On for 6w on Sunday at 9pm

This thread is tv paced !!!!

This brand-new six-part thriller, starring Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage, promises nerve-wracking plot twists, heart-stopping performances, and a compelling narrative that spans continents. Set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on the 21st of April, here's why Red Eye should be at the top of your must-watch list...

Red Eye kicks off with an adrenaline-fuelled opening that sets the tone for the rest of the series. Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage), after a near-death experience in Beijing, finds himself entangled in a web of accusations upon his return to London.

Arrested for a murder he insists he didn't commit, Nolan's life spirals into chaos.

The plot thickens when DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), tasked with escorting Nolan back to China, discovers a murder on their flight, unraveling a series of events that suggest a deeper, more sinister plot at play.

One of Red Eye's most compelling features is its unpredictability. With a storyline that introduces twist after twist, viewers are kept on the edge of their seats, guessing what could possibly happen next.

Each episode peels back layers of intrigue, revealing geopolitical tensions and sinister forces that suggest no one can be trusted.

The series boasts an array of famous faces, delivering strong performances that bring depth and complexity to their roles.

Jing Lusi's portrayal of DC Hana Li is both compelling and nuanced, presenting a character whose determination and grit are matched only by the mysteries she faces.

Richard Armitage's Dr. Matthew Nolan is equally captivating, offering a glimpse into the psyche of a man fighting to clear his name while navigating a labyrinth of lies and deception.

Red Eye is both pacy and frenetic, mirroring the urgency and danger that the characters face, and this rapid tempo ensures that there's never a dull moment, with each episode drawing the viewer deeper into the unfolding conspiracy.

Helping to further bolster the series are its high production values and striking visuals – the international setting of the series, spanning from the bustling streets of Beijing to the imposing presence of London's Heathrow Airport, provides a rich backdrop for the narrative.

I'm confused, weren't the other passengers they asked to go back to China doctors from the conference too? Why was one able to just leave the airport if they are crucial witnesses?

The Chinese diplomat on the phone to MI5 said the 4 didn’t have to return so that’s why he was able to walk off the plane

MabelMoo23 · 21/04/2024 22:25

But as someone who has been to China many many times, the most unrealistic bit is a deserted road in Beijing!!!

daffodilandtulip · 21/04/2024 22:42

I liked (probably the wrong word) her pointing out that she was born in Hong Kong and they wanted to send her to Beijing; but the ignorant policeman just looked at her blankly. I think she's going to turn out to be a goody and save the man.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 21/04/2024 22:46

I enjoyed it. Love Lesley Sharp.

duc748 · 21/04/2024 22:48

Skimming though the thread, the thread, the vote seems broadly positive. Dipping in now. 🙂

Clawdy · 21/04/2024 22:52

Will definitely watch next week, but wish it was four episodes, not six.

Clawdy · 21/04/2024 22:56

No link to the Cillian Murphy film apparently. Strange they picked the same title.

martinisforeveryone · 21/04/2024 23:01

I’m not convinced by Lesley Sharp’s performance so far and I don’t think her part’s well written, which obviously doesn’t help. Didn’t buy into her relationship with the American.

Am worried about the guy who was bundled into the white van in the car park.

Didn't that happen to Tom hanks in terminal

I’ve no idea. I haven’t seen it and I never knew that was a thing until tonight lol

There’s six episodes? Maybe there will be a lot of twists and turns then

I liked it and will probably enjoy the series.

But... agree with others there are lots of unrealistic holes.

Since when does the cockpit have a direct hatch into the hold area? I can see that coming in handy later in the flight.

How does an unknown person manage to get themselves intentionally locked in the hold without anyone questioning it.

Special meals must be ordered waaaay in advance. No way would they have gluten free and vegan meals prepared for the unexpected passengers.

There's at least 3 pilots on long haul flights, sometimes 4 for very long flights.

How did the white van get a parking space at VERY short notice, right next to the guys car, in airport short stay parking.

But, I did enjoy it for what it is... a good mystery drama!

I wonder who wants him dead... and why.

Blondeshavemorefun · 21/04/2024 23:47

How come no one has mentioned the air hostess swapping trolley dolly's

Was it drugs ?

Or

Why is a small dog allowed in a handbag on a plane

As soon as he said I don't want the meal I knew that was how the man was going to die. Via poison /meal

The 4th researcher who got off the plane - who has kidnapped bin

I can't believe that our super detective didn't even twig about the vegan meal, even though it was destined for a high-profile prisoner she was responsible for! 😃

MrsLargeEmbodied · 22/04/2024 04:59

i was going to turn it off but i enjoyed it, as Guardian review says, Silly fun.
it was frantic

Is it the avionics bay?

martinisforeveryone · 22/04/2024 07:23

It’s true, there really are lots of dramatic licence issues.

No rights for a British citizen, extremely hostile handling and yet put in the care of just one young detective.

I looked away for a moment and missed the air crew’s bag swap, but DH told me. Amazing how lax the security is, that and the baggage handler disappearing, but no follow up. I didn’t think the vegan meal was sealed at all. No tinfoil or lid over the tray and yet they passed it across once it’d been served. As PP said, took quite a while for the penny to drop.

The recap says how suspicious it was that Nolan returned a day early and yet his four colleagues were on the same flight.

I’m intrigued though, so still in for now.

xSideshowAuntSallyx · 22/04/2024 07:33

I enjoyed it but I started picking holes in the airport and aeroplane scenes (the pilot didn't say V1 Rotate when he took off😂).

I also missed the bag swap, having visited an airport with work and seen how it all works from the staff side/cabin crew they have their own security checks just like travellers you can't get air side without going through the same checks the only difference is the amount of liquid cabin crew and pilots can take through. And you have to have certain passes to get to the aeroplanes not just the boarding gates.

Other than that I can't wait for the next episode.

the80sweregreat · 22/04/2024 07:38

I found the filming of it very grainy and RA is usually found doing Netflix dramas ( Harlan corben ones ) so surprised to see him on itv.
It was fast moving and wondering about the one man who was kidnapped as well.
Must be relevant
Obviously the general's daughter was killed by someone else and it'll be down to the cop and maybe her sister to suss it out!
Was wondering what would happen if either of them needed the loo on a 11.5 hour flight
She would have had to have taken the hand cuffs off surely ?
Dog on a plane seat as well ? What if he needed a poo??
Animals usually go in cages in the hold ?
It's going to be far fetched nonsense, but I'm in !
