I've never got the Neil hate either, I'm not a massive fan but don't loathe him either, I don't hate any of the Pros actually, I think they all have their individual strengths and weaknesses which makes it interesting.

I'm sure I heard her say before that the relationship used to be very open at his end.

Michaela Strachan is doing Dancing On Ice. She's a dance-trained older woman, known to young and old viewers, who has auditioned for Strictly twice and been rejected both times. Given the lack of female celebs this year and the signings who are often neither well-known or any cop as dancers, it does make you wonder what the producers are playing at.

Michaela S hasn't said anything (that I've seen) about auditioning. She said she has never been asked, and seems quite annoyed about it.

Yes, they do audition people. They dance with one of the pros. Rebecca Adlington was another one who auditioned but was turned down. I remember Ian Waite saying that he had been brought in to audition with the prospective female celebs one year.

Oh, Paul and Karen are doing a quickstep to I Won't Dance. They seem hellbent on using music from some of my favourite, iconic routines this series. (Danny and Oti's quickstep.)

Why did Rebecca Adlington not make the cut? She's fab! Doesn't strike me as a natural dancer but would definitely work hard & has a great personality!

Coleen Nolan was hinting she'd like to do it on loose women today. I'm surprised she's not already been asked as a lot of other loose women have.

The casting is so weird these days. Sooooo hit and miss.
Back in the day bar one or two everyone was worth watching for various reasons.

Good names and personalities. Not forced.

Perhaps the audition got introduced after/because of Quentin!

Maybe they cast for a few different reasons; they probably want people who viewers will know (I'd have thought Craig LK and Quentin W were pretty well known) as well as those with good personalities/personal stories, and perhaps a screen test.

Rebecca Adlington – maybe she didn't pass muster for the screen test. Much as I like her, IMO she does come across as a bit dull, especially for a primetime shiny-floor show.
