Olympic Opening ceremony watch along

Anyone else watching? It’s all kicking off at 6:30pm, apparently with the athletes parade first.

London 2012 OC was remarkable, I’m hoping the French can match that magic!

And the can-can dancers are rubbish. So under-rehearsed. Totally uncoordinated.

The dancers are mad! You must need binoculars to see what they’re doing.

I’ve just watched the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleading show…this is not how you high kick!

I mean… if you didn’t know it wasn’t rehearsed, you’d guess!

Was that Boris on the zip wire?

The torch bearer looks a bit scary

because women flashing their knickers while dancing badly is what every opening ceremony needs.

Tacky and cheap looking outfits

Is it not too soon to take a flame to Notre Dame...

This is all very low rent. My 8-year-old is now doing a better cancan than the performers.

The masked torch bearer going on zipwires is the best bit so far.

If you go to the actual Moulin Rouge, the dancers are topless. Guess that would be a bit outre for an international audience!😂

I really wouldn’t recommend going near Notre Dame with a naked flame, even an Olympic one!

You know it’s not going well when the brilliant dancers from the Moulin Rouge look a bit meh…

I've been in an opening ceremony (Commonwealth Games) and the director wanted to make the athletes' parade different - i.e. more interesting and as quick as possible precisely because it can go on and on. I'm guessing the director here thought he'd go for something completely different to try to achieve that.

Do we think the Eiffel Tower will be the cauldron?!

But the procession is normally right near the end of the whole thing.

Cancan dancers were a bit amateur looking

Spooky character has just taken a flame to a famous cathedral - that burnt down 🤔

And have never seen a can-can.

That gold background was stunning though

But it is team GB. The Irish team is an all-Ireland team.
