On for 6w on Sunday at 9pm

This thread is tv paced !!!!

This brand-new six-part thriller, starring Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage, promises nerve-wracking plot twists, heart-stopping performances, and a compelling narrative that spans continents. Set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on the 21st of April, here's why Red Eye should be at the top of your must-watch list...

Red Eye kicks off with an adrenaline-fuelled opening that sets the tone for the rest of the series. Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage), after a near-death experience in Beijing, finds himself entangled in a web of accusations upon his return to London.

Arrested for a murder he insists he didn't commit, Nolan's life spirals into chaos.

The plot thickens when DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), tasked with escorting Nolan back to China, discovers a murder on their flight, unraveling a series of events that suggest a deeper, more sinister plot at play.

One of Red Eye's most compelling features is its unpredictability. With a storyline that introduces twist after twist, viewers are kept on the edge of their seats, guessing what could possibly happen next.

Each episode peels back layers of intrigue, revealing geopolitical tensions and sinister forces that suggest no one can be trusted.

The series boasts an array of famous faces, delivering strong performances that bring depth and complexity to their roles.

Jing Lusi's portrayal of DC Hana Li is both compelling and nuanced, presenting a character whose determination and grit are matched only by the mysteries she faces.

Richard Armitage's Dr. Matthew Nolan is equally captivating, offering a glimpse into the psyche of a man fighting to clear his name while navigating a labyrinth of lies and deception.

Red Eye is both pacy and frenetic, mirroring the urgency and danger that the characters face, and this rapid tempo ensures that there's never a dull moment, with each episode drawing the viewer deeper into the unfolding conspiracy.

Helping to further bolster the series are its high production values and striking visuals – the international setting of the series, spanning from the bustling streets of Beijing to the imposing presence of London's Heathrow Airport, provides a rich backdrop for the narrative.

I also agree that I think most of them are spies.

But when I’m on a flight, if someone on row 32 farts it wakes me up. Never mind two people being tortured 🤣🤣 how good are the headphones on this airline?! And when can I fly with them? Will risk death for chance of good plane sleep

Yeah we saw him going into settings to change the face / code

Agree this week's ep the best yet, seems to be hitting its straps. No-one buys Matthew's 'I'm just a simple doctor' schtick.

daffodilandtulip · 06/05/2024 11:33

It's definitely a "don't open mumsnet" kind of drama!

Deathraystare · 06/05/2024 14:28

@duc748

When he went to the dead guy to try to open it with facial recognition (successfully?), I was wondering, did he know who it belonged to, or was he guessing?

Oh is that what he was doing?! I am not very technical and just thought he was taking his photo for some reason!!

Ive rewatched the end. I don't see bin changing pin

Then see him walk down the isle of the plane and sit and finishes

I'm guessing they were gagged?

I think that the pilot must have been threatened (his family?) otherwise he would have turned back wouldn't he?

Or he has been paid to fly there no matter what!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/05/2024 16:08

@diddl I said that about the captain as kept looking at the pic he had of his family on think e1

Mmm I think the pilot's in on it somehow (whatever's actually going on!)

My daughter works for an American airline. I kid you not, they've had to specify that assistance animals MUST be dogs. This is because they've had a passenger rock up with a peacock and one with a miniature pony.
You couldn't make it up.

JMSA · 06/05/2024 17:33

Lesley Sharps acting is really poor in this 😳

It's like she's trying too hard to sound posh, and is therefore over enunciating all her words.
And I'm trying to put this really diplomatically, but she doesn't seem a likely match for the American bloke.

martinisforeveryone · 06/05/2024 17:34

I think we're just going to have to ignore all the gaping plot holes because there are so many and they don't stop coming 😂 Having said that though, how realistic is it that you'd work for an employer for 10 years, not only never having been to their head office, but not even having Googled Streetview for a look see? So how much can you trust Matthew/Matt.

Surely you need to input your pin before you can change the log on method? So I didn't think he'd done that with the phone.

Shen said 'it's not safe tonight' and had no choice but to trap Matt and drug him, but then she'd immediately served her useful purpose. As she was tortured though that must've been for information and we don't know if she gave that up or not. She also said she was sorry to Matt didn't she.

All I kind of know so far is that the English and Americans think the Chinese are responsible for the murders and the Chinese think it's the English or the Americans or both.

I really wouldn't want to be in Jess's shoes.

duc748 · 06/05/2024 17:40

Shen said 'it's not safe tonight'

That was to Chris, wasn't it? Who clearly speaks Mandarin. Or did.

Sorry yes. I didn't mean an implication that she said it to Matthew, just that it was a kind of plot announcement to the viewer.

KatpissEverdeen · 08/05/2024 20:36

Well, I usually love a bit of Lesley Sharp - "Bob would NEVER leave me!", but Christ, she's fucking abysmal in this. It's like she's been lobotomised.

purpleme12 · 08/05/2024 20:43

I don't think she's awful

Blondeshavemorefun · 08/05/2024 21:36

Why awful ?
I think she's good

Completely agree!
Acting posh by numbers.

She's usually so good! Scott & Bailey was outstanding, but she's so wooden in this - like she's reading from a slow autocue. And she's not the only one.

I lost interest halfway through, especially as the plot holes were so numerous. DH enjoyed it although agreed it was a bit silly.

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/05/2024 17:21

E4 tonight

😂 you don't sound as if you're enjoying it
