😮..I have come across it by accident.

Last year it was was well advertised.
The TARDIS flying on the BBC screen at every opportunity and so.

I do record a lot of my programmes so maybe I missed it ?

But I didn't last year 🤔.

And I really thought they said it was going to be May for the new series ?

Have I been on another planet ? 😂😂😂 !!

I only realised today but really, it’s been poor since Matt Smith left. I have no enthusiasm left for it after giving it every chance. I might watch but it’s a big might. It does need resting and refreshing.

I Liked the new companion. Enjoyed Mrs Flood.
Why does he not have signature outfit anymore. I use to enjoy no matter where he was he was always dressed the same.

He's Scottish and wearing a kilt

No he's not. He's Gallifreyan.

Ncuti is Scottish but why the blinking feck does that mean that a role he plays has to have tartan accessories??

Bailiwitch · 12/04/2025 22:31

Because it’s fun? (As in a fun reference to something the audience will know about the actor. Not because Scotland is inherently amusing.)

He also looks really rather good in a kilt.

Supersimkin7 · 12/04/2025 22:34

Isn’t Dr Who a bit twentieth century?

But by that logic, everything the doctor does should be Galifreyan. All of his earth clothes, food, languages etc should be removed. No 1800's clothes for Bridgerton land either.

I didn't really enjoy the episode, which is a shame as the last series was pretty blah too. The Christmas episode was good fun and that gave me hope, but appears to have been false hope. I'll still watch to find out who Mrs Flood is I guess.

Edited

More specifically it looked like a Utilitikilt - achingly trendy amongst geeks about 20 years ago and boosted by their appearance in True Blood. Its entirely in keeping with Doctor Who if a little dated.

That said, I do not understand why Ncuti does not seem to have been given a regular costume like every other Doctor. Its always been part of the individual Doctor's identity as much as the decor of the Tardis.

I didn’t know it was on and saw it by accident. I liked it. There is another thread.

Oh, which episode revealed that bow ties, converse, scarves etc are typical gallifreyan attire?

PinkFrogss · 13/04/2025 10:03

I usually enjoy the new companion episodes but this one was a bit of a miss for me. I did like Belinda calling the doctor out for testing her DNA without her consent though.

I hope the Mrs Flood reveal is a good one if it’s being dragged out to a second series.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 13/04/2025 11:24

2 companions from the same road.

Bailiwitch · 13/04/2025 11:30

Wasn’t it a completely different location?

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 13/04/2025 11:35

Oh

I just assumed next door to mrs flood. and figured mrs flood wouldn’t have moved.

Gunnersforthecup · 13/04/2025 13:02

I just googled Chandra and it means moon or shining. I am wondering if there might be any connection with the "Mundy" name (Monday means moon day).

There was also a Dr Moon in a previous Russell T Davies episode, apparently.

TheNightingalesStarling · 13/04/2025 13:08

Has Belinda been mentioned before as the Doctor said he's been looking for her as shes Important, or is this on e of the TimeyWimey things?

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 13/04/2025 13:12

Not her but her descendant.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 13/04/2025 13:13

How did Alan end up on that planet?

Newgirls · 13/04/2025 13:19

Belinda was excellent - that actor should be in everything.

we liked it - but didn’t need the incel bit spelling out.

TheNightingalesStarling · 13/04/2025 13:15

This confused me.

they got Belinda as their queen then she said it’s Alan’s fault get him. So they did. But at what point did the robots become overlords? When Belinda was taken or only after Alan was? In which case why did they want Belinda in the first place?

jay55 · 13/04/2025 13:30

The incel bit and the bodily autonomy felt so out of place. I’d usually welcome sunlight to both issues but just felt too jarring in Doctor who.

the rest wasn’t bad. I liked the idea of mad robots worshipping a random earthling.

Newgirls · 13/04/2025 13:30

Yeah the doctor said something like ‘I want to solve the mystery of how they got the star certificate in the first place’ but Belinda said she wanted to go home

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 13/04/2025 13:34

It was actually an interesting dynamic and made me think good point. Why’s no one ever said that.

cakeandteaandcake · 13/04/2025 13:40

What a load of crap. Even the music was awful. You can see and hear Disney’s influence and it’s not good.

Not as bad as Space Babies - but not far off.
