I actually FAR prefer Pete’s approach of - “I can’t quite believe it, I definitely can’t dance, but I’m prepared to be humble and work hard” to all the “friends for life, Strictly superfan, over-dramatic screeching, ooh no can’t a dance a step despite having gone to dance class since I was four” stuff that some of the contestants put us through 🤷🏻‍♀️

Same. I am much less keen on all the gushing everyone else does (though I’m sure it’s often genuine).

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/11/2024 21:04

It wont happen

I think it could!

I can't see it happening given that Chris must surely be shipping votes in by the truck load and is also a much better dancer.

Pete is this year's recipient of the Annual John Sergeant Memorial Panic ™️

I really hope not.

the80sweregreat · 17/11/2024 21:24

I like Pete. He isn't keen on the fawning and fakery , that's fine with me!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/11/2024 21:25

If JB and Jamie dance off - one goes

And then Jamie or JB vs Sarah /Tash

Leaves Pete in the final?

I'm no good at statistics!!!

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 17/11/2024 21:28

I forgot to add Montell to the mix !

Choux · 17/11/2024 21:47

It's fair to assume Pete will be bottom of the leader board every week. We already know he was more popular than Montell this week and JB has already been in a DO too. If he polls above Jamie and JB he can maybe go another two weeks while (my guess) Montell and Jamie get eliminated.

At the semis as long as he is bottom of the leaderboard he needs to win the public vote to be in with a chance to avoid the DO and I think Chris is winning every week so I doubt he can get to the final.

Ebabllisstggoffor · 17/11/2024 22:21

To be fair, Tess doesn’t put a foot wrong. She gets the job done. Remember Bruce? He was an embarrassment in the end.

I can’t stand Shirley. Her fawning over the males is disgusting.

I love Craig and Claudia, they are the very best out of everyone.

xsquared · 17/11/2024 22:27

Just wanted to add that the Argentine Tango pros group dance was absolutely amazing and this is the sort of quality that a pros dance should be, not the tacky themed ones with rubber gloves and cheesy music!

Was Shirley a little tipsy last night? If there was anything else more embarrassing than Pete's outfit and dance, it was her fawning over Pete and giggling like a naughty school girl. Very unprofessional of her.

NeedWineNow · 17/11/2024 22:40

We caught up tonight and then whizzed through the results as usual.

loved the Pet Shop Boys. They still sound great and the opening routine was brilliant.

Loved Chris and Dianne, he continues to amaze. He's definitely going to be in the final I think. I was unmoved by Sarah and Vito and also Tasha, although they were good technically. Agree with whoever it was up the thread who said they were fed up of seeing Sarah's gusset.

I will never be able to unsee Pete's trousers.

Music this week was dreadful (apart from TPSB).

The professional dance on the Results show, though, now that is dancing. Fantastic music and dancing and no stupid whooping from the audience. Absolutely spellbinding.

Thought Pete would definitely be in the DO and loved how surprised he was. I wasn't surprised about Montell - I don't think she's clicked with the public and the trainers didn't help her dancing. It was right that Wynne went. He's been fun but it was his time.

Not a vintage Blackpool I have to say.

FagsMagsandBags · 17/11/2024 23:02

It's interesting the different takes on Pete. All of you who like him think he's genuine, down to earth, funny. Even some who are less keen think those things. My issue has been from the beginning that I can't tell if he's genuine or not and it's an issue I have with people who do reality TV. I'm always thinking is this you or the public you. I don't know who he is and because of that I can't warm to him. I see something almost sly which is on me but I can't see past it. I'm sure he'd be gutted if he knew 😄.

I know you could say the same of any of them. I like Vito and Sarah but find her over the top and a bit grating. If she wasn't with Vito she'd probably get on my tits but there you go. I guess the "feeling" we get from someone and it's hard to figure out how or why but it's there.

EsmaCannonball · 17/11/2024 23:16

I find Pete anything but authentic. He is the very definition of scripted reality.

I like Sarah but I can see why people find her a bit of a luvvie. However, what I appreciate about Sarah is that though she may put on a public persona she obviously likes to keep her personal life fairly private. She's not one of those people whose personal dramas and relationship with the media is their entire career.

BogRollBOGOF · 17/11/2024 23:34

Pete's grown on me. I found him hard to read in the early weeks and struggled to work out if he was serious or incredibly dry humour. I'm glad it's dry humour. I like the way he's ridden out a poor dance and worse trousers though- he really was resigned to the dance off.
I haven't voted for him.

Wynne took the end of his time very graciously too.

It's a shame Montell isn't picking up more votes. Last night wasn't her best, but it was far from the worst and she's got a great chemistry with JoJo. They look a very balanced couple together in terms of athleticism. You know she's decent that he's neither reining back too much nor totally outclassing her.

The Pet Shop Boys 🤩
They're aging/maturing so well and have kept their vocal quality which many don't after that length of time.
Masters of cover versions too.

Samcro · 18/11/2024 08:01

why was Tash talking about people outside hugging her?

MarkWithaC · 18/11/2024 09:25

dapsnotplimsolls · 17/11/2024 19:45

Ugh. I hope Pete doesn't get a nice ballroom next week. He could get through again.

Well, if he gets a nice ballroom and dances it well then I'd be happy for him to get through. I just wish they'd stop giving him joky/sexy numbers and terrible clothes.

Agree. I'd never heard of him before Strictly, but I now like and respect him. And he makes me laugh.

MarkWithaC · 18/11/2024 09:38

I preferred the Pet Shop Boys' own-songs medley on the Saturday show, although I liked Sunday's outfits (yes, including the orchestra's!). They're genuine originals.

AMAZING Argentine Tango group dance. I presume the central couple are AT champions/specialists? But I don't think Claudia named them when she credited the choreographer etc, which was a bit odd.

Loved them showing a clip of when the judges fucked up the scoring in the lindy-thon, how pissed off Claudia was, how useless Tess was, and Bruno – Bruno! – being the grown-up and sorting them out.

I really feel for Montell. It must be so hard knowing you'e not popular. Johannes looked sad too. Maybe it's not so much that people don't like her as that everyone's just voting for Chris or Pete and forgetting about those who tend to be middle-ish on the board. I hope she gets a beautiful ballroom next week.

I think Wynne could have praised Katya more in his leaving speech, TBH. It was quite me-me-me.

Jamie's Anton impression was rubbish. How embarrassing. He's like a kid who's had too much fizzy pop and everyone's indulging him. Anton himself looked like he didn't know where to put his face.

BatFaceGiirll · 18/11/2024 09:43

I'm on a lot of catch up right now but is Amy now gone for good from this years show? 😔 having said that though, JB danced better with Lauren

Runningupthecurtains · 18/11/2024 09:45

@MarkWithaC I think the main tango dancers were the choreographers but I'm not 100% sure.

Yes, a foot injury, apparently.
He does seem to do better with Lauren, although I like Amy and feel for her missing out.

I could have sworn she named one of the regular choreographers. At least, I thought I recognised their name, although I can't remember it now...

ellebelli · 18/11/2024 09:49

I don't vote(never watch live) but if I did I would vote for Pete.
He and chris are the ones that make me laugh and that I hope go through each time.
Montell would be next to go for me,find her bland and not enjoyed a single dance they have done.
I'm rooting for Pete but fully expect him to be out soon.
Chris to win then(and part of that is for diane too)
Though overall I'm not really bothered and half expect sarah to win.(though will be glad for vito)

XxSideshowAuntSallyx · 18/11/2024 10:25

I like Pete, never vote for him but I found his reaction to getting through quite refreshing and actually endearing. Neither him or Jowita thought they'd get through and you could tell by the way they both reacted when their names were called out.

Sarah irritates me, I've said it before I know. Even the way she turns her back on Claudia and the other pairs, and looks directly at Vito when he is talking annoys me.

I absolutely love the relationship between Chris and Dianne. He seems to just want to do well for her and to make her happy. He comes across as a lovely guy and I am amazed every week what he can do because I can't dance for toffee and have no coordination and I have sight.

Itsjustalittlebitfunny555 · 18/11/2024 10:30

LookItsMeAgain · 16/11/2024 19:34

This is not the normal Blackpool calibre of dancing and routines and showmanship that we're used to .

Remember Caroline & Pasha's Charleston at Blackpool?
Jill & Darren's Jive??
Ashley & Pasha's routine??
Danny Mac and Oti's American Smooth was amazeballs when it was on the sprung floor.

Where are today's equivalent of these??

This is SO true! And yet the judges are rabbiting on about standards being higher than ever and handing out 10s like sweets! No one is convinced!

Bring back Pasha if you want really high standards! And stop putting more effort and resources in to all the filming and surrounding flummery, than the actual dancing! I'm sure that Len is turning in his grave!

I have to agree that the highlight for me this week was Chris and Dianne. I found it incredibly moving. And the way his posture has improved is wild!
