The rest of the thread title

"For it's not easy to not get lipsed on the down low without someone getting lippy. Casper is still dying of cringe and Shitlid sees no way out. For we are all scrambling for our dignity, whilst watching the utter mockery"

It was a joint effort by us all.

Let's be clear: when Alex said he would drive past Sacha in his 4x4 what he meant was that he would leave her behind in his wake, that she is not in his league. It was nothing more sinister than that. This is important. It is so common that people single out the only black person in the show to represent them as "threatening" and "aggressive". Alex should be more careful about the way he behaves - he is old enough to know the way that black men are perceived by the public. Sad but true.

I agree- although unfortunately for him he’s also argued on camera with women. That Ryan is way more scary and unhinged but because he only argued with men the back lash was minimal.
As for the Range Rover comment in no way was it sinister- completely dickish in the I can afford a big car (on finance) than you but not sinister

Teeh · 24/10/2024 08:36

You would think the “best” couple would be awarded a prize or something, by the way they are acting. Am I right in thinking there is no other gain here than the fame a lot of them seem to crave? It’s my first mafs in a long time

Teeh · 24/10/2024 08:37

Yes some people think being able to afford range rovers make them a better person somehow. So strange

NerdWhoEatsMedlar · 24/10/2024 09:17

Respect for Nath. Polly was about to break into a 'who's that wanton hussy wrapped around my husband's nether regions' rant, when Nath breaks into a huge smile and announces as proud as punch "That's Lacey". He seemed so genuinely happy that she was having a good time.
I'm sure we will hear more about the dancing from the strangely puritanical faction.

MouseMinge · 24/10/2024 09:22

I didn't think there was anything sinister about the driving by, it was a part of the I'm better than you, you don't even have a car and I have a big car, etc.

I stand by him being a walking red flag. The women in the group didn't pick up on Ryan because he wasn't going for them. If he'd been around for longer they might have noticed he was a wrong 'un. It's going to sound like bullshit but I genuinely have not been thinking about his colour although thinking about it now that's easy for me but I promise you any and all negative feelings I have for him are down to his aggressive misogyny. The edit won't be helping but as with Polly and Sacha and Stephen and Ryan and Eve and Richelle, the edit can make it worse for you but if you've not played the irredeemable arsehole then the edit has nothing on you.

I'd like to explain all of that a bit better but my cat's arse is now in my face demanding breakfast. He's an arsehole too but totally redeemable.

He is a nice person (if a little vacant). I can't understand why anyone would be jealous or mistrusting of Lacey. She is pretty straightforward and I would think she's the last person who would cheat or even flirt.

He’s a walking red flag, he’s aggressive and the way he shouts people down is awful. He also uses his face and body language to intimidate women, which is frankly awful to watch.

In the news it’s clear an ex accused him of abuse. He ended up in military prison because he went AWOL from the RAF, he also implied he was a pilot in the first episode, which he isn’t.

Some of the women are shouty and annoying but they don’t have his dangerous energy.

Orson isn’t aggressive, Paul (ixpert) isn’t aggressive.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 24/10/2024 09:33

I wondered if Sasha choosing Luke to comfort her was because off screen they have bonded in the gym.

A bit like on MAFS Australia when so many conversations take place off screen in the gym. I'm always 'put a bloody camera in the gym pronto' every year without fail

I would add that the way some people on reality shows sometimes treat people of colour is reprehensible. If any of you watch MIC...I saw Maeva and her husband treat Miles Nazaire as though he is subordinate to them, demanding an apology from him. He stood his ground. Good for him. Producers really need to be alert to this shit.

Sorry to derail the thread, I will shut up now.

What am I reading??

They asked for an apology due to Miles' actions. Nothing to do with his skin colour.

I find it odd how you could even come to that link? Did you see the disrespectful video he posted, do you know their history? Very strange.

JellyBeanFactory · 24/10/2024 10:02

@FootbalIslife I try to stay away from the news so I didn't know that about Alex

Waterboatlass · 24/10/2024 10:12

I think it's fair to say Alex's behaviour singles him out, not his race.

I did wonder though whether the prolonged grinning was spliced in for effect in. Perhaps he was smiling at something funny for part of it.

He seems very blocked and in a rush to get the inevitable fight over with. Can't seem to see an alternative.

He doesn't listen, doesn't feel listened to because he doesn't explain himself clearly, it's all point scoring, doesnt grasp the other person's point because he hasn't listened and then quickly reverts to personal meanness and anger when the tension escalates.

It's very circular. I hope he does a lot of work on himself.

Sionnain and Ryan. The only times I can think of a couple being kicked off are Brad and Shona and Jay and was it Luke? I hope he hasn't hurt her.

ShinyPebble32 · 24/10/2024 10:16

The value of shows like this can’t be underestimated, where behaviours can be examined and discussed out in the open.
I feel a bit shaken but also vindicated by all the discussion around Alex’s behaviour - so many things he does remind me SO MUCH of how my partner can be 😔 it’s so subtle that it’s hard to identify, but is definitely controlling and full of barely disguised aggression.
The worrying thing is that the ‘experts’ and most of the group aren’t recognising and calling out how intimidating his behaviour is.

Italiangreyhound · 24/10/2024 10:26

I can't imagine why Casper and Emma want to be on this Jeremy Kyle style car crash TV. I am surprised this hasn't pushed them closer together!

OnlyWhenILaugh · 24/10/2024 10:33

I was appalled at the ixperts advice to Hollie that she shouldn't raise her objections , disagreements with Alex at the dinner parties etc. and keep those discussions private. That seemed to me to be setting up the means for Alex to isolate and control Hollie.
Their advice was particularly weird given the whole premise of the show of opening up the "marriages" to the group (and global tv 🙄)

Ryan also made me really uncomfortable from the start. He never seemed natural or relaxed. Always on edge, actively controlling how he came across in public. It felt like a front, but not one based on anxiety or low self esteem. Based on him controlling the narrative.

Callmejudith · 24/10/2024 10:35

I hate Alex with every fiber of my being - utterly utterly vile little man. Loved Sascha going for him.

Gaston is hilarious!

banality101 · 24/10/2024 07:10

I would be so interested to watch Richelle argue with Alex, she has such a knack of calmly emasculating men.

That would be great viewing!

Waterboatlass · 24/10/2024 10:42

I was a bit surprised at this late stage Caspar still blaming Emma and vice versa. She's tried after a huge humiliation and he's tried after a huge physical ick (sistergate). I thought they might have seen how bonkers the others are, agreed it was a bad hand but could've been worse, drawn a line under the romance and sex and agreed to show one another solidarity and friendship for the rest of the filming.

thenightsky · 24/10/2024 10:40

YES! She is exactly the kind of woman he should have been put with.

She would see through his rubbish and stay totally ice-cold and articulate, whilst verbally slapping that smug look off his face.

Though tbh, not very fair on her to be put with him.

LRT555 · 24/10/2024 10:45

AndThereSheGoes · 23/10/2024 21:31

I think Polly has found her level with Alex. She had him on the ropes a few times. I was impressed with her ability to argue with the smirking twat actually. She was not phased in the slightest.

I totally agree with this. For the one and only time in this series I was thinking "Go Polly!" she didnt let him get away with anything.

ShinyPebble32 · 24/10/2024 10:46

Tittat50 · 23/10/2024 21:34

Yes Alex is triggering if you know people like this irl

Oh god yes, THIS… my heart was racing watching that scene 😔

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 24/10/2024 10:47

Richelle would have dug out Alex's AWOL from the RAF situation within hours.

Probably would have made a military arrest and marched him to the brig.

Jimbalaya · 24/10/2024 10:49

It's weird looking back how Nafe is nothing like he seemed. Up to the honeymoon he came across as overly cocky and self assured, like when he was bragging about his suit costing a grand. Actually he's a total sweetheart, if not a deep thinker, and is a completely different person to the one first impressions suggested.

MouseMinge · 24/10/2024 10:50

My face is free of cat arse! I'd forgotten the "Am I talking Swahili?" comment. My fleeting thoughts were "Why that language, Polly?", "Internalised racism?", "Does she realise what she's said?", "Am I making something of this when there's nothing?" and then it moved on and the thoughts were too fleeting to stick/remember so I forgot.

Anyway! It was slightly dodgy at best and an uncomfortable moment.

MouseMinge · 24/10/2024 10:55

@Jimbalaya you're so right. At the wedding I thought he was going to be a bog standard teeth and tan influencer, totally in love with himself, nice to look at but appalling to be around. So very wrong.
