On for 6w on Sunday at 9pm

This thread is tv paced !!!!

This brand-new six-part thriller, starring Jing Lusi and Richard Armitage, promises nerve-wracking plot twists, heart-stopping performances, and a compelling narrative that spans continents. Set to premiere on ITV1 and ITVX on the 21st of April, here's why Red Eye should be at the top of your must-watch list...

Red Eye kicks off with an adrenaline-fuelled opening that sets the tone for the rest of the series. Dr. Matthew Nolan (Richard Armitage), after a near-death experience in Beijing, finds himself entangled in a web of accusations upon his return to London.

Arrested for a murder he insists he didn't commit, Nolan's life spirals into chaos.

The plot thickens when DC Hana Li (Jing Lusi), tasked with escorting Nolan back to China, discovers a murder on their flight, unraveling a series of events that suggest a deeper, more sinister plot at play.

One of Red Eye's most compelling features is its unpredictability. With a storyline that introduces twist after twist, viewers are kept on the edge of their seats, guessing what could possibly happen next.

Each episode peels back layers of intrigue, revealing geopolitical tensions and sinister forces that suggest no one can be trusted.

The series boasts an array of famous faces, delivering strong performances that bring depth and complexity to their roles.

Jing Lusi's portrayal of DC Hana Li is both compelling and nuanced, presenting a character whose determination and grit are matched only by the mysteries she faces.

Richard Armitage's Dr. Matthew Nolan is equally captivating, offering a glimpse into the psyche of a man fighting to clear his name while navigating a labyrinth of lies and deception.

Red Eye is both pacy and frenetic, mirroring the urgency and danger that the characters face, and this rapid tempo ensures that there's never a dull moment, with each episode drawing the viewer deeper into the unfolding conspiracy.

Helping to further bolster the series are its high production values and striking visuals – the international setting of the series, spanning from the bustling streets of Beijing to the imposing presence of London's Heathrow Airport, provides a rich backdrop for the narrative.

I think in other programmes they seem to break the tooth on their mouth somehow to recess the cyanide.
Does this sort of thing happen for real in spy circles?

Blondeshavemorefun · 20/05/2024 12:19

So if she hasn't smashes his mouth with gun then he wouldn't be dead

Hence why he said you killed me

Yes that’s what I thought.

Me me Me. I said about the SIM card in his wound

He doesn't seem to be the worse for wear after Hana was groping his insides , he must be a walking medical miracle 😀

duc748 · 22/05/2024 14:07

I was surprised she didn't offer him something to bite on! 😄

OMGitsnotgood · 24/05/2024 09:28

Don't want to read the full thread in case of spoilers. I liked the look of this but DH says it hadn't had great reviews. we've other stuff to watch so if Incan't persuade him, I'll watch it on my own.
What is the consensus so far? (Please tag me in any responses so I can see them without seeing spoilers, thank you)

Georgieporgie29 · 24/05/2024 09:35

@OMGitsnotgood im actually really enjoying it. Not sure I completely know what’s going on 🤣 but enjoying it all the same.

martinisforeveryone · 24/05/2024 10:55

@OMGitsnotgood the thread has spoilers because each episode has been discussed as it aired. I'm not participating properly at the moment because I went ahead and watched to the end of the series.

It's a mystery thriller involving ordinary people, police, government agencies and a foreign power, mostly on a long haul flight.

The reason I didn't stick to TV pace is that I wanted to find out the resolution of the storyline, but the gaping plot holes and factual inaccuracies tried my patience too much. In other series I've been able to look beyond those and just go with the flow.

It very much depends on what floats your boat. Plenty of people are enjoying it despite acknowledging some of the more stupid plot devices. I wouldn't embark on it again (no pun intended) but I was so far in I didn't want to completely abandon it, I wanted to get it over and done with. I'm contrasting that with Blue Lights which was also available to binge watch, but I restrained myself so I could enjoy it unfolding over the weeks.

Don't know if that point of view helps any?

daffodilandtulip · 24/05/2024 14:02

I don't care about the plot holes, except who on earth would put their hand inside someone's wound and manage to find a teeny SIM card. Hmm.

Glad Lesley is a goodie.

purpleme12 · 24/05/2024 14:05

I am not one to care about plot holes either @daffodilandtulip!

daffodilandtulip · 24/05/2024 14:08

It's a drama ... this things don't really happen. Real life is sitting on the sofa scrolling your phone and watching tv. A drama about that would be boring 🤷🏼‍♀️

martinisforeveryone · 24/05/2024 14:14

@OMGitsnotgood
don’t scroll back if you want to avoid a massive spoiler seeing as you haven’t watched yet.

OMGitsnotgood · 24/05/2024 14:16

Thank you @martinisforeveryone , I won't

I’ve been liking this final episode

duc748 · 26/05/2024 21:59

Half-way through, great fun so far!

Piggywaspushed · 26/05/2024 22:07

The blue colour palette really irritated me tonight. It was EVERYWHERE!

duc748 · 26/05/2024 22:28

I think it's fair to say that after a shaky start, this got better and better. Nice finale, too.

Redshoeblueshoe · 26/05/2024 22:41

Really enjoyed tonight's episode, apart from when I had to apologise to my DH, he said early on that the air marshal was CIA, and I said that was a load of bollocks. Well ok he wasn't strictly CIA - but that's how he got paid.

feelingalittlehorse · 26/05/2024 23:05

Ok, I’m blind. Can someone tell me what was on the mum’s file?

duc748 · 26/05/2024 23:42

Oh, I paused that. It was a confession that she'd been an anti-Communist agitator, but she didn't regret what she'd done, and she stood by it, because of what Communism was doing to her country.

feelingalittlehorse · 26/05/2024 23:52

If they need us to read important information, can they not put it in a bigger font 🤣🤣

purpleme12 · 27/05/2024 00:41

I was going to ask about the mum as well

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/05/2024 10:54

Just seen. Lounging by the pool 😂

Good old itv x

That was good

Naughty Mike. Def no Paris for them

Not sure what is wrong with maddys hubby but he seemed to know about her affair with Mike and not bothered

But seems she does love him

Was a good ending and in all a good plot
