I had chicken feet in Thailand when I was travelling (aka going on holiday).
Chewy.
Bit like Marigold gloves dipped in Oxo.

Love chefs table.
This is a nightmare for finals week. Football tonight and work Christmas do tomorrow. Might have to stay up late so don't get spoilered before we watch!

@Sholkedabemus My best ever meal was also at The Gavroche. Am gutted they are closing as I wanted to go there for dinner for my 60th birthday (we went twice for lunch which was amazing). The food was classic, amazing ingredients, beautifully cooked and presented and not messed about with too much. And the cheese trolley was to die for 😍

So no theatre, unless you count immaculate service, a tastefully decorated dining room and a few nice words from Michel himself. I will watch this evening's show with interest but I'm not sure I'm their target audience!!!

We were there for dinner and I agree with everything you’ve said. We ordered the pork and they brought a joint of pork to our table and carved it. DH had the magnificent cheese board! Michel Roux was circulating in the dining room and stopped at every table for a chat. It made my night. We’ve also eaten at Tom Kerridge’s pub, Sat Bain’s and Nathan Outlaws but none of them were as good as Le Gavroche. We’re also gutted that he’s closing.

I do think Marcus gets more grumpy. Michel Roux seemed able to deliver constructive criticism very fairly and without any unpleasantness.

@Sholkedabemus So funny, we've been to those ones too. Nathan Outlaw's was my least favourite and I loved Sat Bains. That was a special occasion as it was my MIL's 80th birthday and we had a private dining lunch experience. The staff were amazing and all the chefs served their dishes personally, even Sat himself, and had a lovely chat with us. 😊

Just finished watching on catch up, while eating……..gazpacho!

now, it was out of a carton from sainsburys, rather than being hand roasted by my good self, but add in a chopped hard boiled egg and some diced cucumber and it was a very nice low carb lunch.
I love boiled egg with caviar also.

As a fellow Cornish person I think Charlie wuz robbed! Fish and egg is lovely, I would have scoffed all of that. But steered clear of Tommy's courgettes as I hate them. Also Tommy had not finished his dish properly whereas Charlie had. Must make a point of going to where Charlie works to try the food.

I would have eaten the Aussie dish out of curiosity. Was surprised to hear Marcus say he had never eaten kangaroo - I have, a few times. I really wanted to taste the damper bread. I liked the footage of Kasae trying to cook damper outside in the rain while a crew member held an umbrella over her!

I would have loved eating Tom's dessert. Cherries, almonds, marzipan, yum!

Looking forward to the wankery of The Alchemist. I think Tom is my favourite to win - he just seems to have that little bit extra and he's so modest. But wouldn't really mind if Kasae won.

My two best ever meals were

  1. At a restaurant in St. Peter Port, Guernsey called L'Escalier. Still think about the amazing soft poached meringue dessert, never had anything like it anywhere else. Sadly it's closed down so can never go back.
  1. At the Old Stamp House in Ambleside. Amazing food. Will definitely go back one day but apparently you have to book a table months in advance now - we went not long after it opened when it wasn't quite so sought after. Had Herdwick hogget with some sort of blue cheese thing and a chocolate delice with milk sorbet, it was lush!

I've caught up now. Right decision I thought.

I'm interested to see Tommy buzzing. We haven't seen much of it so far.

Is it 8pm again tonight?
