Join DI Humphrey Goodman as we return to Shipton Abbott for a brand-new series on BBC

The team faces a host of baffling cases in the upcoming series, including

a body discovered in a river on the county border,

a perplexing chocolate box poisoning, a long-standing farming feud

and a spiking incident at sea.

Away from the police station, Martha and Humphrey must overcome unexpected hurdles as foster parents, while the reappearance of Martha’s old flame Archie presents an unexpected challenge.

Yes that’s right! Bit odd because one would assume he might have family that might be interested in his daughter too

Bruisername · 15/04/2025 16:15

I assume the crazy eyebrows come from her dad so maybe a new character will appear with look a like eyebrows and turn out to be granny

diddl · 15/04/2025 19:13

Crazy eyebrows?

Hadn't noticed.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/04/2025 22:41

E4 tonight.

an old selling rivalry resurfaces in the regatta when a saviour collapses mid race

Havnt seen yet so will avoid thread till I do

OP posts:
Bruisername · 18/04/2025 22:43

I’m not sure anyone is that bothered from how quiet the thread is!!!

I watched - was predictable - was ridiculous - was disappointing

but they are bringing return to paradise back for a second series so compared to that it was a masterpiece!!

will be interested to hear your view

purpleme12 · 18/04/2025 22:52

I like the programme

I mean it's just easy cheese viewing isn't it

And I like the characters

Nothing to criticise

APSSucks · 18/04/2025 23:02

This week's wasn't as good as last week's.

Enjoying Archie with Esther though. He's doing all the "romantic boyfriend" stuff and she is enjoying it, as someone said above, but definitely not playing the reciprocal role.

OccasionalHope · 18/04/2025 23:21

Predictable but pleasant viewing and the scenery is so pretty, Still betting on Archie being up to no good though.

He seems besotted to me.

Clawdy · 19/04/2025 07:49

I'm still enjoying it, part of Friday night relaxing for me!

purpleme12 · 19/04/2025 09:18

It did make me laugh though when the foster child got hurt, how they didn't check how bad it was whatsoever and just bundled her into the car straightaway!

Davros · 19/04/2025 09:38

The whole thing with rushing the child to hospital was ridiculous.
I agree with @purpleme12 I like the characters and setting and it’s well made cheese.

Fifiesta · 19/04/2025 10:50

Yup agree, some of the little scenes are silly, last night I obviously was not the only one shouting at the tv, ‘at least clean the cut up & have a good look before assuming a hospital visit was the only solution’!
However I am enjoying it overall.
I am personally not drawn to the endless reality shows featuring the extreme looks / antics/ whiny voices and opinions of the vacuous ‘contestants’.
So light entertainment, pleasant scenery will do very nicely for a relaxing interlude in my evening.

Bruisername · 19/04/2025 10:58

The crimes have been so predictable (except the chocolates - I’ll give them that) and I would rather they put the effort in there tbh

i don’t mind the Archie/esther romance but would prefer it doesn’t end badly

the little girls scream was hilarious but I can forgive her poor acting as she is a child and she is otherwise doing ok. I’m glad they have given them a long term foster placement rather than having a new kid every week with some kind of lesson for the audience.

TonTonMacoute · 19/04/2025 13:06

I watch sometimes, mainly because a lot of it is filmed where I live and it's fun location spotting. I don't really get the appeal of it tbh.

Blondeshavemorefun · 19/04/2025 21:07

It is easy watching and Fri night ok tv

tho I sussed it was hugo as soon as he brought the milk

why was Humphrey in on the Martha interview. That wouidnt happen

kid leg being so badly cut was a bit meh

sure one other thing as well but can’t R.E.M. what

My quibble was that I wouldn’t have thought races in that sort of dinghy would attract £30k prize money.

Tourist29 · 21/04/2025 12:31

I knew it would be Jones from Midsomer Murders -

Agree about the leg, also a foster child would be give priority placement in school and the foster carers wouldn’t have to sort it.

Is everything in the 10 mile cafe sourced from within 10 miles as she has oranges, pineapples and coffee.

kazzaD66 · 21/04/2025 15:58

Yes, having to sort out school placement was bollocks!

Easter Grin to the 10 mile café!!

diddl · 21/04/2025 16:28

I knew it would be Jones from Midsomer Murders -

Yes-bit like MM in that you know by the actor!

TheChosenTwo · 21/04/2025 19:39

Only seen a couple of episodes of this and can’t really understand what it’s meant to be!
Bumbling Goodman (is that his name?) - how can he really be taken seriously?
From the limited amount I’ve seen it’s just really twee! And it looks like there’s loads of series?!
Martha is so wet too. Not sure what it’s all about to be honest, very drab but some very pretty scenery!

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/04/2025 19:19

E5 tonight

the myth of the corn man turns real when a masked figure strikes a local farm

OP posts:
Davros · 25/04/2025 19:52

I’ve got to finish Madame Blanc, then I’ll be onto BP

Blondeshavemorefun · 25/04/2025 20:05

I’ve seen half of that - just swapped over

will watch other half at 9

2Rebecca · 25/04/2025 22:28

Have they got a 14 year old writing it? It has turned in to a kiddies’ mystery series. Really disappointing
