How do they not know what Jersey Royala are? They could have got them in Sainsbury's

Apart from Tre and Flo, they are all pretty bad.

Amina deserved to go imo as did Jack (who was clearly stunned that he was fired).

Noor made me laugh when she said something like 'we won because I kept them all under control'. I wonder what her business plan is? I would not like to work with her.

One of the guys has beautiful teeth - not Paul, Jack, Tre - another whose name I can't remember.

Sumthingsweet · 22/02/2024 23:54

Lord sugars jokes were not that funny

clary · 23/02/2024 00:12

OK re the Pauls and Pies - me and DD had this convo tonight and got a bit confused.

There were two Pauls. And two pie men. One pie man was called Paul. He was the middle of the Venn diagram. We have punched him out (he was the wiggy "beans wi ma toast").

So now we have Paul. Not a pie man (but a piehole man lol). And Phil. A pie man.

Phil was carrying Amina. Paul got an oyster deal. DD got it all round her neck.

Good episode.

Ilovetea33 · 23/02/2024 00:48

I couldn't believe there were so many people who didn't know what "shucked oysters" meant and kept calling them "shackled".

Ahhh. Phil is the only good looking one for me

Thanks for new thread.

I can’t help think that if ever I went on the show I would watch and study previous tasks such as this one
On this task , identify the items , read a map , make a plan , hit the road whilst getting on the phone , keeping an eye on the time

RonSwansonsChair · 23/02/2024 06:31

Loving the new thread title @ArticSaviour - thanks!!!

Marcipex · 23/02/2024 06:46

No idea what 16 mm might look like!
Talking about shackled oysters.
Not even thinking that as they are in Jersey, that unfamiliar word might possibly be French.

They all seem so dim. Again.

RonSwansonsChair · 23/02/2024 06:46

I didn't mind this episode, but I didn't like the whole "set up" bit whereby each team (coincidentally 🤔) had one item that they had to help make in order to get a deal. Too contrived for my liking.

Marcipex · 23/02/2024 06:47

@RonSwansonsChair I agree.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 23/02/2024 06:59

as usual the teams spent far too much time and energy haggling over 50p and didn’t focus on making sure they get all the (right) products.

TheMcRibIsBack · 23/02/2024 07:21

I can't believe how many items the one team missed in the market. And the Jersey with an anchor, surely one of them could have run round the nearest charity shops just incase.
It was harder with the surfboard this year I thought as the spec was explained. one year they needed to get a boat, one team got an actual sailing boat and one got a toy boat! Both counted 😂

I thought the whole thing seemed set up this year - as if the vendors were following very precise instructions for the haggling (knock off up to 5% for showing an interest in the product, 5% for schmoozing etc.). In past years at least some of the vendors have seemed genuine.

Making the items themselves was completely contrived.

I don't think Supream were the worst team ever at the task - they missed one item, got one wrong and were back late. There have been past teams that only got about half the items and some ludicrous mistakes, like the team that didn't know what a kosher chicken was and came back with a halal one.

This task is part of the competition every year but they are clueless. Don’t the watch previous episodes?

They arent all clueless really are they. I think we all know the tasks are completly set up for them to fail, by lots of off screen stuff.

Then to try emphasise their uselessness, you have Sugar critiquing the task and frequently with contradicting criticisms. (Such as (all paraphrased) "how ridiculous asking for 75% discount. No business owner will accept that it's insulting. Most should be 35%" then the next task he says "why on earth didn't you go high at first, like 70%, when you asked for a discount? Staring at 30% is ridiculous!"

I mean whilst there's a bit of idiocy in some the candidates - is mostly bolshy and arrogant behaviour that causes most daft behaviours. I reckon a lot of that behaviour is amplified by the time pressure.

Things like unseen Karren could be rushing them out the market, really pushing them on when going past the jersey with an anchor on it.

Also it's the ones doing it wrong that get edited in with more screen time.

In a nutshell, we are watching young people full of selfbelief they are very able, on a hiding to nothing. Which is entertaining, I won't deny 😃. Would we like it as much if year on year they did tasks brilliantly with no apparent daftness from anyone?

Actually maybe they do need clulessness to go on The Apprentice and think it'll somehow be different for them!! That must be an overriding belief that they will be different!!

AnImaginaryCat · 23/02/2024 07:45

Have to say I can't get on board with the criticism on this thread of then not knowing what a shucked oyster was.

Mostly because I didn't know 😄. I mean I did take a guess that it mean prepared or opened and washed. But I was lacking in that oyster knowledge at the start of the episode!

PoppyAndParsnip · 23/02/2024 07:52

This was my least favourite episode so far, I agree with the pp who said it seemed like some of the retailers were briefed and less natural. But likewise, I find the haggling really rude after a certain point and if I were selling I would have walked away from the deal when they became disrespectful.

Amina did deserve to go, I think Jack was a bit full of himself but I agree Maura is useless. Noor is also annoying me, she’s so negative about everyone and everything it’s no wonder no one listens to her.

And,at one point, ‘shuckled’ 😀

Clafoutie · 23/02/2024 08:42

And,at one point, ‘shuckled’ 😀

Wasn't it just one of the who kept saying "shackled"? The other corrected her. Can actually recall who.

Did catch the shuckled though. wasn't sure if he meant it was a joke as he was smiling when he said it.

ClemFandangoCanYouHearMe · 23/02/2024 09:38

I'm still baffled by the fact that so many of them didn't seem to know what a "jersey" is??

And agree it seems so set up this year -especially the DIY bits. I've been to glass blowing outfits before and the health and safety precautions are stringent! No way would that just let some random "have a blow".

And that apple/cider/brandy selling woman had been fully briefed

newnamethanks · 23/02/2024 10:23

You may not know what a shucked oyster is. But when you're buying them, from the expert oyster seller, you'd ask, surely, are these shucked oysters?

Sumthingsweet · 23/02/2024 10:25

agree v set up - Amina came to your Fired in 80s dressing gown lol awful

lemonsaretheonlyfruit · 23/02/2024 10:39

I think they are all probably all completely set up - I think the sellers are all fully briefed in advance and told to discount accordingly on who builds up the best rapport/ has the better negotiation skills.

Goatymum · 23/02/2024 12:36

This series is so tedious. Dh likes it or i’d not watch anymore, it’s such contrived BS.
