The Emmy-award winning HBO original series, which offers an inside look at the powerful and wealthy as they navigate complex personal dynamics and face potentially dangerous experiences while on vacation, returns for its third season this month.

"Seeking peace can be a trip," reads the tagline for this season, which was created, written and directed by former "Survivor" contestant Mike White.
This time around, viewers will be whisked away to an "exclusive" resort in Thailand, where an eclectic group of guests and resort employees will play, and likely misbehave, over the span of a week. "The White Lotus" Season 3 guests include a wealthy businessman and his family, three longtime friends who haven't seen each other in a while on a girls' trip and "rugged man with a chip on his shoulder" and his girlfriend, among others.

Anyone else looking forward to this? Starts on Monday and will be shown on Now and Sky. No watching on demand as all episodes will be dropped weekly.

I remember her hitting her head (and dying.?) in S2 in Italy. She was definitely dead was she?

Yeah she fell off the boat and drowned

Ohh! No, I think you're right actually. If I think back harder I seem to recall a scene showing her body floating deep underwater for ages. So yeah, I agree she's dead.

Shame though, and such a pity when she was being so brave and she'd almost got away!

curiositykilledthiscat · 26/02/2025 11:46

Possibly one reason why this season (so far) isn't as strong as the other two is that there's too many characters.

Oh, I dunno. The same archetypes, iirc?

The Family
The Couple
The Friends
Plus various hotel staff - maybe more named this time?

I guess we don’t usually have the hotel owner on site.

curiositykilledthiscat · 26/02/2025 12:06

No, I meant quantity-wise, so the writing isn’t deep enough because there’s so many characters and not enough time for us to ‘know’ them. But I know there’s six more episodes to go.

TheGlamour · 26/02/2025 12:23

I agree they could spend less time Attenborough-ing and more on humans!

Pemba · 26/02/2025 12:31

But there were also loads of characters in each of the first 2 series?

It just seems like we have not got to know these ones so well/they've not made much of an impression on me so far. Even though good actors are obviously queueing up to be in The White Lotus. Eg, Jason Isaacs, Carrie Coon etc.

I probably just need to be patient though.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/02/2025 13:41

Yes she is def dead and an accident as fell and banged her head on the boat

tho she was going to be killed Prob by the 3 cats via hides by Greg

thi one gay is alive and dived off the boat so he may appear and kill Greg

maybe it’s Greg who is dead 😂

TheGlamour · 26/02/2025 15:44

That would be an excellent outcome …

MrsResponder · 26/02/2025 15:48

Just watched the first two episodes and enjoying so far. Not understanding the 'too slow' comments. I've just watched Ripley which I really loved, so there you go, I like my TV slow and atmospheric.

Also have to comment on my huge love for Jason Issacs. Fabulous actor but also would not turn down a rumble in a Thai jungle with him 🥵

Least you worked out what I said

seems iphone took over my words 😂

tho she was going to be killed Prob by the 3 gays hired by Greg

HolidayHattie · 26/02/2025 17:19

I've recorded the first two episodes but haven't started watching yet, so I'll read this thread once I've caught up.

I'm just hoping that the resort manager isn't a sensually frustrated homosexual who is led into rash decisions/actions by overwhelming lust. I think that scenario has been done to death.

HolidayHattie · 26/02/2025 18:20

I can't believe autocorrect changed "sexually frustrated" to "sensually frustrated". It just tried to do it again. Why does my phone not know the word sexually?

Yes … It does seem as if Rick might have a personal, rather than professional, interest in Sritala‘s husband / partner.

But the robbery! Poor Gaitok really must be as daft as he thinks he is, to be so easily distracted from his security duty by Valentin. No doubt he’ll start to work things out slowly - and then attempt some desperate heroics to impress Mook.

Also at least one of the reviews I read suggests not just Greg but also Chloe were probably involved in the heist - she by scoping out the gift shop and, from the changing room, letting Greg know the coast was clear. I did like Rick’s perspicacious assessment of Greg and Chloe’s relationship.

So there is a plot gradually evolving.

Oh yes - somewhere else there was comment on the Ratliff siblings being the bearers of metaphor. The promo photo of the three of them - dark glasses, earphones, bottle to lips suggesting the three wise monkeys: see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil …

And … Though it’s hard to comprehend - the possibility that it might be the omnipresent (real) monkeys who carry out the shooting …

Edited

So Greg and Chloe, AND Valentin, are all in cahoots?

I do wonder why Chloe has deliberately befriended Chelsea. It doesn't seem entirely sincere.

Greg is such a downer! If I were Chelsea I'd move to a separate room and just eat/sunbathe etc by myself.

AndWhoShallISayIsCalling · 28/02/2025 08:47

I'm enjoying it so far and will definitely keep watching. Probably not as drawn in/intrigued by the characters as the first two series at this stage - whether that's because I'm now used to the dramatic devices used by the writer or because they're not as interesting I'm not sure.

I am finding the location quite claustrophobic - maybe that's also deliberate framing by the director?

Belinda definitely clocked Greg - but seemed not to be able to place him. I suspect she will slowly remember who he is.

I’m hoping Jennifer Coolidge has a cameo role - possibly in Belinda’s recollections? Or even in a spiritual sense.

E3 tonight or 2am this morning like nine records

plan to watch hopefully tonight but with the bay and virdee I may not manage it

curiositykilledthiscat · 03/03/2025 16:52

So this week we found out that Kate voted for Trump and Chelsea got bitten by a cobra…yes folks that’s as interesting as it gets.

Gosh it’s (still) so slow.

So, I do now fear for Belinda’s continued presence on this earth, now that Greg knows that she knows …

Also - has he used Chloe to lure Saxon onto the boat? (I’m anticipating that Saxon will be drawn into financing some scheme but will need his laptop to seal the deal. Cue break-in to Pam’s devices store - and that’s when Gaitok will go on the rampage with an AK-47 - now that he’s a Brave Hero.)

I’ve moved on from thinking Sritala‘s husband might be Rick’s father, to thinking he might be the person who killed him. I dismissed the possibility that he could be a hitman last week, but Rick Hatchett is quite a name. Nominative determinism an’ all …

Still can’t get a handle on the hotel manager Fabian. All this stuff about his family stunting his musical ambitions? Working your way up to management at a luxury Thai hotel seems an odd choice for a frustrated singer / songwriter.

I really wouldn’t want to be Timothy Ratliff right now. Is he banking on his life ending at the same time the holiday does?

Twiglets1 · 03/03/2025 17:35

Belinda definitely identified Greg and must be wondering now why he would lie about his identity ...

Overall though, another disappointing episode compared to series 1 & 2.

TheGlamour · 03/03/2025 17:47

It’s lacking humour, and jaw dropping moments so far, compared to previous series.

They’ll surely have to pick up the pace to reach a satisfactory conclusion.

It's lacking so much. The humour and jaw dropping moments as you say. Also the scenery is not as outstanding as in previous series and none of the characters seem that interesting.

RosaMoline · 03/03/2025 20:58

I’m enjoying it thus far.
I’m worried for Belinda 😔
I hope she and Pornchai get together ♥️

thatsnotmynamebruh · 03/03/2025 21:06

Watching episode 3 now, it’s very slow

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 03/03/2025 21:24

Why is Chelsea so determined when it comes to Rick who doesn't seem to give a fuck?

It IS really slow so far
