"Their journey begins in Belém, Northern Brazil - the gateway to the Amazon - and will pass through five checkpoints across the length of South America, to reach the finish line in the Andes, Frutillar in Southern Chile."

It may not have been discussed, I seem to be the only one questioning the timings. Others haven't noticed. It never bothered me before I guess but suddenly I'm more aware. It has ruined it for me now as it isn't a fair race

@Tuyouyou It could be that Team 1 could leave at 9.38pm and team 2 3.30am but both chose to leave first thing in the morning due to no transport or accommodation. I would rather have 3 extra hours in bed that leave exhausted at 3am!

I see what you mean but it's not that. They were obviously told to leave at 6am and there was no transport so they were stuck. Then team 2 left an hour later, which the narrator states it's 1 hour but he doesn't mention why when they were 6 hours behind at check in.

I see what you mean. I assumed that if you got there at 9pm for example you left 48 hours later, but then so often they will arrive at 11 pm for example but the don’t leave then.

I was a little disappointed tbh. Not as good as I was looking forward to - the normal ratw is my favourite programme.

Watched on catch up. Nice mix of celebrities. Kelly and her husband are amusing with their bickering, he's v competitive!

The bickering all seemed fairly good natured too. At this early stage anyway!

I have always assumed they manipulate the end of the rest period to keep the race competitive. It spoils it slightly for me but I cut them some slack because it's such a huge gamble they can only do the game once so it has to just work.

If you want a travel game with strict adherence to the rules, you might like Jetlag the Game on YouTube and Nebula. I am completely addicted. It's slightly different as the teams have to do silly challenges and forfeits to advance in the game and usually they aren't on a strict budget. But it is fun and clever and about making excellent connections (usually on public transport or aeroplanes).

I really do love this show. Kelly irritated me last week but I don't mind her tonight.

Freddy seems a sweet kid and I've always liked Jeff.

And I’m feeling very justified. On here a while ago I was told that I wasn’t a very worldly traveller because I said that not everywhere will happily take US dollars.

And Jeff is letting him take charge so that he can grow up.

Freddy also seems to have picked up some of the lingo and isn't afraid to approach people to ask for info or help. He seems like a nice lad.

There was quite a gap between the teams. Second and third were 10am and 3 pm!
