and someone who was in the first ever episode is back

Just had a thought in response to a post above - Sanjeev Bhaskar was excellent in Unforgotten, and is very good at comedy too. He'd be great in DiP.

Yes he'd be a good choice, as long as they don't give him any silly quirks as seems to have been the case with most of the others.

They did get rid of Neville’s allergies fairly quickly though.

I really like Sanjeev, but it has always been a bit of a ‘rubbish acting expected’ show. I think him as the lead would change the vibe. He’s too good.

Ben Miller was on tv this morning and he said that Miranda Hart would be a great new inspector!

Her family aren't even from Saint Marie!

After her fiancé was shot, we all said how bizarre it was that none of her family were over for the wedding, and then she left to spend time with them on Guadeloupe or wherever they actually live.

Thankfully as I was on the point of turning off permanently- which I will definitely be doing if Miranda Hart plays any part in it 😫

I thought she was very good in Call the Midwife though.

Richard Ayoade would fit the mould, quirky and male, and still fairly young.

I hated the way the others were all interfering especially the young female detective

Catherine is hated in our house, mostly for her meddling. My slightly more twisted wish is that she is the first victim of the next series.

I'd hate working in St Marie, all the nosiness and meddling. I dislike Miranda Hart. Quirky just means irritating. I think the series is dying anyway, an annoying main character to keep the DIE dept happy will kill it, maybe that's the aim. Beyond death in paradise is cheaper to shoot and they won't get accused of being white saviours.

We have a "Catherine's right arm watch".

She usually has something on her upper right arm, and I thought it was maybe the actress's preference to cover a scar or something. But this series she's had a thinner wire thing a few times, and then nothing at all in one scene last night.

The "thing" she had wound around her arm in the final episode was monstrous. I take it it was some sort of jewellery but it looked like a snake crawling up her arm,

A fashion icon she ain't. I agree with a PP about her silly flirtatious way of speaking as if everything she says has some sort of double meaning wink wink
