Now fully at Live TV pace.

Will it be a traitor in the kitchen with a poisoned chalice?

Thanks for the new thread. I was going to suggest the Danny Kaye classic:

'The pellet with the poison's in the vessel with the pestle. The chalice from the palace has the brew that is true' 😄

I sat reciting that on Friday. The clueless buggers.

I’m sure I read somewhere that it was going to be on the BBC at some point. Could be misremembering though,

last year it came to iPlayer after it had finished in the US - so I assume it'll do the same this time. I really enjoyed it last year. I far prefer Claudia as host, but Alan Cumming was great too - and brought a different angle to it, being more "sinister"

Just checking in. I love Jaz - he deserves to win, but maybe it's best for him to bide his time and try and slip under the radar a bit. Unless of course the bungled murder in plain sight puts any of the traitors in the spotlight. Most likely would be Miles. V clever of Paul to stay out of the room when it was happening.

I love him too, and hadn't even noticed he existed until a couple of episodes ago!

Twonewcats · 14/01/2024 10:32

I wish the episodes were eg 45 mins each, every weeknight. Well, I wish they were 60 mins every weeknight, but clearly theres a reason for them not doing this?)

Interesting theory...

I LOVE the theory but the challenge specifically said "you have to murder in plain sight" - so if it was a recruitment/conversion instead, that's a pretty MASSIVE twist on the traitors... especially since Diane asked Claudia not to be one in episode 1...

I doubt they'd screw all the players over quite that much, honestly.

Stowickthevast · 14/01/2024 11:14

Agree @WoolyMammoth55 it wouldn't be fair to the traitors to have someone you thought you'd be murdering become a recruit. You would choose different people to murder or recruit.

Anisette · 14/01/2024 11:24

I'm amazed the faithful (apart from Jaz) haven't clocked that they were given a huge clue with the dungeon episode. One or two have pointed out that it was odd that the traitors murdered Meg when there was usefully under strong suspicion and was going to be voted out anyway, but none of them really seem to have followed through on that. Given that they've generally been so far off the mark so far with their votes, they really need to apply their minds to that.

I don't think Paul is as clever as everyone makes out. The dungeon strategy didn't work, and then telling Jaz that Harry had told him what was said effectively points the finger at both of them.

WoolyMammoth55 · 14/01/2024 11:33

Hmmph · 14/01/2024 09:43

Wikipedia has a great table showing who voted for who at each round table. I thought it was quite interesting so thought I'd share:
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Traitors_(British_series_2)

THIS IS AMAZING! Thanks for sharing!

So: newfound respect for Andrew and Evie (and Tracey I guess) who all voted consistently for Ash until she got banished - pretty good instincts guys and way to buck the groupthink!! None of them come across as clever 😅but they clearly are! (Except that they then all voted for poor Jonny who I shall never cease to mourn).

Mostly it just really highlights that NO traitor names are on those boards - except for the few people who've said Paul - Harry and Miles are doing REALLY well... Let's see if the chalice challenge

Jaz is the only surviving player who's ever voted for a Traitor, Paul. I do like him and I think he's both very astute in identifying Paul AND also smart enough to hide his ambush until he has numbers... Plus has the advantage of most likely suspecting Harry now too (due to Paul's evil strategy/ blunder, depending on how you read it).

Can he possibly get to the end since it's clear he knows WAY too much?! If I were a Traitor I'd murder him as soon as the heat was off Paul...

JaneJeffer · 14/01/2024 11:44

I think Anthony said they were suspicious of Paul but for some reason nobody wants to go against him.

FruitBowlCrazy · 14/01/2024 12:11

If I was in there, I think I'd now be wondering what I'd do if I were a traitor, and that the best way to hide in plain sight is to be likeable, and to make people trust you. I'd then look around and home in on the ones who seem to be doing just that. The ones who everybody likes and 100% trusts. The ones who people say 'it can't possibly be x'.

On the other hand, maybe if I didn't trust someone as far as I could throw them, I probably wouldn't say so, in which case other people probably won't either!

MadeOfAllWork · 14/01/2024 12:58

I would like to point out that DH says The Traitors is rubbish and he hates this kind of program.
He also thinks that Jaz is the only one with any brains and doesn’t understand why so many people have been taken in by Paul…..

Turkeyhen · 14/01/2024 13:09

surely Jaz is in severe danger of being murdered now after that one on one with Paul. I still can’t get over Paul saying “I want you to think I’m a faithful”!

it's also now v clear why she didnt want to be one - Ross :)

catsareheroes · 14/01/2024 13:11

I have watched a few versions of The Traitors now and I think the odds are just too much in The Traitors favour.

  1. They are in the know, they know who are the traitors and who the faithfuls are so they are more able to manipulate situations to their advantage.
  1. They don't have the threat of being murdered.
  1. When a traitor is banished they often then recruit, which often happens quite late in the game too. This tilts the numbers against the faithfuls being able to win as a team.
  1. A traitor can walk away with the whole pot of they win, the faithfuls would have to split it as there will always be more than one faithful left at the end if their side won.

To make it fairer I think there should be more recruits after the halfway point.

MadeOfAllWork · 14/01/2024 13:13

I do think Paul was quite threatening in that chat with Jaz. Paul might not see it that way, or even meant it that way but it’s how it came across.

WhereDidTheYearsGo · 14/01/2024 13:17

I think the traitors should have just asked who wanted a drink and just given the chalice to whoever took it. They want them all gone in the end and it would have been less suspicious

I think the mission said that they had to agree on who it was and get them to drink.

Bargello · 14/01/2024 13:31

I think the Beeb do have rights to the US one. I read some speculation that it'll be on iPlayer after the UK one has finished.

That's what they did last year. Although it's a bit weird to watch as all the missions are exactly the same.

Agree completely.
I wonder how it'd work if the Traitors didn't know who the other traitors were. I.e they're playing even more of a trust game with the other traitors, if that makes sense.

Theydontknowaboutus · 14/01/2024 14:06

I wonder if at some point, the faithful will wonder why the traitors don't kill Paul. Someone so popular and influential should surely be a target?

Also, it's a show where it definitely pays to not show how clever you are - as a faithful this is the best tactic I would have thought.

Last years Faithful finalists were definitely the dumbest ones! Anyone who seemed clever or who insinuated they had a theory got murdered sharpish...
