I thought he was mean describing her as a 'flapping fish'. Sam isn't going to be Miss POpular in the house - last week DVO suggested Rachel take tips from her!

Rachel's Cabaret reminded me a bit of Ruthie Henshall in Chicago - there was a darker side in there!

glinda · 24/05/2008 20:35

Rachel is the only true Triple threat performer. She acts the others off the stage.

beansprout · 24/05/2008 21:05

Gawd, I've met Ruthie Henshall and she is as mad as a box of frogs!!

I thought the duets were fab. Sam did just look great next to Jodie but it's so boring to watch skinny girls all the time. I would really love to see Jodie win!

tortoiseSHELL · 24/05/2008 21:06

lol beansprout - my MIL said 'she really liked Jodie, but she just looked too 'well fed' to be realistic as Nancy, who was living in poverty on the streets of London.' made me laugh!

beansprout · 24/05/2008 21:09

I reckon she would shift some of that weight in the 6 months they have until it opens.

What do we think of the Olivers then?

glinda · 24/05/2008 21:13

They kept it very quiet that Harry had worked for CM before in the WE. (Michael Banks in Mary Poppins)

tortoiseSHELL · 24/05/2008 21:15

It's interesting, the different perceptions of Nancy I think. In the book she is very much a 'girl' - I think she is 17 - and she is more of a sister to the boys than a 'mother' - it's not a 'Julie Andrews' type role.

I liked the Olivers - love Gwion - he is so cute! Reminds me a little bit of ds1 (who is so sad that he was too young to audition for Oliver - he is going round the house warbling Food Glorious Food atm.)

beansprout · 24/05/2008 21:16

I like Gwoin too, he's a real poppet!

beansprout · 24/05/2008 21:18

Nancy has been around the block though and that needs to be there for the chosen person to be convincing.

For me, the acid test is "do I feel physically sick when BH has a lech at them?" and with Sam, I do, as she is just too young!!!

Collision · 24/05/2008 21:19

OOh, according to Digital Spy, Sam and Ben (from Joseph - they sang together last week) have started dating.

do not look at digital spy unless you want to know who leaves I'd do Anything!!

glinda · 24/05/2008 21:21

Afraid that BH makes me feel physically sick whenever I look at him - leching or not.

beansprout · 24/05/2008 21:24

Hmmm, there is that!!

tortoiseSHELL · 24/05/2008 21:25

Digital Spy is SO mean though - it really irritates me - they all pretend to be so knowledgeable about musical theatre, and yet you get one person saying 'the outstanding performance of the series' and the next saying 'terrible. Abysmal.' Think they should be honest and say 'this is the person I like, the performance actually is irrelevant to the comments I will make.'

MargaretMountford · 24/05/2008 21:42

not keen on Gwion - I liked Chester

anniebear · 24/05/2008 21:58

I think Rachel stands out a she has the whole package,

Like Jodie also

did used to like Jessie, but one eye seems more shut than the other and it annoys me lol

I also agree with Denise, that Jessie is very awkward. she doesnt move well

I remember her in the first few weeks, when she had to go from standing to sitting and she mroe or less showed her knicks as her legs where open!

Sam seems lovely, but to young

turquoise · 24/05/2008 23:06

I've just watched the bits I missed on Iplayer and think Rachel was great (slightly barmy glint in the eye but then she's so desperate, just like Connie).

Jessie just can't, will never ever, certainly not in just six months and probably not in six years, ACT!

Rachel for me, with Sam as runner up.

Jodie certainly looked like she was singing Food Glorious Food from the heart .

jamila169 · 24/05/2008 23:21

Jodie - got to love her!
Sam is probably going to win, rachel second and Jessie - Arrrrggh enough with the jazz hands already and attacking the songs like a pit bull.We were talking about jessie tonight - me-I think she dances like a hippo swims
A(teen refugee from next door) -hippos can't really swim
me- exactly

TeenyTinyTorya · 25/05/2008 00:23

Jessie was awful, really awkward and doing the same old moves. Sam is a good performer but too young and too smiley. Rachel was excellent in Cabaret, but there's just something that I don't like about her. Jodie is my winner - I love that song from Fame, and she made me cry. She does have a tendency to overact sometimes, but she can hold it back when she needs to.

Olivers - shame that some of the best ones are on the verge of their voices breaking. Don't like Laurence, Gwion is cute and Harry hasn't really registered so far. Jordan was by far the best, so expressive and animated.

tortoiseSHELL · 25/05/2008 13:53

Rachel has spooky eyes - they are a bit scary I think - wild and glassy!

ipanemagirl · 25/05/2008 14:25

Have just caught up with last night's performances...

Rachel - show stopping but agree with an earlier post, so demented looking that she looks a bit desperate.

Sam - what confidence, what self -assurance, no air of desperation. They have time to bring more acting out. I agree, she should probably win. Rachel is not quite it for me although she'd be a fine understudy.

Jessie, just hod carrying and wrong, too few expressions, too manly.

Jodie, just in the end 'matronly' sounds right. I'm sick of skinny girls too but I think so many of us have the real beauty of the movie's Nancy in our memories and the sexiness of Oliver Reed, I think Nancy should be sexy more like a sexy barmaid rather than Landlady!

MargaretMountford · 25/05/2008 14:27

yes, landlady sums Jodie up perfectly ipanema!

ipanemagirl · 25/05/2008 14:29

Nancy should be a bit of a stunner imo

NotABanana · 25/05/2008 14:44

I don't like Rachel as she seems arrogant.

I like Sam but she does seem to always have the same attitudy face on her.

I don't htink Jodie can move as well as she claimed.

Jessie seems more likeable and more willing to take direction.

3andnomore · 25/05/2008 14:55

I watched it last night and was very disappointed with their choices for Oliver....out of the ones that they had chosen to be in the final 10 I would have liked Chester, Jonny and Laurence...
The one I really liked wasn't even in the final 10 though....little Sam won my heart...I think they should make a new Version of the movie Little Lord Fauntleroy (sp?) and little Sam should be the Little Lord...he is adorable

As for which Nancy...I like all the girls that are left, so, no idea who I would really like to see....I think Jessie is my favourite if I had to pick one

MargaretMountford · 25/05/2008 15:21

yes, it's little Sam (Oliver)'s mouth that is very Lord Fauntleroy I think ! Agree with you -it should have been Chester ( who looks uncannily like my brother at about the same age) Jonny and Laurence...
