TV couples with zero chemistry

Wasntmeanttobelikethis · 06/10/2023 20:30

watching Emmerdale and wondering why they put Jai and Laurel together as a couple; zero chemistry. Thinking of other TV couples with no spark or connection:
Eastenders: Denise and Jack
Corrie: Dev and Billy’s mum
Dev’s son and new older girlfriend

Any couples that leave you cold?

Basil and sybil fawlty but maybe that was the point

Aw I think Monica and Chandler are great together, Rachel and Joey just awful!

Patrick Baladi from the office, I have seen in him a few other things and he literally has no chemistry with anyone, Mistresses is one that springs to mind and also I seem to remember him in something when he was having an affair with someone and they had zero chemistry. He's so wooden.

Monica and Chandler are quite convincing as a long-married couple, I'll give you that, but there was never a flicker of passion.

And in what universe are Phoebe and Rachel friends? Monica might be friends with each of them (and I realise she is how they know each other), but Rachel and Phoebe would never get on together.

Maybe that's what it was, they were very much a couple from early on in the relationship and I liked the dynamic between them but maybe there wasn't red hot passion lol!

This might be a bit obscure but Amber and Jay from The Tribe

Amber had awesome chemistry with Lex.

BasiliskStare · 13/10/2023 16:42

@ImMrsNesbitt Ha ha - I agree with you - I could not see a spark. I think they just looked mismatched and the dialogue didn't get over it for me , not an ounce of chemistry ( in my opinion - others are available ) . 😊

Wishimaywishimight · 13/10/2023 16:49

Penny and Leonard in Big Bang theory. They had a good friendship but I couldn't see the chemistry at all, especially not from Penny.

Emily and Ross in Friends

No way 😂I disagree with this. Mind you for some reason I think Ross had chemistry with all his girlfriends, maybe it's his acting.

Did anyone else watch revenge?
Emily and Jack had no chemistry even though the writers wanted them to be end game.
I thought it was made all the more obvious due to her chemistry with both Aidan and Daniel.

Yes I've been watching Revenge on Disney Plus. Emily and Daniel were 🔥 as were Emily and Aiden! I never really felt the chemistry between Emily and Jack. He was better off with the fake Amanda character who got killed off.

mum2jakie · 13/10/2023 21:35

Although I came on the thread to say Toadie and Therese in new Amazon style Neighbours! Not a convincing match at all!

nancypowers1983 · 13/10/2023 21:50

Rory and Logan in Gilmore Girls! Never believed that love match which is a shame cos Logan (can't remember the actor's name) is great in everything else I've seen him in. He's actually great in GG too, I just thought that pairing was awful.
Rory and Jess? Now that pairing worked well!

LovelyAutumndays · 15/10/2023 00:59

When Denise and Ian were together Eastenders. She would never have gone with him.

UncleHerbie · 15/10/2023 01:11

Ian and anyone in eastenders

SadlyACupOfTeaDoesNotSolveEverything · 15/10/2023 01:12

Robert and Rachel in COBRA - it’s uncomfortable at times.

Gowlett · 15/10/2023 01:19

Rachel & Joey. Reminds me of a time years ago when I had a kiss with a friend & he asked me if he could “touch the twins”. He was firmly back in the friend-zone. We never had sex!

Moro93 · 15/10/2023 02:04

@Buffypaws I loved The Tribe! I was really young when it was on but I always thought something would happen between Amber and Lex, I think they had chemistry.

I think there’s more romantic than sexual chemistry between Buffy and Angel. I get why loads of people like the chemistry between her and Spike, but I’ve always found it a bit cringey when I watch it being older. He’s really desperate at times and she always seems a bit repulsed. The most chemistry she had was probably with Dracula 😂

I’m glad others have said Roger and Brianna, easily one of the worst ever!

Ryan and Marissa in The O.C., always really awkward around each other.

Sam and Addison in Private Practice.

Most couples in Eastenders.

Crixus and (the new) Naevia in Spartacus.

Film wise, I watched some terrible film on Netflix last night (I think it was called Love at First Sight?) and the 2 lead actors (one of them was Ben Hardy) had zero chemistry, like in minus numbers.

BoomBoom0 · 15/10/2023 03:36

Outlander Brianna and Roger. The wedding night sex scene was cringe.

BridgetJonesAsFuck · 07/10/2023 11:21

Rodney and Cassandra in Only Fools. As IF she'd have gone there!

Disagree! But then again I seem to be disagreeing with a lot of these. Maybe I'm just really gullible 😂

Didn't like Rachel and Joey together in friends but then, their lack of chemistry even became a storyline in the show - eventually they realized they were better as friends.

SophyRivenhall · 15/10/2023 21:36

@mum2jakie and @Homer28, Emily and Daniel got together during the show in real life and are now married with a child. Thus disproving Joey's theory of couples in real life not having chemistry (but plenty of other examples on this thread)!

Buffypaws · 16/10/2023 08:42

Aha yes to those saying Amber and Lex had chemistry! Amber would never though… her reputation.

SinglePringle4eva · 16/10/2023 08:43

They got together in real life not long after!

Oh wow I didn't realise that!! Definitely a hot couple then!

Gowlett · 17/10/2023 19:03

OMG, Rodney & Cassandra are one of the greatest TV couples ever! The whole Uptown Girl thing totally works.
The miscarriage scene always makes me cry, when he says it’s not her fault. Och…
Del & Raquel are a great couple, too!

Late to the party but responding to a pp... Josh and Amy were the great missed opportunity of the West Wing, I absolutely loved them together and thought they were phenomenally hot. Josh and Donna was such a let down in comparison still quite hot
