But her brother and wife moved into his deceased sisters house
did they then buy it ?
so many questions!!!

One assumes the house was left to them given that the sister had asked them to care for the children

Or it might have been a LA house

It just seems like a huge part of their story wasn't mentioned, just how they cared for her. & her children
No mention of their father either

Perhaps the explanations viewers would want is precisely what they sought to avoid!

But answering all those questioned be more "sob story" which is what lots of us are complaining about this season.

Why do we need to know if they paid for the house anyway?

doodles55 · 09/04/2026 20:34

It would make more sense
the mum leaving her home to her children
but this wasn’t clear 🤷🏻‍♀️

Dizzierblonde · 09/04/2026 22:09

The house looked like a typical council house of it's era. 20+ years ago, I'm sure tenants could allow for another family member to inherit their right to rent the home from the LA. Of course, they've tightened the rules since, but it would make sense that they took over the tenancy. Given they were enabling 3 kids to stay out of the care system, I'm betting the LA helped them secure the tenancy for that property to keep the kids in their family home. Some time after that, they likely bought their house from the council.

I think they showed a photo of them as children when telling the story. They must be late 20s/30s now and presumably didn't want to be on telly. I wondered if they found it difficult to see the house in such a mess, when it was their mum's house originally.

I assumed they didn’t want to be on telly but it did feel a little awkward, simply because there was no mention of it. It made me wonder if they’d fallen out or there was some back story there. I don’t want to know it, but it really felt like something was unsaid.
I didn’t really enjoy this episode, I think because it felt unfinished in some way. I think the family got rid of less than half their stuff, and the place didn’t really look that great afterwards (IMHO, and my house is not that flash either to be honest!)

doodles55 · 11/04/2026 20:38

I did not warm to the daddy
I felt he was overacting or something
i don’t know

hagchic · 13/04/2026 20:45

I think Stacey acknowledged that they didn't get rid of half of it - when she said 7 vans left and 4 came back.

There was a bit of an abrupt stop to the 2nd day in the warehouse and it really didn't look like they were seriously clearing out stuff.

They still got their house cleaned and decorated though.

Crumbs, there's Sort Your Life Out Unpacked on iPlayer with Dilly.

She chats with celebs about their lives but also how they manage their stuff. I'm not that fussed on the celeb stuff but I bloody love Dilly.

Have you watched it? It saw the first episode and it was awful so haven’t bothered with anymore. If anyone has watched more let me know if it gets better!

Fullofthejoysofspring · 13/04/2026 21:56

Yes I’ve watched it, it gets better!

Meredusoleil · 13/04/2026 22:00

I binge watched all 3 episodes of SYLO unpacked and although I too love Dilly, I didn't much like the show. But it was quite short and sweet still.

Edited

Did I see a preview correctly where she interviewed herself or was I mistaken?

RaraRachael · 13/04/2026 22:06

I thought SYLO Unpacked was going to be showing what happens behind the scenes.
When I found our what it actually is, I didn't bother watching.

Dilly interviews a famous person in each episode and unpacks 3 boxes which each contain one item the famous person has brought in. It's more like a casual therapeutic style chat than anything else tbh!

Yes I know that - but saw a preview where she interviewed herself - maybe it was just advertising for the new unpacked show. It made me even less inclined to watch anymore of the unpacked even though I love Dilly!

Place marking, this looks like such a lovely family 🥰

the80sweregreat · 14/04/2026 20:33

These are such lovely people. Some people have so many things happen to them and it feels so unfair.
I love how they involve Gregor with the decisions.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/04/2026 20:40

Yeah I was thinking that, it’s not fair is it 😢

The mum is amazing , her kids are such a credit to her.

Meredusoleil · 14/04/2026 21:00

So much trauma and tragedy in this family, but they are all still so happy and positive 😁

What happened to showing the parents' bedroom and the older kids' bedrooms? Did they even get transformed?

I'm starting to think that they are not doing the whole house anymore (due to time or cost issues maybe) 🤔

the80sweregreat · 14/04/2026 21:05

Maybe they just bring the belongings back and the family have to do the rest ( or it was more difficult because of time or Gregor’s needs in this case )
It did feel a bit rushed compared to other episodes and we didn’t see the other rooms.

HollyhockDays · 14/04/2026 21:05

They were such a lovely family. Those kids were an absolute credit to their mum and stepdad and dad. They love they all had for Gregor was beautiful.

I wonder if they can say we don’t want this room decorated just cleared and tidied.

I do not wonder if it strictly seven days as Stacey’s roots were done during this. I
know that only takes a few hours but you would think she would get it done before each one is filmed.

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 14/04/2026 21:06

I was confused by the house layout, we didn’t see a kitchen, dining room or the other bedrooms.

Cottagecheeseisnotcheese · 14/04/2026 21:10

we did briefly see kitchen diner at beginning which honestly looked fine, there was a quick look in parents rooms and oldest daughters room maybe there's a budget and family decided getting garage split into two and the living rooms were what was important, they don't always do the whole house, also it was quite a big bigger than the average house I imagine taking stuff up and down the spiral staircase was not fun!

the80sweregreat · 14/04/2026 21:11

Maybe they didn’t want all the rooms done. Just wanted to concentrate on a few rooms only.
I admit I don’t like all the trendy bright colours , but it seems to be all the rage. I am boring though and like cream and grey and muted ones! ( I know other mumsnetters don’t , lol)
