The Ex-Wife is a four-part series that begins on Channel 5 on Sunday 15 October at 9pm with each episode airing weekly at the same for the Autumn 2023 season. This drama was previously released on streaming service Paramount Plus on Wednesday October 12 2022. All3Media distributed internationally.

Tasha, played by Céline Buckens, appears to have everything, from her loving husband Jack (Sleepy Hollow’s Tom Mison) and their beautiful daughter Emily to their gorgeous home and seemingly perfect life.

The only problem is Jack’s ever-present ex-wife Jen, played by Janet Montgomery, calls him constantly and refuses to sever ties with his family.

But when it all comes crashing down, Tasha is left with no choice but to turn to Jen, the woman she despises, for help.

The Ex-Wife follows Tasha (Céline Buckens), who appears to lead the perfect life. The only fly in the ointment is her husband Jack’s ex-wife who is an ever-constant presence, speaking to Jack nightly and always turning up to family functions.

Then, one day Tasha returns home to find Jack (Tom Mison) and their daughter Emily missing and, at her wit’s end, she has no choice but to ask Jen (Janet Montgomery) for help. But the pair have never seen eye-to-eye, so can Tasha really trust Jack’s ex?

I saw this advertised a while back but as I don’t have paramount couldn’t see it

Looks good

Think there has been a s2 as well so hopefully that will come later

Seems set up for another series to me !

Hopefully!

With these mini-series the finale is always going to be a bit of a car-crash 😛but I quite liked the way they edited it; a lot of re-hashing of what we'd seen before, and then getting to the point of it quite quickly, and still leave time for a coda. Not that I believed a word, of course, but good stylish fun. I was entertained.

Omg. Just seen

I didn't guess she wasn't dead

Good to see the story from the other side and it was all jack and not ex wife

Tho not sure why Tasha would trust her to met her know Emily was actually alive

Or was it as she told her about Heathrow ......

There is obv going to be a s2

Was a very good drama

Well done ch 5

Hopefully s2 will happen

But if Jack thinks Emily is dead what can the plot be

I am still amazed she told ex wife Emily was alive

There were a few plot holes that didn't sit all that well, but overall it kept me gripped. Jen sure made her way to that overseas fishermans' wharf pretty easily and speedily.

My mind's still boggling at the thought of holding a funeral for Emily while having her secreted away somewhere, but I guess, knowing how dangerous Jack is, it was the best 'defence' if you want to call it that. Of course, now Tasha's revealed the truth to Jen, how long will it stay secret? With an ally like his sister, Hayley, Jack could be capable of anything and which side would 'The Ex Wife' support?

I also loved it that everyone is so loaded that an impromptu weekend in Budapest (staying at the finest hotel, natch) is no prob whatsoever. But Tasha will have to stand on her own feet financially in S2!

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/11/2023 14:05

I thought Jack cut her off without a penny so where has the money come from

One of those plot holes, or, presumably we're meant to think Sam's supporting Tasha and Emily? At least she hasn't got her student debt any more.

I thought that too 😂 Oh yeah I'll just pop to Budapest! Why is she in Budapest? How much does Sam earn as a cab driver? Why trust Jen? But wow wasn't his sister a bitch! And yes I really thought they did the unthinkable and killed off a baby!!

butterpuffed · 06/11/2023 15:52

A break in Budapest ! Where else ?! 😂

duc748 · 06/11/2023 16:06

To be far, Tasha probably has a fair old rap sheet waiting for her in Blighty. Let's see: driving with no insurance, dangerous driving, falsely recording a death, possible GBH or attempted murder...

This is true

I was stressed at the end when you couldn't see Emily till Sam appeared.

Yes, me too! I was virtually screaming at Tash to not let her wander off (did she learn nothing from abandoning her at soft play?!).

Surely it wasn't realistic that there would literally be no remains of a child's body in a burnt out car?

the80sweregreat · 07/11/2023 06:28

It was unusual to see how a man feels about not being a father as it's usually only from the woman's point of view ( we got both sides and I thought was good , even if Jack was a horrible baddie etc)

butterpuffed · 07/11/2023 08:11

Another hole was that there were quite a few people at the funeral so Tasha would have to move a long distance away [Budapest?!] as her friends/family would wonder who the child was as they think she died .

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2023 08:21

@Romeiswheretheheartis I'm guessing as heat was so hot due to tanker that body was like ash like a cremation

OP posts:
Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2023 08:21

I actually thought once Emily was dead that she was going to be preg from her hall shag

Ans would bring up the baby alone

OP posts:
martinisforeveryone · 07/11/2023 11:19

I thought it would turn out that Jen got pregnant from the 'make up' sex.

It was extremely irritating how Tasha kept setting Emily down or letting her wander. Of course we weren't too know that Sam was lurking in the other direction, but I just don't believe Tash wouldn't have been quite paranoid about keeping Emily right by her side.

Vaguely remember them saying the temperature of the fire, which equated to a crematorium or something. Didn't think about that too much as someone must've rescued Jack and Jen from the vehicle and they'd have seen the car seat, rabbit and discarded shoe. Again, doesn't pay to think too deeply.

duc748 · 07/11/2023 11:28

Surely there's also the small fact that Tasha, when taking Emily from the car, effectively left Jen in there to die. But by some miracle, Jen and Jack were pulled out by brave bystanders with seconds to spare. So if I was Jen, I'm not so sure I'd be quite so chummy.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2023 14:38

And no one saw tash run to the crashed car and remove a child and stuff her in a huge bag

OP posts:
duc748 · 07/11/2023 15:10

Yeah, odd, that, wasn't it? Like, for a few seconds, there was no-one else around, she had the area to herself...

Actually, now I think, despite what I just posted, was Jen actually in the car when the baby was taken? ISTR a shot of Jen standing there, watching Tasha from a distance. So maybe Jen had managed to get out of the car.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/11/2023 16:00

Yes both were in the car

Jen passed out

But he was awake and saw her

So he knows she is alive and will say prob in s2 that Emily didn't die in the car

Tell sister

Sister will tell jen who will crumble
And say yes she's alive

So really don't know why Tasha told jen Emily wasn't dead and saw her
