So, currently broadcast (and just caught up with) Friday 2nd August. Recap:

Lauren - given birth to baby boy at 24 weeks after Joel hid labour inducing drugs in her soup
Jack - been charged with arson with intent to endanger life (Hope seemed pleased!)
Paul - going to donate his corneas to MND research, much to Bernie's dismay
Beth - lost box of fake t-shirts and told Carla where to stuff her job

Like most others I imagine I despised Mason the bully and when he came back wanting to start afresh with a new attitude (it's possible for bullies to reform) it was a very good sign. Now though if hints that there's bad stuff yet to come with his storyline are true then Corrie will yet again have messed up. I say this as currently scraping my memory to find a nice decent happy ending in the last few years.

• I don't think I've broken a spoiler rule as it's painfully obvious something's going to go wrong before long.

Oops Bernie just told Billy Paul had died before he called.

Surely most of the street would've been at the funeral. As if fizz and Tyrone wouldn't be there.

And Todd would have sat with Summer...

Yes a funeral for someone that age would be packed.

That was horrible of Bernie. Poor Billy, what a shock.

Was waiting for that to happen!

I thought that was a good send off for Paul, and the writers did a good of making me feel sorry for Billy. Nice scenes with Todd. I know Bernie is grieving (we're told every 20 seconds) but it's no excuse for being such a gigantic pain in the backside.

And some thoughtful scenes with Fizz and Ty, which is a turn up for the books.

I'm not sure Fizz and Ty would be at the funeral - they barely spoke to Paul over the past year did they? In the old days every resident of the street would be at a funeral or wedding but there isn't the same feeling of community any more. They didn't even bother to have Jenny behind the bar. At least they got a scene (clearly added separately) of Rita talking about Paul.

My son has a permanent stoma as well as type 1 diabetes he’s just finished his masters jumped out of a plane last week and it’s currently travelling round Greece but you know it will be forgotten.

was the Alina storyline to emphasise this pregnancy with fizz? I think they should bump off Alina and bring back the cracking little actor he was so cute! Daddy Tyrone

I wondered the same thing about Dorin, he was adorable and needs to return.

Where were all Paul’s friends from his wild youth?
Didn’t see a single one.
But they’re probably keeping them for the rave I suppose.

Of course Fizz and Ty would have been at the funeral, they are family. It was a pathetic turn out overall.

Was the actor who played Paul's dad in Soldier Soldier ?

Fiz and Ty will probably have to lie to "the girls" that she loses the baby. They both have children but none as a couple so the sadness about that is very touching.

Hey ho though writers.. Loads more scope for misery and twisty faces. It's the soap which keeps on giving. 🙄😓

Fizz and Ty are married. They need a baby to complete their little family. Hope and Maureen Lipman can head off to bad girl school and Cassie can vanish. I just need a happy little family.

I want to see a little Fizroyne as well !!
