I think it has turned into a bog standard reality show rather than a serious experiment, which is what it seemed to be when it first started. There can be no other reason for them to have matched some of the couples.

browneyes77 · 27/09/2023 15:00

There are 3 couples they’ve matched that I think are a good match.

Shona & Brad
Jay & Luke
Tasha & Paul

No idea what they were thinking with Porscha & Terence. They couldn’t be more different. Probably just thought “ah they both have kids so we’ll stick them together” 🙄

OP posts:
MagpiePi · 27/09/2023 17:14

Shona and Brad (Babe)are giving me the ick and I think it will implode in the future.
Porscha is a pita but Terrence seems like a bit of a man child but I think he got the shitty end of the stick in that match.

browneyes77 · 27/09/2023 18:57

Oh don’t get me wrong, I’m not sold on Terence either! 🤣

But yeah the way she went at him, didn’t give him much chance to talk and just kept talking over him etc. And then she asked for a serving spoon, he offered her his and she childishly said “no thanks”. Like really? 🙄

browneyes77 · 27/09/2023 19:01

Oh as for Brad and Shona. I think they’re well suited on the surface. I can see why the experts put them together.

But there’s stuff I’ve read today in the media on how Ella supposedly kissed another groom. And that groom told her he “loved her body and mind”. And my immediate reaction was ‘that’s the exact kind of thing Brad would say!’ 🤨🤨🤔🤔

I agree. I think it's Brad too. Can't wait to find out.

browneyes77 · 27/09/2023 19:11

I know! I’m itching to find out if I’m right who it is! 😂

I love Jay and Luke and Tasha and Paul. They all seem like lovely individual people, as well as good couples. Ella is frustrating as it feels like she's putting on a loud performance rather then being herself. Brad and Shona seem well matched but so full on already, it's a bit much.

HowAboutTheLittleSpoon · 27/09/2023 19:17

Also George is a huge twat and I feel sorry for his wife (forgotten her name) as she seems to be actually looking for a happily ever after. Although she seems to want all the right answers from him, without telling him what those answers are.

And Arthur made me want to die saying "I love you" at the wedding Grin

poppetandmog · 27/09/2023 19:18

I thought the argument with George and Peggy was bizarre and seemed staged. It's just such an odd thing to argue about 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yeah I found it super odd!

She was sooo angry with him and I was just sitting there a bit “eh?” 🫤

Yeah I haven’t warmed to George much, he seems a bit irritating. But Peggy’s response when she asked him that question, was just so OTT.

Oh god the I love you thing from Arthur was so cringe!! 🫣🫣😂

I agree with all the above. I'm not convinced about Shona and Brad, it's too too obvious and too full on.

Georges is such a sweet talker and unfortunately Peggy is buying it. He was so awful in the first episode he appeared in, constantly making sexual remarks. He has no depth at all. He just tells her what she wants to hear because he likes how she looks. Urgh.

Shona & Brad at the dinner table tonight….🤢🤢

Put me right off my chicken fridge raiders 🤢🤮

Jumping on as tonight was a whirlwind.

porsha is a little bit unhinged in my opinion and honestly, childish. The way she tries to flip the situation in order to make herself look like the victim is quite scary. I agree that Terrance hasn’t exactly put his best foot forward, but I wouldn’t want to continue conversations with her either because she’s infuriating.

Shona and Brad would make me throw up. It’s all too much and the constant ‘I love you’s’ are weirding me out… it’s been like 10 days! Get a grip.

I feel sorry for Ros, Thomas (I think that’s his name) seems quite… repressed… I don’t actually think he’s attracted to her but he doesn’t want to be the bad guy by telling her. He gives me I-went-to-boarding-school-from-age-7 vibes and I think he needs 6 months of intensive therapy. I can’t believe his ex could have done THAT much of a number on him?!?! Scary!

Ella seems like a drama queen and I still don’t get why she needed to give that speech. A bit extra if you ask me. Nathaniel doesn’t seem to like her much.

Georges and Peggy don’t suit (in my opinion) so I don’t see them lasting.

I see potential in Luke and Jay, and Paul and Tasha…. Rest of them of a bust for me

Edited

100% agree about Porscha and Terence.

She’s exhausting!

Ok, so he isn’t exactly painting himself well at times etc, but the guy barely gets a word in edgeways. She speaks (or rather rants) over him at every opportunity. I don’t blame him for giving up attempting to talk to her. And her victim complex is astounding!!

But I don’t think everyone is falling for her crap. I was pleased when Luke called her out and reminded her that Terence had tried to approach her and she’d ignored him. That really caught her off guard! She wasn’t expecting to not be agreed with!

And yeah definitely agree that Tasha & Paul and Jay & Luke have the most potential.

They seem some of the most genuine people there.

I would like the programme to focus more on the compatible couples as that is what I am most interested in - I totally 'get' why they do this though.

I think Shona and Brad's behaviour is bordering on the bizarre (it seems to be coming more from her than him) and when one of the experts accused them of peacocking I thought she was spot on. Did I really hear Shona say she wanted to eat Brad's bogies?! Envy

icallitasplodge · 28/09/2023 08:52

I think it’s Brad that Ella cheats with too. Or Georges as (spoiler) I read an interview where she said she likes really masculine hetero men.

I think Peggy is controlling actually. What could he have said in the first row, he was respecting her autonomy by saying he would support her choices. In the second argument she just seemed needy as fuck. Her sister was equally out for a row at the wedding.

Terence should have just said sorry and Porscha might have calmed down. Ragging on him in front of everyone though…. Oh dear.

lalaloopyhead · 28/09/2023 08:55

I missed the first few episodes, so will need to go back and catch up, but I am loving this!
Agree Shona and Brad are just OTT, the snogging at the dinner table was so teenage like...I think that will possibly fall apart before too long.
I love Tasha and Paul, they seem to be such lovely people individually and have good energy together - so cute.
George was awful on their first episode, even his friends seemed embarrassed of him - he seems to have mellowed but is a smooth talker alright. I don't really warm to Peggy either though, she's got entitled princess vibes and in last nights episode she seemed to spend most of the time with her mouth open looking a bit gormless.
As for Porscha....well I don't know what to say!

HerAvatar · 28/09/2023 08:57

Is anyone else finding it all really 'staged' this series? It feels more like TOWIE or MIC to me this year, much more scripted than previous series.

icallitasplodge · 28/09/2023 09:25

Well Georges friend did tell the room that he (the best man) shit himself. So I don’t think his friends are great guys tbh.

Peggy licks her lips at least twice in every shot.

Very much so. I thought things were being emphasised on honeymoon that will probably become an issue further down the line.

I thought the Laura/Arthur 'vows' stuff was totally scripted. After a lovely wedding and a honeymoon in a amazing place her 'take home' was to fixate on his vows being genuine - I can understand "well that was a bit disappointing" and then move on. But it was all rounded off with him rewriting them and we had a happy ending.

I also wondered if Ella and Nat saying that they thought each other were false on camera and that they were OK off camera was to do with the production company nudging them to behave.

Hopefully this will be harder at the dinner parties and commitment ceremonies!

lalaloopyhead · 28/09/2023 10:29

Ella is also a constant lip-licker...I assume its because they have lip fillers.

Not an attractive look to me.

Yeah, I’ve thought the same at times too.

And these extra long pauses before one of them speaks/responds to whip up drama. I find it so odd. Like one of the couple will ask a question and the other sits there looking at them for ages, with dramatic music playing, before we finally hear an answer.

I know that always happens, but the long pauses seem really dragged out this year!
