Lost Boys & Fairies is a three-part series that starts on BBC1 from Monday June 3 at 9pm with episodes running weekly at the same time.

Lost Boys & Fairies is a powerful new drama on BBC One that advocates for the rights of the gay community to parent a child. It stars Sion Daniel Young as Gabriel, a singer and performer who works at the queer nightclub, Neverland, who adopts a child with his partner, Andy (Fra Fee).

But to truly be able to parent his son Jake, Gabriel must first revisit his own painful past and repair the fractured relationship he has with his own father.

Lost Boys & Fairies features a mix of Welsh language scenes and singing performances as it follows Gabriel (Sion Daniel Young), a singer and ‘artiste-extraordinaire’ who performs at the queer club Neverland in Cardiff.

The drama begins as Gabriel and his partner Andy are encouraged by their social worker, Jackie (Elizabeth Berrington), to attend a special event where they can meet children up for adoption.

It’s there that the couple first come across seven-year-old Jake (Leo Harris). But while Andy, who works as an accountant, is convinced Jake is a great match for them, Gabriel remains hesitant as he struggles with his own painful memories and issues from his childhood and dad Emrys (William Thomas).

but before he can throw himself into parenthood, Gabriel must come to terms with his own traumatic childhood. And part of the process is healing the rifts between him and his own dad

Starring as singer Gabriel, aka Gabe, in Lost Boys & Fairies is Sion Daniel Young. Gabe lives with his partner Andy but things aren't easy.
"Andy and Gabe have a gorgeous relationship. They’ve been together for eight years and are keen to start a family. However, there are lots of things that Gabe has tried to keep under wraps. And as the adoption process gets underway it brings them all to the surface.

Gabe lost his mum when he was a child. The strained relationship with his dad defines his inability at times to manage the adoption process.

The series is incredibly emotive and beautiful written by Daf James, who has gone through his own experience of adoption.

I was floored when I first read the scripts. The overriding theme is love!"

Widow parent ? I'm hoping Andy isn't dead

Hope you haven't seen e4 and that's a spoiler

Sorry have you not seen episode two? He is clearly dead at the end after hitting his head trying to stop the guys causing trouble. So the next episode will either be widowed parent or Gabe just being off his head and spiraling.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 12/06/2024 20:20

i dont think there is an e4 @Blondeshavemorefun

SoupDragon · 12/06/2024 20:27

I think Andy is clearly dead at the end of E2 too (although I wouldn't be disappointed to be wrong!)

there are only 3 episodes to this.

purpleme12 · 12/06/2024 20:30

Maybe @Blondeshavemorefun meant to say 'hope you haven't seen episode 3 and that's a spoiler '

And she's hoping he's not dead

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2024 20:31

Well that was some powerful TV. So many excellent aspects the script, the cast, the portrayal of social work, decent soundtrack.
I wept a lot. Watching kids having to meet fancy dress potential adopters was heart wrenching.
Was going to comment on ep3 but sitting on my hands.
Just to say it continues the quality and warmth of the first 2.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/06/2024 21:00

@rumred def sit on hands 😂😂

Incredible and emotional from start to finish brilliant TV all round

SittingontheSidelines · 18/06/2024 06:03

I did binge watch and have been sitting on it but finding it hard not to talk about.
Like you @Blondeshavemorefun I didn't expect the death and didn't believe Andy was dead and thought that somehow he'd be back the next night. There were so many moments but (apart from the obvious death scenes) as a foster cared I think the two moments that really got to me and had me in tears were: the initial lost boys and fairies song; the lyrics were so relevant to the children we care for, every line was poignant. Secondly that quiet understated moment when on what was supposed to be his last night in his foster home his foster mother stood a moment watching him sleeping. I'm welling up just remembering. And happy moment... finally driving off together to start their new life.

Mydogisagentleman · 18/06/2024 09:09

Well, that killed me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 18/06/2024 09:09

I'm glad the adoption still took place

Haven’t watched E3 yet but E2! 😢 It has had me in tears throughout. Such lovely moments.

SoupDragon · 18/06/2024 09:24

I was in tears during the Mad World scenes. Heartbreaking (and very disturbing! Unexpected for The BBC!)

Gabe's therapy scenes were excellent, as was the one with the birth mother.

Plus his dad came round completely. That quite moment in the car where he took Gabe's hand and when he wrote Jake's welcome card were perfect.

spiderlight · 18/06/2024 13:00

I don't think I've ever been so wrung out as I was watching this. We watched the first two at TV pace but couldn't wait a week for the third. It was so intense - Gabe's breakdown, and wonderful Berwyn picking him up and helping to put him back together. The scene when he came out of the house to go to the funeral and his dad was walking quietly amongst all the Neverland performers was powerful, and his dad writing the card from Dadcu had me absolutely sobbing. Best thing I've watched in a long time.

Scrambledchickens · 18/06/2024 13:09

Absolutely loved it, one of the best things I’ve watched this year and the scene with the bm will stay with me, phenomenal acting.
