very young woman and brilliant actor has felt forced to come off social media to protect herself.

The scene where Ellie plays guitar and sings 'Take on Me' is so beautiful and touching. Great acting by both Bella and Isabela, and Bella's singing is lovely.

I was delighted to see Jeffrey Wright, he’s bloody marvellous. Such a voice!

The scene at the subway was terrifying, I could barely breathe. The speed and ferocity, and Ellie putting herself in harms way for Dina…

Great stuff. The scar faced zealot people are creepy as hell.

Loved the Take on Me scene, it was beautiful.

I’m finding it a little hard to get that interested in the side plot of the Seraphites and the new Isaac guy. Feels a bit like they’re just padding out the Ellie revenge story, but maybe all will become clear in the next couple of eps!

Agree the Take on Me scene was gorgeous. Love the acoustic version that A-Ha do and Bella Ramsey absolutely nailed it.

Is it only me who though eps 4 was a bit boring?

I wasn't wowed by it at all. I suppose episode two had so much happening and the demise of Joel came so early in the season, that I am expecting the whole season to be gripping. But it doesn't seem to be the case.

I don't even feel that I have to watch the next episode right away on Monday now, and that I might just wait and watch a few in a row.

I hope someone will come along and tell me I am wrong, but I've really lost all eagerness to carry on to be honest.

Apparently it is. My son, who has played the game, was waiting for it. He said it was considered cringily funny and wondered if it would be taken out.

I did wonder, when Ellie and Dina got together, whether Ellie can pass the zombie fungus on. I guess not and I am pretty sure I remember her biting people.

In their shoes I would hightail it out of there, what with a weird cult, a war plus zombies, but it would be a boring series!

Out of curiosity, what are you expecting?

Yes, I've been thinking this. Obviously she's very attractive, but she somehow just absorbs every scene she's in. Bella Ramsey is equally as compelling, but somehow not as charming if that makes sense?

Loved her singing though, so sweet.

Nobody has any comments on episode 5? Bloody hell, that was a bit vicious of Ellie towards that Norma (?) - she is certainly determined to get her revenge for Joel.

Do we think she'd figured out what they were planning on doing with her at the hospital? Because I don't think Joel ever told her?

And do we think Abby knew? She of course mourned her dad and she wanted to see him as a hero, but did she think he would have been justified in chopping up a living 14 year old's brain to try and create the cure?

I worry that in her determination to get revenge Ellie has put herself and Dina into terrible danger...

The airborne spores were the worst bit of the whole episode. If they get out everyone gets infected.
I think in a dystopian era sacrificing one person for a cure would be seen as perfectly acceptable by a lot of people.

Brutal this week, when they cut that poor guy open I literally couldn't watch! And the infected people in the basement, that woman's son who she had locked in there.

There are only 2 episodes left feels like a very short season after waiting so long for it

I wonder whether Abby did realise though? Because she seemed to see Joel as a total villain and her father as a hero and totally innocent victim? That self righteous speech she gave just before killing Joel.

So maybe only a few of the WLF people realised what they were doing to Ellie?

Loved the new episode and happy spores have made it into the tv show as they were in the game from the first one.

The Ellie and Nora scene was perfectly done. There’s our Part II Ellie. In the game she’s very much like this from Joel’s death but I can see why they’re trying to make her a little less angry around Dina before they go out into dangerous situations. We’re going to have to see way more of Dark Ellie now in the final two episodes for Season 3 and Santa Barbara to make sense. In the game as the player you really just want to stop after the second act of what will become Season 3 but it forces the third on to you. It’s really an incredible part of what makes the game so hard hitting.

I love Bella as Ellie so me saying Isabella shines doesn’t mean I’m taking away from Bella. She’s a fantastic actress and really has the range for this. I was just really surprised by how much Isabella is making me like Dina more and more whereas Dina felt very much like a side character in the game.

I was wondering how they were or if they were going to do the spores bit in the hospital basement. Happy they're there now. The spores were always a heebie part of the game.

Wait? What? Just watched Ep5 and the ending floored me. Please tell me it's not a Bobby Ewing was in the shower all along scenario???

Nope! Joel is 100% dead. But next week we’re seeing more of him in flashback scenes!

Sorry, just not believing Bella Ramsey much!

Ashley Johnson did such an immense job in the game, and Bella Ramsey doesn't really emote much, I'm just not believing someone so driven by revenge here. I don't feel the character development from the start of the series to now. A lot of it is probably done to the direction.

This was always going to be the problem, in that everything is compared back to the game. Perhaps because the game is roughly double that of the TV series you feel more of the journey.

I love the game and the series. I can enjoy an adaptation and not expect it to be like the game though.

I wish people would.give it a rest whinging about Bella. It's been 2 years, she's not going anywhere, she's Ellie. People need to either get over it or don't watch it.

The game will always be different because you’re immersed in it in a completely different way. You are literally embodying some of the characters throughout.

i think Bella Ramsey is doing great.

Bella wasn't even allowed to play the game. They wanted her own energy put into Ellie, not copying the pixel Ellie. Imagine putting your heart and soul into something and having to read reams and reams of people constantly whinging and slagging you off, calling you a potato or down syndrome and a shit actor? She does read them.

Look at fallout. It was watchable, bit tedious in large parts and certainly doesn't have rewatch value, but it doesn't get hardly any heat because it has a pretty girl in tight costumes. It's weird.
