I think that is totally fair enough. Poor kid never knew his mother and has clearly spent his entire life being told about her, having other people’s memories of her projected on to him and being expected to feel emotions about it. It’s a bit fucked up really. Let’s face it, he would be less of a desirable booking on TV shows if it wasn’t because of who his mother is, yet he has no personal connection to her at all. He seems like a great lad, I wish they’d just give the Jade stuff a rest. His brother is talented in his own right, hopefully both will be allowed to leave their mother’s shadow once they’ve had a bit of exposure that allows them to be themselves.

I think he has a mother figure in Jeff’s wife, who has been around so be he was small. Hope they mentioned her off-camera in the context of Mother’s Day.

(PS nothing against Jade, I liked her and was sad when she died).

I had no idea who Freddie of Jeff were and only realise the connection with Jade when I looked them up. I don’t think she has had a single mention on the show yet outside of Freddie saying things in passing like his mother having died, but even then not who she was.

The poor lad has had a very odd start in life having to explain who his mother was to people without ever really knowing her as a person.

It's very similar to his brother Bobby - l felt like he was being exploited somewhat on Strictly because he was being identified as Jade's son, and I thought the dance was mawkish.
He never really knew her, sadly, but I hope they can forge more of an identity outside of their mother's death..

Yes, especially since he was already in Eastenders so had a perfectly solid claim to be there without being Jade’s son.

Are you sure you’re not mixing BH up with another city? It’s a fairly bland place, though it is a hub for the historical towns in Minas Gerais like Ouro Preto.

I remember Kelly being quite competitive on Strictly years ago, but next to Jeremy you wouldn't notice it at all. I'd rather travel with her than him, I think he'd be a bit of a miserable travel companion!

I'm just watching that bit now. She was joking that they couldn't afford it because it was 5 reais per condom, and they hadn't factored it into the budget. Grin

She seems good fun, I laughed at her story about thinking being a nun would be a nice life and then becoming a page 3 girl.

I think she seems fun too @PolkadotsAndMoonbeams - I wasn't a big fan beforehand but she's growing on me in this!

I'm loving everyone taking part except Scott. Not sure why as I like him on the radio, but he just doesn't seem comfortable in his own skin & that's making him an uncomfortable watch for me! I like his fiance / husband but there's something with Scott that I'm finding off-putting.

I think Scott has been quite open about his self confidence struggles tbh. He has always been a diva. But also kind and loving. Have listened to him since his early days.

Loving this. Backpacked around central and South America several decades ago and remember those long bus journeys! Think the longest we did was around 34/36 hours! Dh and dc getting fed up with me saying - been there! Fab country. 😍

To be fair, I had to talk to my DS like he was a young boy sometimes because his ADHD meant I had to split things down into smaller tasks or prod him into doing something,

Jeff spoke out about Freddie's adhd in 2017. They are possibly waiting till later in the series to mention it or maybe they've chosen not to discuss it on this show

I'm not sure if I've seen your previous comment. I was only responding to the sn not being mentioned. I've noticed Jeff hasn't spoke about it in a few of the recent tv interviews, it made me think i had imagined the article I'd read. It was possibly first announced in an ok magazine deal, theres a few that come up on Google.

Thanks, I missed that quip. I did hear about nuns have quite a nice life. I know Kelly got into gardening and so she'd probably have loved that aspect of daily life in a convent 😀

I've never heard Kelly on radio. I did see her on SCD when she left early because her father died. On this I think she is coming across as authentic and not taking herself too seriously. She was on something, or quoted from interview, saying that when they were asked to do this she thought, great, this can be the exotic honeymoon we didn't have, and boy was it a rude awakening with the epic bus journeys and so on.

I'm looking forward to this week's episode.
