😮..I have come across it by accident.

Last year it was was well advertised.
The TARDIS flying on the BBC screen at every opportunity and so.

I do record a lot of my programmes so maybe I missed it ?

But I didn't last year 🤔.

And I really thought they said it was going to be May for the new series ?

Have I been on another planet ? 😂😂😂 !!

I didn’t know so thank you for this thread! I have seen more dr who stuff in the news but hadn’t read an air date for the new series so thought it was more May/ June.

Jennalong · 12/04/2025 17:57

Not doing it for me these days , so not watching.
Haven't watched for a few series .

TheNightingalesStarling · 12/04/2025 17:59

I've been getting the countdown from my DD.

Hopefully better than some of the episodes last series.

NormalAuntFanny · 12/04/2025 17:59

I only knew about it from DS1. I expect it will be a bit crap and preachy but will probably watch it anyway, at least the first one.

They should have given the show to someone else when Disney bought it because it has become stale and samey.

AuntieDolly · 12/04/2025 18:00

I was Smile

zzplec · 12/04/2025 18:02

I've seen trailers for it, presumably on BBC1.

Gettingbysomehow · 12/04/2025 18:02

I certainly won't be watching it. It's politically correct, worthy BBC rubbish.

Bailiwitch · 12/04/2025 18:10

I watched it this afternoon - then looked for a thread and found none. So I assumed MN has run out of patience with … either the beautiful, blameless actor, or the now insufferable show runner.

So thank you for bravely starting a thread!

It wasn’t the worst episode in living memory. As usual, being an RTD script the story didn’t hang together or make much sense. But as an introduction to the new companion and her relationship with the Doctor it was almost passable.

I wasn’t scared. I didn’t laugh. I didn’t feel sad. I wasn’t outraged. It failed on all those counts.

But it looked magnificent. The characters are attractive and sympathetic. The ending was mildly intriguing. I’ll keep going for now.

I knew and will probably watch it but my hopes are not high after the last series and especially those specials with Tate and Tenant. Not sure if its Disney or the Beeb but the stories have been poor despite some excellent cast members.

I was really looking forward to Ncuti Gatwa and I think he has been poorly used for the most part. Ditto Jodie Whittaker as the first woman title lead but quite a few episodes were poorly written, especially in her last series and they did not make good use of her. The two Romanas and the female Master were all better portrayed timelords and I had high hopes beforehand.

We shall see soon!

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 12/04/2025 18:15

I knew it was starting today but I'm a bit meh about it. The first series was hit and miss. The Christmas special wasn't bad, so I'll probably watch it. I think Ncuti is gorgeous but his scripts have been inconsistent. Anyway, I'll have a go

Bailiwitch · 12/04/2025 18:17

It’s been on iPlayer since 8.am btw!

MissMoan · 12/04/2025 18:30

Wait.... there's a new series?

Sadcafe · 12/04/2025 18:34

knew it was due back on but only watched the odd episode since Matt Smith took over to be honest, its just far too woke, storylines are poor and often confusing, don’t have any problem with the current Dr but unless they come up with much better plots it won’t survive

Gettingbysomehow · 12/04/2025 19:14

In the first 5 minutes Dr Who is wearing a skirt and a robot fried a cat. I switched it off.

WilmaFlintstone1 · 12/04/2025 19:17

I’m enjoying it but a bit of a DW fan and easily pleased 😁

He's Scottish and wearing a kilt

Same. It is such rubbish now.

DeciDela · 12/04/2025 19:46

It’s been trailed for ages, loads of ads of various things floating in space, the Eiffel Tower, Statue of Liberty etc. So yes I did know it was on.

Ellmau · 12/04/2025 20:02

It wasn't terrible.

But the robots killed the cat, which is Not Acceptable.

Motherknowsrest · 12/04/2025 20:05

Yes, I knew it was on. I'd seen trailers. I have no idea what is going on most of the time but it's comfort Saturday night telly.

TheNightingalesStarling · 12/04/2025 20:06

Enjoyed it except the cat.
Its not going to make the list of the Best ever episodes, but overall an unobjectionable episode.

I see Mrs Flood is back.

Bailiwitch · 12/04/2025 20:49

You’ve seriously never seen a man in a kilt, @Gettingbysomehow?!

(Particularly a man from Scotland.)

gamerchick · 12/04/2025 20:53

I knew, but it's crap now. They need to rest it for a bit and revive for the next generation.

Phase2 · 12/04/2025 20:56

Watching now as the kids have found it. Wtf a robot saying yaaassss queen? Terrible gcse art graphics.
