LOST BOYS AND FAIRIES. MON BBC 1 9pm - TV PACE. NO SPOILERS

Lost Boys & Fairies is a three-part series that starts on BBC1 from Monday June 3 at 9pm with episodes running weekly at the same time.

Lost Boys & Fairies is a powerful new drama on BBC One that advocates for the rights of the gay community to parent a child. It stars Sion Daniel Young as Gabriel, a singer and performer who works at the queer nightclub, Neverland, who adopts a child with his partner, Andy (Fra Fee).

But to truly be able to parent his son Jake, Gabriel must first revisit his own painful past and repair the fractured relationship he has with his own father.

Lost Boys & Fairies features a mix of Welsh language scenes and singing performances as it follows Gabriel (Sion Daniel Young), a singer and ‘artiste-extraordinaire’ who performs at the queer club Neverland in Cardiff.

The drama begins as Gabriel and his partner Andy are encouraged by their social worker, Jackie (Elizabeth Berrington), to attend a special event where they can meet children up for adoption.

It’s there that the couple first come across seven-year-old Jake (Leo Harris). But while Andy, who works as an accountant, is convinced Jake is a great match for them, Gabriel remains hesitant as he struggles with his own painful memories and issues from his childhood and dad Emrys (William Thomas).

but before he can throw himself into parenthood, Gabriel must come to terms with his own traumatic childhood. And part of the process is healing the rifts between him and his own dad

Starring as singer Gabriel, aka Gabe, in Lost Boys & Fairies is Sion Daniel Young. Gabe lives with his partner Andy but things aren't easy.
"Andy and Gabe have a gorgeous relationship. They’ve been together for eight years and are keen to start a family. However, there are lots of things that Gabe has tried to keep under wraps. And as the adoption process gets underway it brings them all to the surface.

Gabe lost his mum when he was a child. The strained relationship with his dad defines his inability at times to manage the adoption process.

The series is incredibly emotive and beautiful written by Daf James, who has gone through his own experience of adoption.

I was floored when I first read the scripts. The overriding theme is love!"

Recommended this programme by a colleague.

I've just watched the final episode. Those of you watching at TV pace are in for a treat.

I think it's really well written and what the BBC does best. I love the way the Welsh and English languages are intertwined. And thanks to the poster who said the soundtrack is on BBC sounds. Some of the tunes are amazing.

I'll be back next week, as I need to talk about episode 2!

SoupDragon · 08/06/2024 11:37

@SammyScrounge it clearly says "NO SPOILERS" in the thread title!

thankyouforthedayz · 08/06/2024 11:44

Aw I'm still crying. As well as the two central characters, Becky and the Gabe's drag Queen best friend are beautifully portrayed characters.

mikado1 · 08/06/2024 13:10

Lots of posters being really unfair. TV Pace and no spoilers!!

In a way but then this happens a lot these days when all episodes are dropped in one go. Hardly anyone watches TV in the linear format anymore these days anyway.

But this thread says clearly it's TV PACE 🫠

purpleme12 · 08/06/2024 13:19

What do you mean in a way?
No one's forbidding anyone who wants to binge are they
But from the thread title this thread isn't really for them then. And anyone could make a new thread if they wanted to, that is for people who are watching ahead

I just meant that it’s understandable that some folk who’ve watched ahead didn’t read the title properly or forgot about it when they were posting their thoughts.

purpleme12 · 08/06/2024 13:25

It's a real shame that people don't bother to read properly

Of course but the title has specifically said it and a number of posters have reiterated it! I'm purposely watching it TV pace.

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/06/2024 17:22

Sighs

Happens every time

It does piss me off as title clearly says TV PACE

people can't wait to come on and say I've binged /watched them all and talk about the programme

Episodes that haven't been shown

Some do watch tv pace aka weekly in this case or 3 days in a row etx depending how the series is laid out

I like discussing episodes and plot lines and see other peoples point of view over stuff that has happened in that episode

It does bug me that iPlayer add all even before been shown on tv

But

People can read surely

You'd think people would be able to read wouldn't you

butterpuffed · 08/06/2024 19:18

Yes you would . If people can read the name of the drama in the title then how come they can't read TV PACE NO SPOILERS .

As someone with reading comprehension thats better than the average six year old.

We watched the first episode tonight, we both really enjoyed what we’ve seen so far, but by god Gabriel those socks did not go with those shoes. I remember going to a matching event as a parent as someone the adopters could ask questions, the little brochures with the children in were so upsetting, the children above about 4 were also very very aware they were essentially selling themselves.

Very good representations of internalised shame.

SoupDragon · 08/06/2024 23:04

Sometimes I watch them linear, sometimes I might watch an episode on the right day but at a slightly different time to the broadcast time (I do this with
Eastenders a lot as it often clashes with dance pick up!) Occasionally I might watch a whole series randomly but I don't think I ever do this if it's being shown weekly on "live" TV.

if you watch everything all at once you soon run out of things to watch. I binge a lot of series on streaming services so it's nice to have something where I have to wait for the next episode.

I'm sorry. I thought the show was finished by the time I posted. I hope I haven't spoiled anyone's viewing

I'm similar

Something that's been on like lod then could watch a few a night

But something that's on weekly I like to watch when it's on or the day , possibly an hour earlier due to working shift pattern

But wouldn't reply on thread till finished on tv

Esp with drama /detective - it's nice to chat about theories
