Join DI Humphrey Goodman as we return to Shipton Abbott for a brand-new series on BBC

The team faces a host of baffling cases in the upcoming series, including

a body discovered in a river on the county border,

a perplexing chocolate box poisoning, a long-standing farming feud

and a spiking incident at sea.

Away from the police station, Martha and Humphrey must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame Archie presents an unexpected challenge.

So a child in foster care sustains an injury caused by the foster parents arguing in front of the child. And no alarm bells are raised or safeguarding put in place? Ok then.

Yeah, I kept waiting for the follow up visit from the social worker but it was never mentioned again.

At least Kelby and the dog got a happy ending.

Bless kelby putting shelves up / he might have a new bmf

Turned out well that they’d kept fit chasing each other.Grin

I enjoyed it but it is very silly. There’s so much potential I think they are missing. Loved Kelby getting the dog

It’s a really annoying storyline that they’ve not even explained. Like they couldn’t be bothered to make up an actual problem in the relationship. He should tell her to fuck off and stop messing him about.

They did explain it
She's too scared to open herself up again and risk getting hurt and trusting someone with herself

purpleme12 · 03/05/2025 14:13

And I do think it's feel good Tele

I must've missed that too. Her daughter Zoe , said her father died when she was a baby and her mother , Esther hasn't had a relationship since , and she must be late teens . So it's a bit ridiculous for the writers to make out she's been scared for 20 years , without properly explaining why .

Apart from that , I've loved all the series .

Blondeshavemorefun · 03/05/2025 18:13

I thought he died when she was preg

but guess either way daughter won’t remember him

that’s a long time to stay single

I think Zoe's father died on the way to the hospital to see her for the first time.

The Old Grey Whistle Test theme at the beginning.

(Stone Fox Chase)

Haven't heard that for a while!

I wondered if Josh? the guy Kelby was chasing, might become a trainee policeman? It would echo some of the new officers in Death in Paradise.
I loved that he got the dog at the end. Hope he keeps her.
I hope next series we will find out why Esther is how she is about Archie

Bruisername · 04/05/2025 20:13

Maybe next series Archie will have a rebound girlfriend 🙄

I thought the foster SL was a bit shit tbh and I don’t really care about Martha either

and that hump!!! As if a bus could get over that - the police car struggled!!!

I also thought that if I was a kidnapped young woman I would hope they would have a greater sense of urgency!!!
