If anything, we need more shows like this to educate people on why it’s fun and healthy to aim to make things from scratch—even if you can’t afford every single thing.

Is this what’s she’s doing?

Why is she selling pancake mix and cookie mix?

FanofLeaves · 05/03/2025 11:31

Food without poison 🤣🤣

please. And I’m a competent cook, I cook from scratch where I can (cheaply and often quickly because that’s the way things have to be) I still think Meg is a condescending vacuous idiot though and fortunately so do a lot of other people.

Bet you’d go right off it if the common masses were at the farmers market every day of the week grappling for organic purple sprouting broccoli.

Wow. No one is saying it’s the best show ever or that it’s realistic. What some of us are saying is that people get so rude about pretending no one can afford local fruit and vegetables or cook from scratch, apart from super-rich people.
As I said previously, I do have an allotment, and I shop at farmers' markets and order from Riverford. I do not swim in money, but I chose this lifestyle instead of spending it on expensive phones, handbags, or cars. It is our hobby, and we involve our children, who love it.
If people don’t agree with this lifestyle, that’s fine. But they shouldn’t pretend it’s so far out of this world when it isn’t.

Some people may dislike her because of her background and race. However, some of us just feel that she is not a very nice person. When she married Harry I thought she seemed lovely, I’ve only started to dislike her as I’ve learned more about her. I just get the feeling that she is fake, unkind and narcissistic. I could be wrong but it’s how I feel. I wouldn’t be mean to her or about her (I have never commented about her before), but I shouldn’t be forced to like her for fear of being labelled a racist. Surely we can dislike a person of colour or her content without necessarily being racist ?

I just get the feeling that she is fake, unkind and narcissistic.

And your instincts are correct.

Have a read of the numerous, separate and independent investigations of her bullying, belittling and harassing behaviour in testimonies from dozens of her employees over the years reported in many reputable publications. Just last month Vanity Fair, last year The Hollywood Reporter and Access Hollywood, prior to that The Times and "Courtiers" by Valentine Low.

And these were after the Buckingham Palace reports by colleagues of her behaviour that hounded some people out of their jobs and left others seeking professional intervention for the damaged she caused to their mental health.

This doesnt touch the friends, family, ex husbands and partners that she has just ghosted. This series of 'love and friendship' must be hard for those who have been personally impacted by her appalling behaviour towards them and jars with many who have read repeated reports over the years.

She's skating on very thin ice as an employer legally and its notable that this highly litigious individual has not challenged any of these investigations.

I just looked at pasta she made. Omg that's worse than my days as a 16 year old in a student house? How can you put raw pasta on top of feta and tomatoes then add water?! It must be so starchy and watery. I can't believe she would showcase such a basic and bizarre dish?

intrepidgiraffe · 05/03/2025 12:23

I always really liked her and thought she'd had a rough deal in the press.

But she is AWFUL on this - so unlikeable

GuestSpeakers · 05/03/2025 12:30

I can afford to shop in farmers markets and have space to grow my own food. I love aspirational lifestyle or cooking shows but this just doesn't work. With Nigella, I can picture her going to expensive delis then spending an afternoon cooking for a dinner party with friends. I can see Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall wandering around his garden and picking vegetables to have for lunch. They're doing something they're passionate about and enjoy. With Meghan, she just jumps from project to project with no real interest in it. She's just trying to figure out what people will buy.

She wouldn't make scented bath salts for a friend, she'd buy lots of toiletries from a high-end luxury brand. She wouldn't spend an afternoon cooking for family and friends- she clearly can't cook and anyway, she'd want to show everyone that she (a duchess!) can afford talented staff to create the food for her. Her whole personality seems to be about living in luxury but excluding a reality show, there isn't really a market for that.

asever.com/ for the products. No prices yet but I assume they'll be extortionate.

There are "flower sprinkles" too which might explain why she kept throwing flowers on everything.

Thank you. I’m surprised they’re not avaliable to buy yet. Surely that’s a mistake.

It's a pot noodle

BobbyBiscuits · 05/03/2025 12:42

@NotaRealHousewife haha! Those Asian pot noodles probably taste better than her weird slop! Who told her she could cook? It's kind of embarrassing.

FanofLeaves · 05/03/2025 13:03

Let’s face it she looked faintly terrified every time a real chef cooked alongside her. She had no clue at all what to do in the kitchen, it’s all learnt and rehearsed, I imagine a professional chef and a florist came and coached her beforehand. She behaves like putting cumin in a Mexican inspired dish is her own personal touch ffs and had clearly never been near a blender in her life 🤣

When age was talking about the different flowers and how to arrange them it smacked of being fresh off a flower arranging course, except she had no genuine passion or flair.

sunshinewook · 05/03/2025 13:36

It’s a strange situation where I feel two opposing sides are both flawed. She may be terrible, and likely is a bully based on all the various reports, none of which has she challenged in a court of law, despite her and Harry being super litigious.

However, some people have decided to go to extreme lengths to criticise her, and yes some are exactly the bullies they accuse her of being. Both can be true and both can be wrong.

I personally started off faintly admiring of her and absolutely no feeling on Harry. Except I don’t believe we should have a royal family. Everyone is equal and I don’t believe anyone is inherently better than anyone else.

The more I learn the more I think they are both not very bright, but with grandiose narcissistic traits, jealous and cruel at times. All that said I still think that all these people making money out of non stop analysis and criticising of Meghan are as awful as her, if not more so. She creates content and does pap walks. We can choose not to watch and not to click. Ironically all the people hating her is what gives her the platform and gets her the big money from Netflix. Netflix has had tons of publicity for their soon to be opened stores and people, both her haters and lovers, are watching the show. Netflix don’t care how she fares, which may or may not be what she deserves.

PP sort of nailed it for me - she comes across as taking herself too seriously and comes across as very dry and some how overall lacks charm, warmth or humour.

We watch a lot of crafts, lifestyle, baking and cooking often on you tube these days - what bring you back is that warmth or humour. We watched river cottage back in day but thought Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall a privlage twat - I enjoy watching Clarkson farm despite no interest in farming and thinking him a bell end - yet still enjoyed watching.

It's a shame but doesn't work for me.

I wish French and Saunders were still a thing. Imagine the sketch they could make of this bollocks!

Do you remember the Lord of the rings one 😂

WHY DOES SHE HAVE TO PUT FLOWER SPRINKLES ON EVERYTHING

I agree. I quite liked Mindy Kalling and think she needed that for a bit of realism, as in she was the 'meghan come on love no one has time for this shit' friend.

But MM didn't seem to get it and just came across as even more staid next to her more down to earth friend.

Merrymouse · 05/03/2025 15:52

Watching this as a TV programme feels very 2008.

I expect that many people will watch the first episode out of curiosity, but the content is worthy of a few 30 second instagram reels, not a TV series.

Yes - she had a not very memorable, but respectable career as a TV actor, and from what I understand, he had a respectable career in the army, and I assume would have been perfectly adequate in the kind of job people from his background do after the army. Neither of them are anything more than that though (Who is?), and that has left them in an odd kind of limbo when they split from the family.

They don't seem to know how to be private people, but on the other hand the papers that claim to despise them seem affronted when they try.

MollyRover · 05/03/2025 16:10

I've just seen a thread about the show on Reddit and it couldn't be more different than the general opinions here. It all seems really made up to me. Sussex Analytica, anyone?

Merrymouse · 05/03/2025 16:20

Penko25 · 04/03/2025 21:09

Her surname isn’t even Sussex is it? She’s an embarrassment to the county & people of Sussex.

Harry and William used the Surname Wales because of their father's title, so I assume, using the same logic, Harry's family now use the Surname Sussex.

LipglossAlly · 05/03/2025 16:27

Katherina198819 · 05/03/2025 08:09

I like it.
Is it fake? Yes, just like everything on TV or social media.
Still, I much prefer watching this over all the other reality shows out there.
Yes, she is privileged, but you probably wouldn’t want to watch someone making a ham sandwich in a run-down kitchen.

I also don’t understand the comment about how detached she is from reality. If anything, I found her comments to be the opposite. She seemed aware that her circumstances, such as her garden and kitchen, are not something most people can afford, and she tried to come up with ways to help people make lovely food from simple ingredients. She suggested farmers' markets. What’s wrong with that? I have an allotment and try to buy local, organic fruit and vegetables. I’d rather feed my family healthy food than spend thousands on a new iPhone.
If anything, we need more shows like this to educate people on why it’s fun and healthy to aim to make things from scratch—even if you can’t afford every single thing.

💯💯💯

You certainly wouldn't want to be Harry this evening 🤣

It's some years since I read it but I keep thinking Harry is starring in a remake of Ibsens's A Doll's House (not that I have any sympathy for him)

Beekeepingmum · 05/03/2025 18:29

I'm nearly at the end. I was actually disappointed she roasted the carrots rather than instructions for the finale crudites in case we have forgotten how to add the peas and flowers. I'm still a bit confused about the difference between pancakes and crepes.....

Beekeepingmum · 05/03/2025 18:34

My main takeaway is that the best type of ship is a friendship. Oh, and how to make crudites.

Cooking the pasta in the sauce means it absorbs more of the flavour of the sauce. It's pretty good and I'm surprised she has been so criticised for it.

Oh yawn. The old “You must all be racist” trope. did anyone really know Meghan was mixed race until we were told?

Shes a narcissist. That’s what’s different. You’re welcome.

I think the ribbing here is more along the lines of the kind Pippa got for her party tips.
