So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

True, Those are long term on Corrie, and developed over time, and but Hope, Lauren,Kelly, Betsy, are horrible little bitches!

I felt pretty much the same about the diners at Speed Daal, trying to eat their dinner while Gary roughed up Mason and had a huge row with Stu. Corrie is a weird place nowadays, every other character is a criminal.

There are so many characters now that we never see in screen, the families in the street never mix together anymore, in fact we rarely see families together, when we’re all the Tilsley’s and Platts ever in the same room now? there is no banter with the bar staff at the Rovers because there is never any more than one person behind the bar, it’s lovely watching classic where Shelly is bar manager bossing around Violet and Kieran, it looks and feels like a real pub with all the noise and action going on, plus the gripping evil Charly storyline. The Kabin is a shadow of its former self and rarely seen, the hairdressers is always empty, the only saving grace is the Bistro which does have a buzz about it. Sadly I think that CS is losing money hand over fist and I don’t think they can afford the quality of years ago, It’s such a shame.

Has Ken now fully recovered from his broken hip? Cassie doesn't seem to need to go caring for him any more.

I hope so as well, it would be awful if it ended so I would rather bargain basement Corrie than no Corrie, it’s just such a stark contrast when you watch classic, sad times.

Ken's hip isn't getting a look-in is it. It was just a plot device to bring Cassie and Steve into each other's orbits. Which I don't mind as they do work well together (as much as Cassie can work at all).

I actually enjoyed last night's episode, I am shocked😆 I thought it was well written, and Tyrone does indeed have the brains of a rocking horse, always has had.

Alina brings a bit of energy to proceedings and her child is gorgeous. Looks like she's staying, well done Fizz!

It looks as if the wheels are starting to fall off for The Institute. I'll be glad when that storyline is over.

On the downside, we got yet another "diners are interrupted by furious local", this time Sean.

Might be better if they cut down to two episodes a week and paid for a new team of scriptwriters.

What do we think about Amy, has she been taken in?

Where did Amy get money to invest? Was she left a load by Blanche or Deirdre?

@FeltCarrot The odd thing is, many writers from 20 odd years ago (when it was good) are still writing now. Last night it was Mark Burt, I recognise his name from Classic. Also Carmel Morgan, Simon Crowther, Chris Fewtrell, Damon Rochefort, probably others. The problem isn't the writers, it's the storylining.

Amy seems well and truly taken in.

I think she's working undercover for Bethany and/or Toyah getting evidence of The Institute's dodgy ways.

I googled lol. Fandom tells me it is Flat 2, Weatherfield Precinct. Still not sure if it’s the same flat as Aadi when he lived somewhere with his girlfriend

I think it's the flat where Aaron raped Amy?

I thought that was the flat next to the builders yard where that happened. Didn’t Amy move in there for a while?

I get confused as to who lives where. Amy, Summer and both boyfriends shared a flat at one time. Not sure who lives there now.
