😮..I have come across it by accident.

Last year it was was well advertised.
The TARDIS flying on the BBC screen at every opportunity and so.

I do record a lot of my programmes so maybe I missed it ?

But I didn't last year 🤔.

And I really thought they said it was going to be May for the new series ?

Have I been on another planet ? 😂😂😂 !!

Bailiwitch · 26/04/2025 13:39

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 26/04/2025 19:37

Me too! It's the best episode so far. Very tense

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 26/04/2025 20:01

The simplest things are best.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 26/04/2025 20:07

Best one so far

SheilaFentiman · 26/04/2025 20:17

Really enjoyed that episode!

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 26/04/2025 20:34

I loved that!

And as soon as the twist villain was revealed, I was worried that they'd demystify an old villain, but they left it nice and unspecific! That was one of my favourite episodes too.

myplace · 26/04/2025 20:41

Yep, properly good!

I'm in Aus so watch it on Disney Plus.

Ellmau · 26/04/2025 23:09

This was a good one, even if Ncuti cried again.

MakeYourOwnMusicStartYourOwnDance · 26/04/2025 23:13

Brilliant episode! Really wasn't expecting that twist/throwback.
Definitely the best one yet.

I think it streams on Disney and BBC iPlayer from midnight, which is seriously annoying if you're old school like me and want to wait to watch it when it airs on live BBC telly!
Means I have to spend the day actively trying to avoid spoilers 😭😁

I just googled Chandra and it means moon or shining. I am wondering if there might be any connection with the "Mundy" name (Monday means moon day).

There was also a Dr Moon in a previous Russell T Davies episode, apparently.

Shock Ooh good sleuthing! Yes, I remember Dr Moon, he was in one of my favourite episodes - Silence in The Library and Forest of The Dead (brilliant two parter episode) "and then you... forgot!"

I gave up 2 doctors ago. It’s woke shite now.

2 doctors ago, so what, when Jodie Whittaker started (assuming you don't mean David Tennant in between Ncuti and Jodie what with your use of the word woke?)
Woke is meaningless nowadays. Which bit is the one you have a problem with?
The woman?
The black man?
The fact he's gay?
Not enough white straight males in the role anymore?
Wish people would just come out and say instead of leaving people to guess which bit they find "woke."
Although if you say you gave up two doctors ago I guess the woman was the first tipping point for you.

Dh was shocked when I suggested we just watch when we were ready rather than waiting. Waiting for’ moment’ is part of the experience 🤣

I was excited about Jodi, unbothered by Ncuti.

I can’t remember when the woke preachy virtue signalling started, but it’s seriously irritating. Off the top of my head I can’t think of an example, though, but it feels like being patted on the head while being force fed commandments.

RTD is particularly prone to it. Interrupting the story with a quick spoonful of virtue.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 27/04/2025 09:42

Did 'The Well' remind anyone else of Michael MacIntyre's The Wheel.
Spin it.

SheilaFentiman · 27/04/2025 10:09

I think that sometimes the writing fails at “show, not tell” - for example, in The Robot Revolution, there wasn’t enough showing of Alan’s coercive control for Belinda’s “Planet of the Incels” comment.

Other times - like in “Dot and Bubble” - the harm and stupidity of racism is built up very well.

Grey’s Anatomy can do this too - it can have an excellent exploration of a topic such as police attitudes on race or the risks of abortion laws - or it can shoehorn in an “issue” with a bit of clunky dialogue.

SheilaFentiman · 27/04/2025 10:17

Bailiwitch · 26/04/2025 13:31

Finally! Finally …

Happy with that.

RTD couldn’t resist a little lecture in the middle, but apart from that - heart thumping, whilst grinning, whilst slightly afraid …

Proper.

I think the sign language dialogue (which I assume is what you mean) was earned, TBH. It’s entirely reasonable that 500,000 years in the future, adaptations for disabilities are far better, given that in our own society, they are far better than they were 50 years ago. It was part and parcel of having the technology to project speech to text as an unspoken add on to the suits.

Bailiwitch · 27/04/2025 10:22

Oh, I felt the sign language as part of the story was excellent, it was just the clunky homily that spoilt it. The audience took the point from the story - it really did but need spelling out as an aside.

KIlliePieMyOhMy · 27/04/2025 10:23

Nice to see Linus Roache in something.

Jojoanna · 27/04/2025 10:28

I watched it with my dgs ,, he was slighty scared ,, good episode

Bailiwitch · 27/04/2025 10:32

Stop confusing me, @KIlliePieMyOhMy! My immediate thought was Surely I saw him in something last weekend? Oh yes - it was Dr Who …
