I can’t see a thread yet but please do point me in the right direction if there is one!

Anyone else watching? It’s all kicking off at 6:30pm, apparently with the athletes parade first.

London 2012 OC was remarkable, I’m hoping the French can match that magic!

He's sooooo miming. Bet he's not a real castrati either.

🤣

LaeralSilverhand · 26/07/2024 20:10

Ooh I know this guy! Opera singer who is also a breakdancer!

ResisterOfTwaddleRex · 26/07/2024 20:10

I'm getting very worried about people getting ill now. They must have been on these boats for hours!

Tell me that in 2024 post pandemic, you understand how viruses are transmitted!
Getting wet is not the way!

RaraRachael · 26/07/2024 20:10

Well Paris is shit Concurred - the only city I've really hated

Just as well they're miming otherwise they'd never be heard above the rain

NigelHarmansNewWife · 26/07/2024 20:10

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 26/07/2024 20:04

Surprised by all the comments about the sound of the rain. No sound problems on American TV and dont hear the rain at all

Ah - I think I've worked it out. The Beeb are live broadcasting and cutting to the pre-recorded track for the set pieces. Unless it's just stopped lashing it down.

Should get him to drop his pants to prove it

JaneJeffer · 26/07/2024 20:10

stayathomer · 26/07/2024 20:07

Can’t hear the rain on Irish tv either!

Maybe we're immune to it? Grin I can't hear it either!

the80sweregreat · 26/07/2024 20:10

Two more hours until they light the ' big flame '
Then they will all congregate around it for some warmth

RexKwando · 26/07/2024 20:11

Really dont get the hate for Paris. It's a beautiful place.

banivani · 26/07/2024 20:11

The fella who sang is a Polish singer Kalle’s Jakub Orliński - look him up on YouTube, he’s fantastic and the comment section is hilarious with people swooning over his good looks :)

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 26/07/2024 20:11

Bouledeneige · 26/07/2024 20:09

RexKwando Farage must have had a heart attack seeing the refugee boat.

I reckon he's the assassin's creed guy in the mask

Sethera · 26/07/2024 20:11

Izzynohopanda · 26/07/2024 20:08

Yes, I thought the same.

The soaked-through choir singing 'Land of Hope and Glory' amid the torrential rain was the most British spectacle ever, and made it for me.

WhitesAndStripes · 26/07/2024 20:11

Got to laugh that Stop the Boats is trending on twitter.

Zanatdy · 26/07/2024 20:11

I think it’s the BBC commentary with the rain. It’s pretty heavy, also the cameras have rain drops on!

Misthios · 26/07/2024 20:11

Kudos to the BBC researchers who have provided Andrew Cotter and Hazel Irvine with all the wee facts about every team, every country and every flag.

True, but being wet makes your temp drop and makes you more vulnerable to virus transmission.

motheronthedancefloor · 26/07/2024 20:12

Someone posted that on X 😂

AnnaMagnani · 26/07/2024 20:12

DH massively over-excited to see Jakub Orlinski singing miming Rameau.

Yes he's a real counter-tenor and yes he really does breakdance.

I'm loving this. Just feel sorry for them with the crap weather. We know crap weather

The dancing is embarrassing!

TellyUsername · 26/07/2024 20:12

The droll comment about hula hooping did me

LaeralSilverhand · 26/07/2024 20:12

The breakdancing opera singer is Jakub Orlinski and yeah that’s his real voice, he’s a countertenor. Although obviously lip-syncing there.
