Surprisingly good music this week!
Montell and Johannes should turn in an excellent quickstep if she gets the technique; she certainly has the energy and stamina. I think they'll enjoy the song too.
Sarah and Vito's song is a good rumba tune. I think Vito will lean hard on her ballet training and go for lots of leg extensions and spins, it'll be fine but underwhelming, and overmarked.
Tasha and Aljaz: I didn't know the song but just had a listen and it's quite slow. Not a Fred and Ginger style AS at all.
Chris's is that kind of paso music that is no doubt authentic but has the potential to turn into a cheesy routine by a suburban tapas bar's live act. Fingers crossed they make it better than that.
Jamie seems to like ballroom, so he might do well. Hopefully they'll dress him like an adult too.
JB and Lauren will come up with a show-stopping Charleston.
Pete might be in trouble. Good song, and he likes ballroom, but tango is rarely a wow dance, and at this late stage and with some of the other routines likely to be sparkling, he might get a bit lost in the voting mix.

Finally finished watching last night. That pro AT routine was STUNNING, and the best bit of both shows. Chris' was my favourite dance, completely underwhelmed by all the others. Either wrong outfits/shoes (Montell, Pete 😱), music too slow (Pete, JB), strange theming (Wynne, Jamie) or good but felt nothing (Sarah, Tasha).

All in all, definitely not 'the best Blackpool ever' Anton!

I’ve just read Sarah,Shayne and Montell first three names for the tour.

Plus on further reading Motsi will be one of the judges this year.

I hope Shayne has a better time on the tour than he did in the show.

I hope Jamie isn't in shorts yet again this week. Though for ballroom, it seems unlikely.

Jamie has been in shorts twice. Once for the salsa and second time for American Smooth when he was Pugsley, who wears shorts in the film.

Still, I do hope that wardrobe are kinder to him this weekend, and give him something appropriate for his dance and age.

Kai has stepped in with Maisie before. Gorka doesn't do the tour. I think he’s probably the right height.

As for the Addams Family dance, they could have been Morticia and Gomez and looked like grown-ups. I don't know why they so want to infantilise him.

short straw with wardrobe a few times along with Pete and Wynne. He's bloody 30, yet they are determined to make him look about 15!

I was disappointed at not seeing them dressed as Morticia and Gomez. Michelle would have looked amazing!

How do they decide who's on the tour? Shayne and Montell seem like odd choices given that they're both clearly not popular.

I always assumed it was whoever was available & up for doing it!

Yes, I guess it must be, to an extent anyway; but surely commercially they have to think about who will sell tickets?
Or is the tour crowd different from the TV voting crowd?

I bet those who go to the tour are die hard fans, who probably go every single year.

I took dd to the show a few times when she was younger. She loved it, it’s a slick performance with high production values and extra dancers, and you get to text for your favourite. I think the last time we went Susan Calman was in it. But it’s the same every year - we are in Glasgow so Craig wears a kilt , puts on a shit accent and says hoots mon and CU Jimmy. Not funny. They all say how much they love Scotland and how the Glasgow crowds are the best in the country.

a couple of years ago DD stood outside their hotel with her friend to meet the dancers and pros, the year Emma Barton was in it. She was not impressed with Katya and Luba, Johannes, Graziano, Amy and Dianne all more than happy to stand in the freezing cold and get pictures.

I went once with DS when he was about 6 and really into it. I found it all quite uderwhelming tbh - it was the year with Kelvin Fletcher and Karim (early 2020 just before everything shut up shop). Everything was rehearsed to within an inch of its life and the judges' responses were entirely scripted and predicable.There were probably some good professional routines but the "celebrity" dances we'd all seeen befoer so almost no element of surprise, except for Bruno Tonioli singing "can't take my eyes off you" (badly). I wouldn't go again. It was full of middle aged wives and accompanying husbands, and quite a lot of families. Overwhelmingly female crowd.

however DS was thrilled when we were in Pret nearby beforehand and Neil and Graziano and a couple of others came in, basically just to pose for selfies. They were quite literally looking for attention but quite nice and friendly with it.

Agree - very very scripted. Judges usually dance in the finale.

I've been to the tour just twice. The first time it happened I think because Darren Gough was in it so 20 years ago or so.

I also went the year Jake Wood was in it. Forget who else was in it that year

I've never been to the tour, but did see Strictly: The Professionals and it was brilliant. Shame they aren't doing that any more. I did want to go and see Giovanni but don't want to now after everything.
