@Twonewcats I've got no personal experience on the show or on any reality TV, but I did work in film and TV for a while so I can take an educated guess at this.

The crew will be AT LEAST twice the number of Traitors, probably three times as many. Every room has lights and cameras in it. Some are likely static - the hallway one seems quite fixed up on the ceiling? There are PAs scurrying around fetching water and food and checking in with everyone.

There's most likely 2 identical 'diary room' sets, as a PP said - one at the castle and one at the hotel. I'm sure that they are all called there on a rota during their 'down time' to record how they're feeling - that's the only way it would work to avoid suspicion of a certain 3 people getting called in all the time!!

All the shots of them in the bedrooms: Andrew pumping iron, Diane doing squats, Charlotte bathing - were all most likely shot on the first day or so, probably before the traitors were picked - then they just cut them in for atmosphere when needed...

It was so weird to me that the Traitors congregated at the fire pit yesterday to plot but my hunch is that is where a camera crew had been set up - a crew member told Miles to get Paul and take him there, then when they were someone else on the crew told Harry to join them - it's got to be directed to that extent I reckon.

Thanks @WoolyMammoth55, that's so interesting 😊 😀

MadeOfAllWork · 13/01/2024 12:34

There are a lot of fixed camera on the walls. You can see them often. And when you think about the rooms they are generally shot from the same point. The breakfast room is one angle, the hallway is one angle etc. and they are wearing mics, you can see them tucked in their trousers. Thinking about some of the outside spaces as well, they are often the same point of view. I think if there were camera crews in their faces throughout all the down time they wouldn’t chat as openly as they do.

I think it is filmed mainly in a similar way to Big Brother.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 13/01/2024 12:44

I listened to a podcast this morning and they said Paul and Harry were the Tom and Greg (Succession) of the Traitors world. 😂

CrapBucket · 13/01/2024 13:16

Has anyone else noticed how easy Mollie and Andrew seem to be with each other? He either reminds her of her dad, or he is her dad! She kissed him on the cheek one breakfast, he patted her shoulder last night, there is a really sweet affection I think. He seems very paternal and she seems very fond.

thanks, yeah, that makes sense.
I had thought there was a camera moving with them in the library, but I wasn't paying full attention, so it was probably a few mounted ones following them around.

I still don't get why none of them actually paid attention to them being in the library

I loved your Unbrushed/Half-brushed/Insta-ready descriptions @WriterOfWrongs & understand exactly what you were saying & completely agree!
The only way I can distinguish between Charlie and Evie is when both are in screen 😁

Edited

Thank you! And yes at times I can’t tell Charlie & Evie apart unless they’re in the same room together.

MadeOfAllWork · 13/01/2024 14:57

Evie owns a hairbrush. Charlie is rocking the windswept and interesting look.

kc431 · 13/01/2024 14:58

I reckon the diary room with the chalice task must have been filmed much earlier. There’s no way the 3 of them could have snuck off to film that during the drinks without it being noticed - unless everyone got called into the diary room one by one, then it wouldn’t stand out?

But Evie doesn’t use her hairbrush as much as Mollie uses hers Wink

Yes, I noticed that as well.

WriterOfWrongs · 13/01/2024 15:50

Oh that’s awful @Changeychang and I agree, he did come across as odious. I took against him completely when he was so nasty to lovely Aaron.

MajesticWhine · 13/01/2024 17:28

Twonewcats · 13/01/2024 09:46

Uncloaked is fantastic - I LOVE seeing them find out who the Traitors are.
Anthony was lovely on it - again, I think a lot of his nippyness/snapping was editing to make it seem like he was always like that, but actually he seemed lovely - and very, very handsome

Yes exactly. Just catching up and Anthony was delightful on Uncloaked, whereas he was so tetchy in the actual episodes.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 13/01/2024 17:40

@MajesticWhine @Twonewcats I thought the same about Anthony. Charming and charismatic on Uncloaked. He seemed so different when playing the game

Accurate!

Anyone else getting Traitor withdrawal symptoms tonight?

IGotItFromAgnes · 13/01/2024 18:06

Yes! Although I have been saving Uncloaked to watch over the weekend

Changeychang · 13/01/2024 15:44

Apologies for the Sun link but has anyone seen this, I'm not at all surprised, he came across as an odious man in Series 1:
https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/25345231/traitors-john-mcmanus-nasty-nick-restaurant-attack-video/

Was he the massaging person from last year?

Choux · 13/01/2024 18:07

I still don't get why none of them actually paid attention to them being in the library.

I think it is due to all the crew requests. We assume they can wander at will during drinks and free time but perhaps they are subdivided into groups often and told to... eat their roast on their laps and chat or go out and have a chat about murder round the fire pit. The others are probably engaged with crew having a chat filmed and being taken in and out of the diary room for pieces to camera so don't think anything of people coming and going.

Am sure the production crew are clever and know shots they might want so plan them. There was no actual evidence that when Zack went to the door and looked out, that was during the fire pit chat. He could have just been told to do that by production and he doesn't know why. Similarly when people walked past the library door which was ajar we don't know if the traitors were in there or if the library walk pasts were done after the chalice had been handed to Diane and just before bed. The production could be doing a lot of sleight of hand with the editing.

beachlover24 · 13/01/2024 18:13

I am still catching up but have such a crush on Jonny

ah, yeah, yeah, that makes sense, thanks - even if it was happening as it seemed, then there's no reason to actually be suspicious of people being in the library, and there wouldnt be a reason to investigate if it was during some sort of downtime or whatever.
I'd considered the order/timeline of filming but hadnt really considered how much faffing and lighting/sound tests etc could be going on at any given time

I noticed the shoulder pat 🧐
