Is anyone watching? New series with Nicole Kidman?

I only managed half an episode. It feels like just another 'Nicole Kidman' vanity project.

The recent one with Zac Effron made me promise myself never to watch anything with NK again.

I really liked Zac Efron though, he was gas 😆

JubileeJuice · 11/09/2024 05:10

SO dull. Predicted the killer immediately and part of how it was done.

Spiderwmn · 11/09/2024 08:47

It was easy watching but the American idea of a French woman was hilarious -couldn’t have been less French if she tried - caked in make up, horrible hair style. And the ne’er do well Brit - his was the only accent I couldn’t understand. They need to get out of Hollywood more.

newnamethanks · 11/09/2024 10:26

Has Isobel Adjani renounced her French nationality? And Greer's brother, name escapes me, is a Scottish actor. Not everyone in a film is American and this was a multi nation production.

Spiderwmn · 11/09/2024 10:44

That wasn’t a Scottish accent

newnamethanks · 11/09/2024 11:12

He's British.

LoobyDoop2 · 11/09/2024 11:42

He’s definitely Scottish, he played Chibs in Sons of Anarchy, and I’ve seen him in something else recently as well.

I thought that the reason Greer went to see Amelia at the zoo was to encourage her not to give up on getting back together with Benji. It makes sense that the book she had written was based on the murder/wedding/breakup story though.

pottymouth40 · 11/09/2024 11:46

I’m a big fan of Elin Hildebrand who’s book this is based on so I don’t think il watch it as I loved the book.

Agree about Nicole Kidman’s surgery face - every scene she was in in The Killing of a Sacred Deer I was like 😬, it’s really distracting. With all her money and being able to afford the best she’s a cautionary tale against having surgery!

rewilded · 11/09/2024 11:57

* Spoiler Alert*

I decided to carry on watching.

I think in the last scene with Greer and Tag, he said "You are going to kill her?!" and Greer said "Yes."

I think Greer is going to kill Amelia for mentioning the French teacher and suspecting foul play. I think Greer did actually kill the teacher. That is why she went to visit her at the Zoo.

Lengokengo · 11/09/2024 11:58

Enjoyable trash. I had got the killer correctly as my first guess, but then kept on changing my mind after.

I too find Isabel ijani and nicole Kidmans faces unbelievably distracting. The work that they have had done is awful. NK is only a couple of alter older than me and I can’t understand why on Earth she has done what she has done to her face. Though I guess the Hollywood pressures on her are a bit different to the aesthetic pressures on me ( ie none!)

i was initially pleased that the lead girl was dark haired, with a reasonably normal figure, and interested in this casting choice, so unthrilled to discover that she is essentially a nepobaby ( but did an ok job).

The scene at the book launch was completely unbelievable, amongst many pretty unbelievable scenes. Some things were very funny: I laughed when the pregnant daughter protected her vintage-wear as a priority over her unborn child.

overall, nice settings, engaging story, total tosh.

burnoutbabe · 11/09/2024 12:02

surely the reason Greer saw Ameila at the zoo was

Ameilia has changed zoo jobs. she is now in London (so one assumes single, carrying on with her career).

Greer was in London for a book thing and looked her up, to say hello/no hard feelings/i wrote a book about your friends murder?.

no greater reason than that.

sleepwithblanket · 11/09/2024 12:42

One thing I can’t tie up was Scooter in the car with what was possibly a family member. It looked like he was being told to bribe or blackmail the family. Did I miss why?

OP posts:
AIstolemylunch · 11/09/2024 12:51

Was he called Scooter? I thought it was Shooter, which was weird.

Anyway, i thought it was all a out the illusion, people hiding who they really were, insta perfect, not really a perfect couple etc. So obviously he was hiding that he's mega rich to Eve Hewson. So i thought this was just about his advisors, lawyers checking that he wasnt inplicated in the murder because of the loan and making sure the police knew he had just leant money to Greer.

Same with the zoo, her aknowledging to Eve Hewson character that she was hiding her real background and was goig to be honest with her going forward?

newnamethanks · 11/09/2024 12:51

Forgive my poor memory but didn't Amelia and whatsit meet at London Zoo where she was looking after penguins and he returned several times before approaching her?

Wineandcupcakes · 11/09/2024 12:58

Wow, people are acting like it’s real or something. 😂

Oh she’s Bono’s kid, didn’t realise.,.

What a stupid comment. How does it affect you that other people are enjoying a discussion about a tv programme, and make you incapable of scrolling on by?

stonkytonk11 · 11/09/2024 13:40

@rewilded he said 'you're going to kill it' as in the new book - I had subtitles on 😄

Ah, haha...still going with my story, just wait and see!

Yes Shooter

I thought it was gonna be the maid! All the jealous looks

Wow, aggressive much? Dial it down.

stonkytonk11 · 11/09/2024 18:11

There was a bit of mystery around Shooter I think - why were him and Greer so close?

Indeed. I was expecting him to be an older son.

The man in the car with shooter seemed to be his dad? A diplomat I think.

Ginmonkeyagain · 11/09/2024 18:37

Innocently - she became a mother figure for him after he lost his mum at a young age.

Les innocently they were at it (there seemed to be a lot of cross generational shagging going on)

Such a boring and daft comment. Nobody is doing that and you're in the wrong place clearly.

I'm loving it. So far. Though I might have googled it and know everything already... 😊
