poor alexander, the death match sealed his fate, when he was rescued from the coffin, he was too cheerful.
and he didnt always speak well

Coldanddamp · 25/01/2025 07:02

I haven't said she should be receiving hate just explaining what the public were turned off by. And it may well be the edit but if that is what is presented to the viewers that is what they receive.

Fridayfridaycatsandblamange · 25/01/2025 07:02

@RainbowSnake i am a member of the British public and like many people do get caught up in a show while im watching it and love the drama of it but that’s it. Going as far as commenting negatively on someone’s social media because you don’t like the outcome or how they were portrayed on a hugely edited show is pathetic.

Coldanddamp · 25/01/2025 07:05

I liked how she was physically strong & thought it would have been good to
show more of that side rather than hold back due to nail tech job. She should have said she was a personal trainer.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 25/01/2025 07:06

i hope Jake is ok with the negativity.
i dont think he did anything wrong

CloseYourRingStress · 25/01/2025 07:09

I agree with @Coldanddamp , I thought Leanne came across as mean and petulant.

She hid her strengths and lashed out at anyone who challenged her.

CloseYourRingStress · 25/01/2025 07:10

I thought Jake was great, measured and a decent guy.

WinterCosiness · 25/01/2025 07:10

The seer thing, and the final players concealing their role after banishment were two changes that I feel didn't work, and kind of ruined it. Hopefully the producers will scrap those things next year.

Coldanddamp · 25/01/2025 07:11

i didnt mind Jake

Yes, I liked him too. He was unpopular on here because of his comment to Kas (the doctor). I liked Kas too. But, it was one poorly thought about comment from Jake, who clearly didn't mean to cause hurt. Mumsnet were very unforgiving! Jake played well and seemed pleasant. Happy for him 😊

I wonder how the contestants view themselves after watching the edits.

Eg Freddie, Minah, Alexander, Linda come off well

Charlotte, Joe, Leanne come off badly

I just wonder what they think.

I don’t think Minah came off well at all.

CloseYourRingStress · 25/01/2025 07:19

I can’t remember the comment @WinterCosiness . I thought he was sensible, calm and measured.

His story about overcoming the obstacles that cerebral palsy had brought, acquiring the confidence to admit it and his gratitude to his parents made me a bit 🥲 .

He should be proud of himself.

I think we all get caught up in it. It’s hard not to!

I think it’s normal to have strong opinions and to express them and I’m not judging anyone for that. I’d be a hypocrite if I did. But, as you said, seeking them out to tell them personally how you feel is something else. It’s unnecessary and horrible and it’s the type of behaviour on a larger scale that those players were accused of. We only see a tiny part of what happened and the other contestants seem to really like the players that viewers didn’t so it’s likely that they aren’t all that awful and we just saw less of their positive qualities.

I really really agree

I have enjoyed the last 2 E12s but I didn't enjoy last night's episode AT ALL

Horrible yukky energy.....it felt like being back at school. Shock

MaggieFS · 25/01/2025 07:20

I'm in glorious agreement with pp on many things, especially @WinterCosiness on Charlotte. I don't think you can take the words people use as any sort of character guide. It was pretty awful what she said about Frankie, but by that point she was fighting for survival and if Frankie had played it better, Charlotte would have been even more on the back foot.

The thing with the seer is, there was a 75% chance that the person picked would have been a faithful and not a traitor. And then it would have played out totally differently, so much as there's a lot of engineering, the outcome of the seer thing wouldn't have been forced.

As I said previously, I do think a shake up was necessary otherwise the format would have got very stale and everyone would just be saying "only traitors can win".

RainbowSnake · 25/01/2025 07:26

Coldanddamp · 25/01/2025 06:58

@RainbowSnake I've not seen other series so can't compare. I think it's fine to justify and defend yourself but I am explaining the element I disliked and I think that was the general perception of her from the public. Or do you think that isn't the reason?

No, I agree that’s the reason. I didn’t like her for a while for the same reason!

But if you look at faithfuls defending themselves then they very often just cry. Online they get criticised for that. If you look at traitors defending themselves then they often become defensive and then deflect. It’s interesting that they actually saw Leanne as a faithful with that in mind. But viewers don’t criticise the traitors for being defensive the way they did Leanne, despite her doing the same thing. Charlotte got a bit of the same criticism for targeting Frankie at the final round table but that was only because people liked Frankie. Other traitors have gotten away with the exact same behaviour.

Twiglets1 · 25/01/2025 07:28

Coldanddamp · 25/01/2025 06:55

Instead she picked Charlotte, the person she least suspected.

I think the Freddie thing turned her head a little bit and she then wanted absolute confirmation that her gut was right & her friend was a faithful. She was shocked by the card and I think by things C said in her defence. So it's understandable to me that she was paranoid & didn't play in the best way. She reacted in a typically human fashion.

Agree that it’s understandable why she wasn’t playing her best game by that stage. I just think as it’s a game, the fact she started making lots of errors of judgement means that it was right she got knocked out.

I feel like Alexander on the other hand played the game well by giving his coins to her to ensure a faithful won, as he trusted her. He didn’t deserve to be voted out ( & in particular he didn’t deserve for her to turn on him) as hadn’t made any tactical mistakes in my opinion.

So of the 4 faithfuls left at the end, I think she deserved to be voted out by the others whereas he didn’t.

Boredlass · 25/01/2025 07:17

I don’t think Minah came off well at all.

There were a few things Claudia said yesterday on Uncloaked, plus Charlotte’s demeanour, made me think she feels bad about the edit.

Fridayfridaycatsandblamange · 25/01/2025 07:44

I thought Minah came off really well, her and Linda were my faves. Charlotte was a brilliant traitor and very entertaining, it must have been so stressful for everyone on the last day.

RedSuedePump · 25/01/2025 07:47

Jake was one of my favourites - seemed like a decent down to earth guy. No one ever really suspected him of being a traitor at any point as far as i can remember. i'm glad he got some for her prize money. Being the seer really only would have benefitted a traitor so i doubt they will
bring it back next year! I went off Frankie a bit when she was constantly playing the "i'm a mum" card to Leanne - but i get she was just trying to use the cards she had.

MichaelAndEagle · 25/01/2025 07:47

Why do people say Charlotte is a backstabber but not Minah? She saw off two fellow traitors and I'm certain she would have got rid of Charlotte if she needed to.
Charlotte had to recruit late in the game. You have to recruit someone to throw to the faithful at that stage, any other strategy is too risky.
I don't think you'll ever get two traitors sharing the winnings.

More like he spoke too well - a lot of them are suspicious of anyone who sounds too middle class or high achieving.

KickHimInTheCrotch · 25/01/2025 07:49

I think the introduction of the Seer and the changes to not disclosing if they are a traitor or not at the end were positive.

The last 2 series were won by a traitor so to keep the show interesting they kind of needed to shake that up to allow for faithfuls to win. It may not have been quite as nailbiting in the moment because as a viewer you know that they are all faithful but for the shows long term success they can't keep the same formula year after year.

I think the difference is Minah voted for Armani and Linda once the group had completely turned on them

With Charlotte, she put minah's name out there immediately (the 321 game for example) and she actively framed Freddie. Minah didn't orchestrate her fellow traitors downfall, she just went with the group. Charlotte actively tried to get Minah and then Freddie out.

I don’t think any Traitor in any series has come over particularly well.

I really disliked Paul in S2 because of his overconfidence in the turret and the ‘diary room’, whereas Harry and Miles seemed nicer somehow. I also think Amanda in S1 came across fairly well.

But in real life, they all seem like really nice people.

Re the Seer twist; I didn’t mind it because I’m always team Faithful but I’d be surprised if it gets used again.
