I saw Matt's TikToks and he said he was scouted for the show and didn't apply normally. I'm surprised about that - I knew they scouted for shows like Love Island but thought they took MAFS a bit more seriously.

Really! I'm shocked they scout for MAFS. Makes a massive mockery of the point of the show. But judging by some of this year's participants I should have realised.

I listened to Lara's podcast about the Australian MAFS and it's shocking just how many of the participants were actually scouted by the production team!

Just goes to show what a farce it all is! I think the first few series were maybe taken seriously by the "experts" but the success rate has been so pitifully low since the start they have decided to go for ratings instead. Everyone knows that they aren't legal marriages now and just for show.

The first few uk ones were legal marriages I think. We saw them going to register beforehand. But then it was only 3 couples -first series 2 as 1 pulled out before meeting (and then in fact met later and dated)

But they also went to work and did normal stuff during the 8 weeks. Not many people could just have 8-12 weeks off work like that. So you had bankers and police people then.

It was so much better back then. I remember saying on a MN thread at the time that the new format would be a disaster.

In the old ones you saw the matching process in more detail, they even took DNA and tried to match along those lines, although it was deeply flawed it did look they made more of an effort. Now they are mostly looking at couples that will cause the most drama and have good storylines. No one seriously thinks they are looking at compatibility.

It's the same in this year's UK one. Basically anyone who has had work on their face has been scouted!

I don't understand why Bianca stayed crying at the table when Ella and JJ rejoined the group, why not go back to her apartment

She's young and probably did what the directors told her to do.

I have watched TikTok lives of a few of the cast and they all said that the dinner parties used to drag on for hours and hours so they all learned that they need to create enough "content" early on so they are allowed to go home at a decent hour.

Small point but does anyone else wish they'd give them proper marker pens to write 'stay' or 'leave' with, I can barely make the letters out!

I think given how obviously over produced and manipulated this series is, it’ll be the last one I watch. I haven’t really enjoyed it at all. (But once you’re in, you’re in).
The fact there’s so many previous reality show wannabes, what someone said upthread about people being scouted - it’s an ‘entertainment’ show now. Which is a shame. It used to be good.

It must be really tough for the experts. Their integrity is compromised by the producers who mismatch people to create drama, making it look as thought experts are incompetent. I bet they also manipulate and edit what the experts say. I said it before but if these producers aren’t careful there is going to be a tragedy on this show. That said I hope Bianca is receiving the support she needs and deserves. Imagine how excited she was coming on the show feeling, not only that she was going on the telly, but also that she might actually find a partner. Poor young woman.

@Ramalangadingdong totally agree re Bianca. IIRC, she said she’d had counselling previously due to a relationship breakdown, so I do hope they’ve given her appropriate support. She’s gorgeous and I wish her well.

Spotted holding hands with Tasha on a night out for his birthday on Saturday.

She's denying anything going on as she wouldn't disrespect Laura.

Other cast members went but Laura didn't

The Ella and JJ thing is a total set up, Peggy and George's she's just a wannabe, she told him off for squatting but yet wears a dress revealing her underwear??? Not very ladylike that, she is not interested in him at all.
