Who here will watch Philip fake cry and protest his innocence?! He did nothing wrong, did he?

Can't think of anything I'm less interested in watching. He's nothing but a spoiled brat. Years of happy marriage with Steph wasn't enough, because oh dear poor Phil might have missed out through not exploring his attraction to men. Years of media spotlight not enough because now poor Phil's not getting attention and only has his massive wealth. All poor Phil did was tell a tiny lie, and even that wasn't his fault because it was all just homophobia.

DizzyBumble · 30/09/2024 11:51

I will be watching it just out of interest but it will likely enrage me

PassingStranger · 30/09/2024 11:56

Who?

KD99 · 30/09/2024 12:02

sorry but he's a creep so no, shouldn't be given the time of day.

Idontpostmuch · 30/09/2024 12:04

The comparison with him and Prince Andrew is embarrassing.

I do feel a bit sorry for him to be so low he'd consider taking his own life. No, he doesn't have going for him in terms of defence, but people on this website (more other threads rather than this one) painting him as another Dave Lee Travis or Stuart Hall is typical MN hyperbole.

Also, if you really think his wife of 25 years never had an idea what he was up to is very naive.

I don't think it's naive to believe his wife was in the dark. Lying comes naturally to him and she was clearly in love with him. What I don't understand is why she's still supporting him. I can understand her not coming forward with her story for her daughters' sakes but all her OTT optimism is absurd. Money? She must have loads of it anyway and would get a good divorce settlement on top if she walked away. As I see it she's compromising her own dignity and self respect by sucking up to him as she is.

BobbyBiscuits · 30/09/2024 12:11

Apparently he claims he was stabbed in the back and how it's not his fault and his life is ruined, he is suicidal etc. He's disgusting. Him and that sick paedo brother of his. Even in the 80s he made me feel uneasy. So fake. Him and Holly Willoughby were a match made in hell! Her simpering in a polka dot tea dress, him weeping on her shoulder declaring his homosexuality. What an embarrassment to his family!

Thfrog · 30/09/2024 12:13

Gah get him off the telly

1975wasthebest · 30/09/2024 12:18

I don’t know how you could tell she was in love with him unless she’s said so @Idontpostmuch ?

He’s on record for saying when he publicly came out that she knew for a while. Of course she did, there were rumours for years he was gay so it’s likely the woman who he shared his life with since the early 90s knew or suspected. So he had kids with her - so what? Plenty of gay or bi men in heterosexual relationships shag other men and have kids.

Except it is true. You might not like it or find it palatable but it is the case hence in gay circles, you have "Daddies" (I know! Envy <not envy).
You also have "twinks."
You have "bears" and "cubs."
There are big age gaps to be seen, including several high-profile marriages.
Stephen Fry 67 Elliott Spencer 37
Paul Gambaccini 75 Chris Sherwood 39 (the latter says he is only attracted to older males/is a gerontophile)
The late Paul O'Grady 67 was married to Andre Portasio, 26 years younger.
Even Graham Norton's spouse is 15 years younger.

So it may enrage you, but is isn't factually incorrect.

What is it that people don't understand about the fact his bf was a very very junior colleague, so while the massive age gap is revolting it is the power imbalance that is highly inappropriate.

PS seemed to use his position to get him on the telly whilst getting what in return?

He then faked the whole coming out crap as if it was all a big shock when he'd been at it years and everyone apparently knew.

He is a liar, possibly very manipulative and he got caught out. His gayness is irrelevant.

Edited

She was interviewed just after their first child was born and said something about love for him. Also, most women who marry love their partners. Many women don't realise their husbands are being unfaithful with other women so why should it be different with other men?

That's what we should all be saying.

Gah get him off the telly

I watched something on Channel 5 this weekend and his contrite smirking face was in my face again.

Philith, I don’t bloody care about you and if you were guilty or not.

If you see my second statement under the one you quoted, you'll see I absolutely believe the power imbalance to be dodgy as hell.
At the time, this close relationship was passed off as him mentoring a gay protégé. The scandal wasn't just the power dynamic at play/inappropriate relationships in the workplace but that the "mentee" was chewed up and spat out, when no longer needed - and colleagues knew.

BirthdayRainbow · 30/09/2024 21:13

I'm watching it but tbh it's so I can join in with a thread. I can't bear him and hope this is the last we see of him.

Apparently she's worried for his mental health and thinks he's got low enough, that she doesn't want to risk him by divorcing him.

I'm pleased people are seeing the real him now. I worked with him in the 90's and didn't like him. I didn't know anything about the grooming or anything, I just didn't like his attitude towards people. What's come out about him doesn't surprise me in the least. He is such an attention seeker. (and not a very good singer!!!)

We’re really enjoying it.

I would starve to death if it was me.

OriginalUsername2 · 30/09/2024 21:37

I’m so disgusted that this is happening. With him, with everyone involved in it, with everyone that will watch it and with the part of me that is curious about it. Ugh.

He's such a fucking dirtball that it angers me he's being given any airtime at all.

Massive power imbalance & taking advantage of a much more junior employee for his own sexual gratification! Scumbag!

Pocketfullofdogtreats · 30/09/2024 22:03

My first thought was that I hope they leave him there. A bit uncharitable but I really don't want to see him on TV.

AllAboutNiamh · 30/09/2024 22:06

I don’t know any details of what he did or didn’t do, but his wife and daughters are on his side. He’s a human that made a mistake.

We thought this programme was entertaining and he comes across well. I’m pleased to see him back on TV; he’s good at it. This Morning has been utter shite since he left.
