and someone who was in the first ever episode is back

sure was on a Friday night last series so wonder why now prime time on Sunday for bbc but who cares

I did wonder about the witness protection no longer needed. Surely the baddies are still all out there.

Neville has had some longer running storylines so DiP has missed a trick and could have continued the story, with the baddies being killed, and hence Florence’s ‘release’.

Maybe he doesn’t get on the plane because he hears she’s in danger…

(DinP should get us to write the storylines!)

He was so adamant he needed to leave to find love what would be the point of him staying just to be friends.

Synopsis for episode 8 says a passenger boards a plane then ends up back in St Marie murdered. Assume this is Neville’s flight? My guess is he comes back to solve the murder and then he and Florence leave to travel together …… whether one or both of them return possibly left open until series 14.

I agree. I know it’s not exactly a masterclass, but she is particularly poor. Especially in comparison to Camille, for example.

If Florence is the new main detective, I’m out.

Camille is an excellent character and actress. I’d love for her to come back- even her small cameo earlier in the series was excellent.

What if it's Neville who gets murdered and the last episode is them solving his murder?

That would be the 3rd DI murdered - if you count the guy in the very first episode. Seems far fetched but I suppose this is DiP!
I hope not though, as cheesy as it is I’d like to see a happy ending for Neville.

I'm sure I read that the actress who played Florence didn't think the format should be changed by having a woman as DI or having someone who's not from the UK, so hopefully it won't be Florence taking over.

I haven't enjoyed the last few episodes as much as usual. I miss the JP and Marlon team and the story lines have seemed even more daft than usual.

I agree the story lines have been pretty silly of late. I am starting to wonder if it's completely run it's course, and might even have stopped watching before now but DH totally loves this show!

I think this. They should wrap it up with Neville and Florence walking along the beach at sunset knowing they will go on to solve many murders together.

I’ve really not enjoyed this series. Either he, or the series, have run its course for me. I think the only way to save it is to bring Humphrey back, or maybe even the Irish guy.

I think I’ve preferred this series too be a couple of series back. I’ve liked the plot lines better and the team have gelled. And then they go and change it…

We should take a vote on who thinks Neville and Florence will sail off into the sunset together or who thinks he's destined to be sad and lonely

Is this RL's last run then as DI? I wonder if his partner has banned him from staying there any longer as he keeps taking stray dogs home (could I love him any more!).

If RL is leaving then I think that Florence might be going on his trip with him!

For me, it’s the clash of the two cultures that’s so enjoyable - makes it unique. If Florence takes over as the lead, that will be a very different show entirely.

All the inspectors have been different in character, but they’ve all had to learn about the Caribbean and I’ve really enjoyed seeing that evolution each time.

Also all the inspectors have been male, I wonder if there's scope for a female DI to go in and ruffle Selwyn's feathers!

Ah well, another series gone, and it looks very much as if there will be a new DI next series. Any ideas? Daniel Craig may be at a loose end now he's not doing any more Bonds.

Nope. Bad ending. I don't believe for one second Florence would touch Nev with a barge pole.
Zero chemistry. Thank god they didn't kiss it would've been painful to watch.

I've not enjoyed this series as much. Losing Marlon was daft. He was just coming into his own and Darlene seemed to have a personality transplant once she got the job. Lost her sass.

Humphrey won't be back due to beyond paradise.

Now to find another pasty white, middle aged, awkward British man for the job...

They could swap in the young lad from Beyond Paradise, or would that be too meta?
