I enjoyed it. V nostalgic - even though I am not a football fan I could appreciate DBs gift and how tied up with Spice Girls / VB their pairing was a huge cultural phenomenon.
I think they were deeply compatible and besotted from the start.
However I think DB was impulsive career wise and didn’t really do his due diligence but often made rash decisions with zero consideration for his family. I can’t believe how often he moved at such short notice and how often there was ‘beef’ with managers etc.
I think watching his physical transformation from average good looking mainstream guy to an absolutely stunningly handsome man in his mid / late twenties took me by surprise.
However I don’t think VB had any ‘girl power’ - I think she tolerated an awful lot and swallowed the whole family emotional load and carried the fall-out from his rash decisions and infidelities.
I thought DB was disingenuous when he talked about VB being hurt by the press .... when it was his repeated sexually incontinent and entitled behaviour that hurt her repeatedly.
I wondered why they (she) chose to do this .... vanity project? Or something rumbling in the background so they are getting ahead of the storm?
I thought she came across as surprisingly modest but maybe a bit emotionally exhausted. Unsurprisingly.
I thought it interesting that his mum and dad were never in the same room, that his sister wasn’t in it - and that VB parents / sister were also notable by their absence.
Exp4 was called ‘What Makes David Run?’ - good question - not sure we know the answer.
I thought their final ‘Islands in the Stream’ dance routine was cringe and try hard.....
