I think the introduction of the Seer and the changes to not disclosing if they are a traitor or not at the end were positive.

The last 2 series were won by a traitor so to keep the show interesting they kind of needed to shake that up to allow for faithfuls to win. It may not have been quite as nailbiting in the moment because as a viewer you know that they are all faithful but for the shows long term success they can't keep the same formula year after year.

The faithfuls won series 1 (although it was handed to them)

I was disappointed in the final. I didn't feel Leanne deserved to win. I think she derailed a lot of people by her lack of common sense and shouting over them. I just didn't like the way she treated people.

Alex and Frankies actions ultimately led to the banishment of the last traitor. Think it was unfair they missed out completely. Also when her and Jake expressed their regret that Frankie and Alex had lost out on the prize... they felt that bad they could have chosen to share it 4 ways.

Series 1 was won by Faithful. Wilf was kicked out in the last round.

@witchycat2 I agree with you re Minah, she didn't come across as so devious but that may have changed if she got closer to the final. She had to vote Armani out, her downfall was inevitable so that's relatable to the viewers. Linda was a risk too.

myplace · 25/01/2025 08:03

Alexander was so reserved/self contained that people didn’t feel sure they could trust him I think.

I loved the moments he forgot himself and let rip- celebrating banishing a traitor, hurtling round the forest looking for coins, singing the backward song 🤣. He’s pretty intense. His listening face when he’s taking everything in and working out the implications…

I imagine there was an element of relish of how superficial it all was- all that effort but actually it’s a game. No real issue with losing

I hope the Beeb looks after them.

Merrilydancing · 25/01/2025 08:04

I liked Jake and glad that he won. I did also want Frankie and Alexander to win but they also kept the banishments going and paid for it by getting voted out.

OnlyWhenILaugh · 25/01/2025 08:04

But viewers don’t criticise the traitors for being defensive the way they did Leanne

The issue wasn't Leanne being defensive @RainbowSnake Lots of faithfuls defended themselves robustly without turning on anyone.
Leanne took offence at Alexander's suspicion and reacted as if he had no right to voice his opinion.
Of course we don't see everything but viewers can only react to what they see.

They need to make it at least £500k next year. Fighting for £1k on tasks makes it seem underwhelming. When claud says they’ve banked £4k and there’s a muffled cheer

They won £47,000 each, that's huge!!

fanaticalfairy · 25/01/2025 08:07

They should make more opportunities to actually find a traitor in the games. Like the gunpowder one, where it is in the interests of the traitors to sabotage something - and not just trying to get the shield.

Zanatdy · 25/01/2025 08:11

First series I’ve watched and absolutely loved it. Minah was my favourite but I was also rooting for Alexander as he’s such a nice guy and my ex partner used to work with him and said he really was a lovely person. I think Charlotte played the game well and the accent change was smart, I think part of the reason they didn’t fully warm to or trust Alexander was because he was middle class and well spoken. Leanne was pretty embarrassing when trying to argue with him.

DD and I want to binge watch another series, I know who won series 2 so maybe not that, either series 1 or a few people have recommended the Australian version. Any recommendations for best one to binge?

Moonshower · 25/01/2025 08:12

I didn’t want Leanne to win. She made me laugh with the narrative “I’m a faithful, you must believe me” but when Alexander said the same she said she couldn’t believe him but he must believe her.

I can’t believe she couldn’t see how crazy that sounds 😂

CloseYourRingStress · 25/01/2025 08:14

We had never watched it before @Zanatdy and have just gone back to the first series on iplayer. I don't know, but I've presumed that you don't get Claudia on the non UK versions.

100% agree we need them to out themselves more and try to sabotage tasks….that would make it way more interesting

OnlyWhenILaugh · 25/01/2025 08:16

The other nonsensical phrase I got sick of hearing was "has proved themselves as a faithful ". Which so many applied to Charlotte. Madness and totally illogical. The only proven faithfuls were banished faithfuls.

I think Leanne felt she was one of these true faithfuls.

CatDogGuineaPig · 25/01/2025 08:17

I agree the missions etc should provide more clues... when they talk about playing the game skilfully it's just nonsense, it's all random until the very end. Still love it though (and wish Minah had won)

Claudia is about 80% of the enjoyment for me!

The pony comment and the 'shes hung out of hundreds of helicopters', I laughed so hard DH came to find out what was funny!

fingerbobz · 25/01/2025 08:18

Everyone who goes on the show deserves to win

People are being unkind about some of the players

Leanne deserved it as much as Minah

It unfair to say she doesn't

She seems like a nice woman who loves her kids. Her partner recently beat breast cancer and she's finding her feet after being in the army

Yea she's a bit brash but she can't help that

fingerbobz · 25/01/2025 08:20

The challenges are ridiculous , i find them pointless but they have to fill the time

CatDogGuineaPig · 25/01/2025 08:20

The problem I had with Leanne was that every time "her name came up" she would look around and say how angry she would be with anyone who didn't trust her - it was quite threatening. I think people didn't want to take her on. Probably reminded them of the kids you never wanted to tangle with at school.

That was her game play

It worked . She won

Fountofwisdom · 25/01/2025 08:21

Thought the end game was a big anti-climax compared to S1 & 2. Of the final 4, only Jake deserved to win IMO as he had at least shown some insight and deduction during the series. Leanne did not deserve to win, she contributed nothing to the detection of Traitors, and seemed really unpleasant - far too quick to aggressively confront anyone who mentioned her name. She only got so far because people were scared of her.

Couldn’t bear Frankie, she was useless and turning on the tears at a drop of a hat was pathetic. Was so glad she got banished. I know Alexander is MN’s obsession but again, he contributed very little to the game throughout so didn’t deserve to win.

Overall, I found this season a bit disappointing compared to the first 2 seasons.

Sorry, also separately, did Ed Gamble look a bit out of sorts this evening? I can't work out in which way, but not his usual self as per previous episodes.

I thought that too but wasn’t that just because this episode was live and all the other episodes were prerecorded. Must have been a lot more stressful and meant he had to cut people off etc for timing

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/01/2025 08:25

apart from the final i really enjoyed this series
and i didnt join this thread until half way through, which may have helped in my enjoyment.
i was glad to get affirmation of my dislike of Leanne when i did join the thread, and of Joe,
it was an exciting series i felt

lolly792 · 25/01/2025 08:26

When it was down to the last five, I was very aware of the male/female divide. I'd have been happier for Jake and Alexander to share the win: they both just played the game without making it bitch and personal.

Leanne seems a right bitch: she constantly doubted Alexander but was enraged if he said the same things back to her.

Frankie was so wet and passive most of the game but the way she went for Charlotte (who in fairness had been a faithful most of the game and had only recently been recruited as a traitor) was awful.
'I swear as a mummy' ffs. And the vicious way she asked Charlotte why she wanted to win so much that she was pretending the seer table episode had gone differently- erm, Frankie, it's a GAME. Which you entered as well, because you all want to get to the final and win. The final straw was 'I don't like drama, I don't need it!' Then stick to the day job love, don't volunteer yourself for a prime time tv show where the whole point is to hide your identity and shaft other people.

The seer thing was shit, very stupid to stick that in near the end of the game so that people who've played well so far just randomly get stuffed.

Karmaisagod · 24/01/2025 22:21

Leanne was an unpleasant, agressive, bullying contestant. Even at the end, she displayed total lack of empathy and interest only in herself. I hope she realises - and regrets - just how terribly she has come across during the programme. She may be £46k richer, but at that cost.

I agree. If only people had that kind of insight and self-awareness.

She’s more likely to be furious that people think that and call them nasty rather than look at herself.

A disappointing end to the show.
