Anyone watched the first episode?

Like the majority I didn't enjoy this series as much as the first, but it was a tough act to follow. We saw the progression of their relationship with Ellie learning to trust and Joel learning to love again and them travelling across the counry against the odds, but for a valid reason. This season starts with their relationship very strained, which isn't explained until the final episode, and then Joel is taken out of the equation altogether. Throughout Ellie's character was often irritating and questionable (having none of series one's charm). She often made stupid, impetuous and dangerous decisions. I couldn't get my head around two petite young women walking into a war zone and trying to go up against an army - and then one finding out she's pregnant and they still carried on! But I was still rooting for them and found the landscape and politics interesting. I think flipping it on its head and seeing events from Abbie's perspective is kind of brilliant. I know they do that in the game, but I haven't played it.

People looking for goodies and baddies are missing the point (IMO) as, on the whole, there aren't many. There have been a few villains but generally people are reacting to the lives they are now living. I don't think Joel was a bad man and when he shot everyone in the hospital he was fixated on saving Ellie which triggered him after the death of his daughter causing him to go gung-ho. Even the religious zealots probably have their reasons in that scary and unstable world. However to needlessly put yourself and others in danger - which Ellie seemed to do quite a lot - is reckless and dangerous.

I hate it when good characters are killed off..(sometimes the actor wants out, I understand that )
For me, TWD was never the same after Rick, and FTWD after Maddie.

l miss Joel and Ellie together on screen, but am interested in seeing Abbys story. however long we have to wait.

I enjoyed season 1, but season 2 was a bit meh. After Joel died I didn’t care about any of the characters and Bella Ramsey turned into an irritating spoilt brat. I also can’t get into the Abby story arc. I think this is because the show is based on a game and they have not fully fleshed out the characters. Disappointing, especially as the sets were brilliant.

I remember this. The game was delayed because they couldn’t go into the office (cos Covid) and then, once it was finished, they were trying to work out ow to distribute it.

I got very cross when I heard about all the nonsense Bella Ramsey has had for her portrayal of Ellie. The computer game version looks very different from the actress who played her (in part because she was covered in a suit with wires to capture her movement for the game). If people really want to see that version of Ellie then play the game.

I still get annoyed that people still whinge about the casting. Like they're focusing on every single thing that Bella does just to moan about it. I'm glad it's Abbys story next season. People might shurrup for a bit

If I were to carp I might say that Pedro is rather disappointing casting for Joel. Weirdly he doesn’t seem to get the sort of flack that Bella does.

At one point people were moaning because they weren’t just going to use the actress for Dina from the game - but the game used a face model and a separate actress for the voice.
