Starting now - BBC1

OP posts:
Twinklemegan · 17/05/2008 22:19

Yes, I'm starting to find Jessie pretty wooden and repetitive. Her voice didn't even sound that good to me the last couple of weeks. That Judy Garland number she did was just stunning though - I guess that proves my earlier point.

ipanemagirl · 18/05/2008 00:29

Yes I thought Sam was the best by far tonight she just carries it off at the moment.

Rachel, awful song to choose and too bland somehow.

Niamh, increasingly looks not up to it, losing confidence and looks so young, looks amateur next to Sam in a way.

Jodie, just to much and a bit of a heffer when she moves, I agree with the lord I'm afraid, too much meatloaf. Rude of him but true.

Jessie, she's just wooden at the moment and lost the sparkle.
Looking like Sam.

I wonder if the whole process is just wiping them out and it's the pure youth/energy/confidence of Sam which is keeping her buoyant?

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2008 09:12

I agree IG - when Jodie moved it was like 'I'm moving' but such small amounts of movement - didn't really add to the song. When Sam moves it is completely part of the song - doesn't detract at all - it is completely natural!

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 09:41

I think the thing is that it's easy to watch Sam,the others distract with clunkiness, mannerisms etc...poor old Rachel is looking crosser and crosser being classsed as an 'older girl'

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2008 09:45

Rachel is cross, grumpy but SO boring! She was really pissed off at ALW calling her a 'safe' option. Didn't like that, oh no.

Jessie - she should be a singer, leave the acting alone I think, and DEFINITELY not dance!

Jodie - she is just too much I think - maybe her 'bubbliness' is ok for one number, but I don't think she could carry a whole show off.

Niamh - she is too young (I know Sam is older, but Niamh is more immature imo).

Sam - secure, as JB said, but not 'boring safe' as Rachel is - she is easy to watch, but also brings something to it - enthusiasm, great voice, dancing etc etc.

I really hope she wins, as I think she has worked REALLY hard! And that was a HARD song last night, but she did it so well.

DrNortherner · 18/05/2008 11:09

Rachel is talented but dull, Jessie should be on a building site as a hod carrier, Niamh is fab singer but not Nancy, Sam is probably standing out as the best all though I can't stop rooting fo Jodie - I love her and think she would make the best Nancy.

Why all this talk about Niamh being too young when Sam is the youngest?

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2008 12:31

it's more how young they appear I think - not that 'actual' age they are iyswim. I think Niamh has more developing to do vocally as well - Sams' voice is more mature.

noddyholder · 18/05/2008 12:43

I don't like any of them now jessie is like a big farmers wife niamh too young jodie too brash rachel professional but annoying sam too tarty

tortoiseSHELL · 18/05/2008 12:45

Don't you think Nancy could have been tarty?

ellceeell · 18/05/2008 13:20

I thought that they treated the boys very sympathetically. The four who didn't get chosen seemed to be given a really big part in this show to try to make up for it and were all encouraged that they had talent. My favourite was Jordan and he didn't get through.
I'm sure Nancy would have been tarty - but would she have wrinkled her nose as much as Sam does?

DrNortherner · 18/05/2008 13:22

Oh I bet Nancy was a right trollop. Of the girls left I canm see Sam or Jodie playing the part. None of the others imo.

noddyholder · 18/05/2008 13:28

trollopy yes tarty like one of atomic kitten no

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 14:22

ellceeell, yes agree that they handl;ed the Oliver selection thing very well. I think Nancy would be a bit rough but not in the loud gallumphing way of Jodie

Collision · 18/05/2008 14:50

I thought Ben (of Joseph) and Sam looked like a nice couple

and

Rachel and Daniel looked flirty as well!

I think Jodie had been out crying after ALW told her she was too Meatloaf!! She looked very subdued and her eyes were red.

theheadgirl · 18/05/2008 15:10

Ben and sam did look good together.....however don't you think that Rachel is prob not Daniels type. as in she's female?

Collision · 18/05/2008 15:11

DO NOT TELL ME DANIEL IS GAY!

theheadgirl · 18/05/2008 15:14

I know, a waste! but just a feeling I've got- more from the stuff they showed about him on joseph. I'll gladly try to turn him though, he's lovely

Collision · 18/05/2008 15:15

I am sure when he was on Joseph a girlfriend of his was mentioned.

theheadgirl · 18/05/2008 15:17

I'll be happy to stand corrected Collision, and will get in queue behind you

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 15:20

no Daniel can't be gay ??? he was my absolute favourite

theheadgirl · 18/05/2008 15:26

Didn't anyone feel though that his little films between songs included his brother, and sister, and his job for the cement company - but not IIRC any girlfriend....
And he's gorgeous. And works in musical theatre. And that your honour is the basis of my suspicion. Nothing more!

MargaretMountford · 18/05/2008 15:28

oh, in that case...

Zebedeedoodah · 18/05/2008 15:57

I read somewhere he swings both ways. Does that help? And Ben's dancing was amazing.

I'm at the stage now though, that it's more who I least mind winning, rather than who I'm rooting for. But it's between Jessie & Sam I reckon.

lazarou · 18/05/2008 16:00

I really liked that song that sam sang. I've never heard it before, but it's been in my head all day. Would love to see Wicked now. I hope either sam or jodie wins.

Chickenmamma · 18/05/2008 16:36

I thought Jodie's performance was very awkward and quite karaoke. She is not a good mover and the Meatloaf criticism was accurate if a bit too harsh

Jessie has a nice voice but lacks grace and acting skills

Rachel is dull and for a professional she hits a lot of bum notes

Niamh's vocal is a bit weak and tinny. She's a nice girl but not Nancy

Sam is probably the best out of a fairly underwhelming bunch. But she doesn't have me jumping out of my skin
