There’s a programme with Josie Gibson on making cash from your clutter. It had the man from cash cow (?) in weighing the gold.

I would like to see more systemise.

lovely family this week.

I just struggle to believe that catching swine flu could cause such life changing disabilities 😞

My ds was 18 months old during the peak of the Swine Flu outbreak in 2009. My asthmatic DH got it and was on some v strong meds. I remember watching little DS like a hawk just in case. Swine flu, on reflection, was probably more symptomatic/ problematic for young dc than Covid was.

Yes. I watched the first episode of this. I do like JG despite her accent which puts me off slightly. I thought the show wasn't too bad, but not as good as SYLO!

Agree!
I did wonder though if someone said they wanted an item back would it be easy to find. £16000 for all his stuff?

I haven’t watched that yet, but did send lots of stuff to cash cow when I was clearing out a relatives house. They offered absolute peanuts so I took it back and sold it for much more at an auction.

Interesting! I assumed they offered peanuts. I guess it saves time.

I had it in 2009. It started with being unable to walk because of severe fatigue. I'd just started work that year after graduating and had to take three weeks off. I was wiped out but I was lucky.

RaraRachael · 16/04/2026 10:04

My son had it when he was 16. It wasn't much different to normal flu and he was off school for a few days.
I didn't think anything of it at the time but now realise how lucky he was.

There was an interesting bit on the rest is entertainment podcast this week about how the whole show works - I think someone had asked how many other people were working behind the scenes to pack the vans, sort the warehouse etc, and what happens to all the stuff. Found it interesting.

Really loved this week's family, loved how the lad always made a point to tell people Gregor was his twin, and I love how close the kids were. I hope they remain happy...and oh how I would have loved that garage hang out as a teen!

ASNQuery · 17/04/2026 23:44

Loved the Mr Tumble video too.

Zippidydoodah · 18/04/2026 13:36

I’ve just watched. What an absolutely beautiful family! I wish my children were as loving with one another as they are. Makes me think we must be doing something wrong.

I’m sure you’re not - I think it’s just a combination of different factors.

My two mostly get along really well; a friend’s two are always at each other’s throats. I’m quite sure it’s nothing my friend is doing wrong. Just different personalities and a bunch of other things.

But I agree, the love they all have for each other is really touching.

RaraRachael · 18/04/2026 15:34

My son and daughter aged 9 and 12 couldn't be left in thd same room but now at 32 and 35 they're best friends, going on holidays etc so there is hope.

Zippidydoodah · 18/04/2026 16:41

Thank you both 😊

Ulysees · 18/04/2026 17:15

What a fab family. I hated that wall art work though. Chill out room was nice.
The step dad was so lovely. I'm glad the dm met him. So very sad about her dh though. How traumatic 😪

Me too, a really nice touch. They made Gregor's bedroom so nice, much less clinical.

TitsInAbsentia · 18/04/2026 21:53

@PearlsTeapot it's from Thursday and titled "Pop culture moments that broke our hearts" - about 17 minutes in.

PearlsTeapot · 18/04/2026 22:12

Thank you!

Sobbed at that last episode. That poor woman has really been through it.

Did anyone else think There was very little mention of his late sisters family and where they are/ live now
or have I missed something

I’ve just finished this episode, and agree with your questions. In one scene you could see a school photo of a young boy, I presume that was one of the sister’s children, and made me wonder if they had had the opportunity to take stuff that was their mums that they wanted. She obviously had a whole house and three teenage children when she died so would have had furniture, clothes, books, a whole house of things. And the couple tonight were married with no children when they moved in so whose stuff was it, and if it was all theirs what had happened to the sisters things, her bed, her dining table, her saucepans, her pictures? I wish they had addressed this even slightly.

In a previous series they had a bit (maybe filmed by one of the main four???) showing a lot of assistants, I remember there were a group of them putting stuff in a cupboard, then they realised there was a better way of doing it so took everything out and started again, and lots of people sorting china on a garden table somewhere. Plus lots of people in a warehouse organising all the colour coordinated things. I actually thought it looked like a really fun job to have!

Actually it might have been filmed by Iwan? I can’t remember which series though.

Benio · 03/05/2026 09:17

Not watched this series yet - does it motivate / help the viewer with strategies for decluttering and new housework systems? Do they use any repeat processes that work and what are they? Also is there a theme as to how people get into a state in the first place - I remember watching the hoarders series with the psychologist and it was always linked to paralysis emotional / thinking around grief.

I find it helps me a bit. I’ve been getting strict about putting like with like where possible, so for example all diy stuff together which is something I thought I’d already done but it was amazing how much random stuff I found all over the house 😵‍💫. And so on.

Agree with the psychologist being an important part of the process - years ago there was a money programme, a woman (the finance expert) sorted out the money, got them to stop spending, got them to sell stuff etc, and a man (the psychologist) asked ‘yes, but why? What happened?’ It was so illuminating. Really good.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 03/05/2026 16:26

I remember both those programmes. Stelios the psychologist/ psychiatrist would often find a photo hidden under the clutter.
I have piled clutter on the desk ex used to use. I should just smash it up!
