actually and the teeth

TeenyTinyTorya · 18/05/2008 22:28

Hey - what's grubby looking about Lee Mead? I thought he was rather nice myself. Now if you'd been talking about him I could understand your point...

ipanemagirl · 18/05/2008 22:35

lazarou! I was just thinking that Niamh is a girl Noel Fielding!!!!!!!!!
I love her, she had to go I guess but I don't like any of them now much except Sam is great.
Jessie is just a rictus face. And all that acting amazed when she went through tonight oh barf.
Rachel is so DULL.
Jodie is a gurner/overacting Heffer. The meatloaf line was needlessly cruel but totally true.
Sam is excellent, really could win it I think.
But the public may pull a fast one!

lazarou · 18/05/2008 22:50

TTT, I really do like Pete Doherty. He's got a great talent, even if he can't handle his drugs.

TeenyTinyTorya · 18/05/2008 22:56

I have to agree, Lazarou. He is a great musician, but also the first example that came to mind of a grubby looking man

Joash · 18/05/2008 22:56

yaaaahhhhhh - Niamh has gone!!!

Tippychick · 19/05/2008 09:43

Poor ol Niamh. That sing off really showed how much better her vocals were than Rachel's. But I guess she's just not right for the part.

I'm backing Sam now I think. Jessie is just too random and I can't get over the Elvis thing. Have you noticed that some cruel stylist always pins one side of her hair up, the side that she always does the lip curl on? It really draws attention to it, sabotage by stylist for her and Jodie perhaps

I'm starting to see what you guys all mean about John Barrowman, he's getting better looking as DvO looks older and more tired.

mumdebump · 19/05/2008 10:09

Glad Niamh has gone. She can only do one facial expression and showed no emotion at all in the sing-off. At least Rachel can act, even if she does seem a bit tired and not very exciting. Thought Sam's comment about Rachel not being Nancy showed her immaturity, just regurgitating panel's comments, no original thought.
Think Jessie will be next to go, then Rachel, but not sure who public will pick to win between Sam and Jodie.

I noticed the shorts (and not-shorts) too! But actually thought it was one of most flattering things Jodie has worn. Also agree with ALW and thought she was best in that number. I like the way she thanks the panel for their supportive comments (but not for the meatloaf one, which was harsh but fair IMO))

TillyScoutsmum · 19/05/2008 10:19

Niamh deserved to go but suspect there is a big future in the West End for her.

Rachel is cold, dull and boring and sooo jealous of Sam. There's clearly no love lost between those two (the others hugged Rachel when she was saved but Sam just hung around outside the "group hug")

I like Jodie and think she is the obvious, traditional Nancy. I think Sam is very talented and I would pay to see her but she just seems a bit too clean and shiny to be Nancy. She needs to be a bit rough around the edges. I hope she stays in until the end though because DP is happy to watch it with my whilst she's there

Tippychick · 19/05/2008 10:57

Yes, don't Sam and Rachel hate each other? Tis very funny.

RosaLuxembourg · 19/05/2008 11:10

So what is with Jessie's hair? Did you notice it was straight during the week? Had she straightened it or is it curled for Saturday nights?

MargaretMountford · 19/05/2008 11:12

straightened I think and looked nice !

katebee · 19/05/2008 11:14

I must be the only one who likes Rachel. I like her voice (think she was much better than Niamh in sing off) and she is a good actress.
However, she and Sam should try not too dislike each other so obviously..not doing themselves any favours.

I think Jessie should leave next. She sings beautifully but looks very nervous and I don't think she has shone with the acting challenges. I'm not sure if she would cope with the role.

Barry makes me cringe...Can't they get a better panel for these programmes?

also would be much better if they sang songs from the musicals rather than shouty pop songs.

Tippychick · 19/05/2008 11:25

Agree with katebee, Jessie's acting is uncomfortable to watch and WHY can't they sing show songs? Those weirdy half-talking Pink and Beyonce ones really aren't relevant, never mind all this "showing Nancyness" nonsense.

I am absurdly fond of ALW though, especially his inappropriate comments and hint of perviness. Very very amusing.

DumbledoresGirl · 19/05/2008 11:26

I also like Rachel though I think physically (and maybe character-wise?) Jodie is more of a Nancy.

Can I just say that I did notice Sam not hugging Rachel when she was saved, but she also did not hug Jessie when she got through.

katebee · 19/05/2008 11:31

Yes Tippychick - ALW is great - thank goodness he is the one deciding who to save!

Tippychick · 19/05/2008 11:50

Maybe they thought she'd snap, her waist is about the size of my thigh. Grrrrr to young gorgeous talented people!

Chickenmamma · 19/05/2008 14:54

I actually think the group hug when Rachel was saved was designed to exclude Sam. The older girls group which includes Jessie seem to have got a little bit annoyed at the praise Sams been getting

MargaretMountford · 19/05/2008 15:31

it was pretty obvious that she was standing apart from the group, wasn't it ?

LauraT · 19/05/2008 15:34

well, it's a competition I suppose and they seem to be encouraging them to bad mouth each other, it's bound to raise some unpleasantness! I, too, am fed up with Jessie, she can certainly sing, but seems devoid of acting talent which is pretty important for musical theatre. it's all very well ALW saying that Nancy could have been Irish, and choosing to have an Irish accent, but having to have one because she CAN'T do another one seems... unfortunate?

RosaLuxembourg · 19/05/2008 15:50

Yes, they are definitely fostering the badmouthing thing. I love Jessie, but she really needs to work at her acting skills. Still, she's done well for a girl who was turned down by drama school

Chickenmamma · 19/05/2008 16:31

Yes I agree they are fostering the jealousy and competitiveness. Denise Van Outen saying that Rachel needs to learn from Sam was particularly unconstructive and divisive

Shame really as the show doesn't need that

MargaretMountford · 19/05/2008 16:38

yes, that was a bit nasty

MummyPenguin · 19/05/2008 19:26

Jessie must not straighten her hair again - it looked awful. Her curly hair is lovely. I was sad to see Niamh go as she was my favourite, along with Jodie. So I'm backing Jodie all the way now. She's definitely best for Nancy. The public must see that when it's the final. I might even vote, I don't normally on these things, as you hear so much about it being a rip off.

To be honest, I don't really rate those Olivers, I don't think they're that good. Some of them look too old for the role of Oliver too. There are a couple, can't remember names, but a couple of the younger looking ones who I could see in the role. One in particular is quite babyfaced and has a sweet gap in his front teeth. A couple of them just don't look right for Oliver, like Chester and Harry. Oh and Kwayedza I suppose. I guess Oliver could have been black, but I always prefer these things when they're as close as possible to the original film.

theheadgirl · 19/05/2008 19:37

I like Sam. But think Jodie would make a good traditional Nancy - and she has been around longer to deserve the big break!
