Ah it had to happen. There wouldn't have been a second game without it. I did think they would have dragged it out a bit though before.

Loved the Tommy bit scrapping with the bloater. Those were buggers to kill.

I was explaining to my mum about the bloaters, I said in the game you have to literally pelt them with petrol bombs or nail bombs and then shoot them, that’s how I killed them until you picked up the flame gun which you don’t get until later in the game.

I knew it was coming as I’ve played the game multiple times… it’s pivotal to the 2nd game, feel like people should give up as it’s a great story arc. My mum and daughter had no idea so were totally shocked. The spindle was giving finale energy so wasn’t expecting that much in episode 2..
I was surprised because in the game it was Tommy with Joel when Abby did it, Dina was with Ellie and Jesse came to tell Ellie about Joel and Tommy being missing . You don’t see the fight scene in Jackson Either, I don’t even think that was a thing unless I’ve missed something all those times. The makeup on the clickers, shambles etc is fantastic and boy can they run fast. Can’t wait for the rest of the season.

It's not going to be exactly like the game. That would be dull. I'd just play the game in that case.

Yeah, long live the flame thrower Grin

I was expecting it too but I still sobbed !

Tarkan · 23/04/2025 13:41

I had it spoiled for me after S1 so knew it was coming but it was still brutal to watch. I weirdly still had that hope that something would happen last minute. Reminds me of how I felt during many episodes of The Walking Dead.

tothelefttotheleft · 24/04/2025 00:37

I haven't enjoyed either of the first two episodes.

Felt like nothing much happened in the first and the second seemed to just be violence.

What was the back story to the Dr who Joel killed?

OP posts:
gamerchick · 24/04/2025 07:24

He was just a doctor who wanted to save the world. He was especially kind to animals and was Abby's dad

But to Joel he was the doctor who was going to cut out Ellie's brain.

I watched episode 2 last night, didn't expect that ending Shock DS played the game but he had kept quiet about it.

I really enjoyed both episodes.

I take my hat off to those who played the game and were able to keep that massive spoiler to themselves. For 2 years! (since season 1).

My ds included.

I would never have been able to, I have been quite vocal at to just how distraught I am.

I have been increasing judgy about programs with attackers and poor defence systems. Zombie types are definitely the worst, as vikings etc tend to be up against thick stone wall castles. Why on earth did they only have a single wall perimeter and a main entrance with no holding pen? Both infected and other humans would have been a lot easier to deal with if they had proper defences and satellite settlements to fall back to! There are certainly enough trees in the area.

PolitePoster · 24/04/2025 17:00

I just caught up with S2 ep2 last night...to say I was absolutely gobsmacked is a complete understatement!! My (grown up) son has played the game and was waiting for my reaction, as he knows how much I love Pedro 😭
I decided that I wouldn't watch the rest of the series, but I've since read an interview with the show runner, who says it's not the last we'll see of Joel. Plus now I want to see Ellie avenge him.

You couldn't catch some of those infected in any kind of holding pen and those bloaters aren't the toughest in that world, they don't just smash through walls, they come upwards. Settlement's are limited to where cordyceps is and isn't. It got in, that's why they came when it detected humans.

It's an excellent story and it's worth sticking with.

Thankyou @gamerchick

I'm not bothered about Pedro being gone after his attack on JK Rowling

I hadn't heard about that!

gamerchick · 25/04/2025 07:26

His brothers now becoming a sister so he's pretty much captured.

zebrazoop · 25/04/2025 11:49

Pedro is a big ally of the trans community, his sister Lux is trans .

Oh I will be sticking with it while judging 😁. Walking dead series 1 was the one I judged the most. Why were they just hanging out in a forest with no clear perimeter, plenty of hiding spots and no sentries posted?

I knew that he died, but haven't played the game, so the rest is all a mystery. Love Bella Ramsey!

gamerchick · 25/04/2025 14:43

The walking dead I agree with Grin

The flu in the prison with the sick pig. Hershel was a ruddy vet and nobody thought of asking him to have a look. Could have avoided the whole thing.

There was a lot of holes in that program and wtf moments.

flumposie · 25/04/2025 19:16

I have never played the game but knew what was coming 😪 Loved the scenes with Tommy ( am a bit biased as I have spent time with Gabriel Luna who plays him and he is one of the kindest, down to Earth guys you will meet).

Factsandfeelings · 25/04/2025 21:08

I’m still gutted, I’m not carrying on after Ep2. I knew it was coming from the game, but it was brutal.

I'm heavily conflicted as an elder TERF who has always loved Pedro. I see that he loves his sibling and is therefore very biased. I can’t help but feel he’d be on the side of women’s rights if not for that. He’s always spoken out for the good fight.

However that makes me feel like a naïve dickhead because I know plenty of left leaning men support men’s rights thinking that’s the side they’re meant to be on. Ugh.

My thoughts exactly. Even your most basic mediaeval castle had much better defenses than Jackson Hole. They clearly could make cement so why was the curtain wall only made from timber? And why only the one defensive wall? And even with just one wall they should have made it overhang at the top so there was no way the zombies could have climbed over.

Jackson Hole looked like a children's fort!

Blackbirdflying · 26/04/2025 23:31

Annoyed with myself. Watching episode 2 and I couldnt figure out who Abby was and I thought I had forgotten some plot point from season 1 so I googled “ who is after Joel in season 2” and first hit was about Joels death so I spoiled it for myself.

Find it hard to believe a serious organisation like the Fireflies or whatever they were called now would have groups heading off dedicated to personal vendettas though. They just left when Joel was dead. Also such a good look out why did Jackson Hole not have people posted there?

It was a shocker for sure but poorly executed I think.

Fedupoftheshits · 27/04/2025 10:19

Sorry to ask a daft question but in episode 2 what triggered the dead infected coming out of the ground and going on the rampage?

Was it something to do with what they found in the pipes and when it started smouldering from the sparkler?
