Couldn't see a new thread.

I have no idea who they are apart from the fella from League of Gentleman.

What do the others do?

OP posts:

I remember the royalties thing from the "silent disco" task in the series with Jenny Eclair (I think).

OiGetOff · 24/05/2024 19:20

Greg most definitely has a soft spot for Nick, and who can blame him! I was certainly aware of him pre-TM but couldn’t say he’d made much of an impression. Now, I want to adopt him.

Conversely, what on earth has Greg got against Sophie?? She’s fabulous, naturally funny and really throwing herself into it - yet Greg seems quite negative towards her. Some things lost in the edit maybe, but seems that injustices are occurring.

Still finding John too serious, and rather boring. Freddie was good, but predictable.

I don't think they let them sing (John and Sophie) as it costs them a lot of money (found that out from The Rest is Entertainment podcast!)

Nick's Assistant Day song was so sweet

One of my favourite podcasts. When I grow up, I want to be Marina Hyde.

SoupDragon · 24/05/2024 20:00

I don't think Greg is being unfairly negative to Sophie. He's also very negative towards Nick despite any soft spot. To be fair, she's doing a very good job of appearing clueless in many of the tasks!

I like John. You need someone more serious in this to balance out the Joannes and Sophies in the cast. If everyone was completely nuts and loud it wouldn't work.

I like them all in this series. They are a great mix I think.

IPartridge · 24/05/2024 22:13

We'll find out who's in the next series, next week 😁

PickAChew · 24/05/2024 22:23

I'm hoping it's not including one of the rumours that DH stumbled across. It'll be unwatchable.

I think DS1 has a huge soft spot for John since he shared his farthing collection.

I don't think Greg is a fan of Steve either. Saying that he always has his favourites and he doesn't hide it. Sophie has been the highlight for me.

Ooh dear I'm concerned who the rumoured person could be. I'd like to see
Diane Morgan
Jamie demetriou
French or Saunders

IPartridge · 24/05/2024 22:43

Jim Moir would be good too.

Are they worse than Frankie Boyle?

PickAChew · 24/05/2024 23:50

Frankie turned out to be an entertaining watch. Not so sure about this one.

murasaki · 24/05/2024 23:54

Frankie was actually likeable in it, I thought.

I really don't like John Robins, he has very little sense of humour to me.

Worst line up would be Jimmy Carr, Jason Manford, Mickey Flanagan, Rosie Jones and Jayde Adams

Would love to see although not necessarily together, Sindhu Vee, Chris McAusland, Maisie Adams, Reginald D Hunter, Richard Ayoade

murasaki · 24/05/2024 23:56

I'd really like to see Jim Jefferies and Ànthony Jeselnik try to play the game but accept that would never happen....

Would love all of your choices too.

Obviously you can't say who, but did you think it was a good group?

Andylion · 25/05/2024 00:10

timetorefresh · 05/04/2024 23:06

Every time I see Nick I just think of Mr Swallow's Jurassic Park song. Def worth a Google :)

I just googled that! thank you!

murasaki · 25/05/2024 00:10

Also, i do love your username, it gives me an earworm every time i see it.

The watermelon task was fabulous. Lots to remember, pointless microphone speaking, and secret tasks hidden amongst it. Perfect.

I also found it fascinating that none of them though "oh, I was given a secret task, so the others might have too"

Steve lying down, still talking into his mic, like a lounge singer, was hilarious.

Yes. I knew 3 out of the 5. One of the ones I didn't know was really good on the day and I'm interested to see how s/he is in the rest of the series. I want to say more and of course don't want to give any spoilers, but I do think it will be a good series. Probably better than this one, they were more interactive with each other.

I think you’re right there about Steve. Maybe he went for a part in Inside No 9, and didn’t get it 😬.

OiGetOff · 25/05/2024 07:38

I also know who the S18 contestants are.

There are two I’m really looking forward to, but one whose presence normally means I ain’t watching. I’ve tried, but nah.

But I’ll give it a go and hope I’m proved wrong.

ViscountessMelbourne · 25/05/2024 09:00

I've not been on this thread, just found it, so letting you know belatedly that when I went looking for Steve's crossword I found
a) the crossword, which was on a Wednesday which is why we hadn't seen it (we only do the Saturday one)
b) an old crossword blog site where the guy said "there's a hidden message [a "Nina"] in today's Guardian crossword but I have no clue what it means"
c) an old Inside Number Nine Reddit group where someone found the crossword site, knew that the setter Sphinx was Steve Pemberton from when he set the crossword that was part of The Riddle of the Sphinx, and worked out that therefore he must be in the new series of Taskmaster.

It's amazing what the combined brains of the internet can achieve.
