My teenager has turned off Buffy part way through the episode where Joyce dies and has decided he isn't watching it again.

I remember when Will died in the Good Wife feeling quite depressed afterwards.

Am I the only person who thought Derek was an utter dick and cheered when he died?

Yeah he was knob.

Moriarty in Sherlock. Didn’t see that coming at all!

Logan in Veronica Mars.

I think I'd blocked that one out. I totally didn't see it coming.

Menojellybelly · 24/09/2023 16:02

I honestly can't even remember Logan dying. I must have blocked it out too.

Shireen in Game of Thrones. Lots of horrible deaths in that series but hers felt particularly grim. And didn't make much sense either.

shireen was dreadful but by that time we knew what GOT was about with horrible deaths of sympathetic characters so didn't find it shocking as such. Pedro Pascal getting his head squished was probably the most stressful death I've ever seen on tv.

Shane in Home and Away, teenage me sobbed.

Tara in Buffy.

Mark Green and Abby in ER.

Eddie Munson in Stranger Things, mostly thanks to Dustin, first when Eddie says to him "I think it's finally my year, I love ya man" then when he tells Eddie's Uncle how he died and says "he could have saved himself but he fought. Fought and died to protect this town. This town that hated him. He isn't just innocent Mr Munson he's a hero." Both Dds and I genuinely sob every time, DH is slightly baffled that it still catches us.

Abby didn't die! Did she?!

memoriesofamiga · 24/09/2023 17:05

Oh yes Oberyn getting his face squished was nasty. But he was a warrior, so it wasn't the same to me, as much as I wanted him to win. Shireen was a little girl kept far from any fighting and her Father had her burned to death. Her screaming was horrific.

Wash in Firefly

8misskitty8 · 24/09/2023 18:15

Red wedding GOT.

One of the early episodes of eastenders when a baby dies.

Joe mangel wife getting shot in neighbours.

As someone else posted - Adric in doctor who. The end credits were silent against a backdrop of his broken mathematics star badge.

Medlady · 24/09/2023 19:21

Sorry - it was the original Chin Ho Kelly, not the new one. Shot working undercover

It's the screaming that gets me every time. I can't wait anything above a 12 after a traumatic watching of 'the mummy' in my late twenties and a eunch being buried alive (the scratching trying to get out in the coffin/ sarcophagus)

It kept me up for months.

Bobbybobbins · 24/09/2023 21:49

Madge in Neighbours
Mrs Langingham and Leo in the West Wing
Mark and Pratt in ER

A very long time ago there was a lunchtime drama on ITV (prob called Thames TV) called The Cedar Tree about a family in a big English country house in the 1940s. I used to come home from school and watch it with my Mum and Gran.

They killed off the Mum and sister in a hotel fire - I was traumatised. All this at lunchtime, too.

Oh my goodness! I remember coming home from play school and my mum watching this. I always remember her saying it just stopped been aired one day!

peebles32 · 24/09/2023 23:13

Definitely Rachel from cold feet. I still can't listen to Coldplay without thinking about it.

Umanresources · 25/09/2023 00:29

Christopher Eccleston in Cracker. That was a brutal killing and very unexpected.

LastHives · 25/09/2023 01:01

Brody in Homeland - it was all the twitching and everyone in the final episode of Six feet Under , seeing how the characters would die. It's awful.

That's a blast from the past, I remember watching it with my gran. There was also an Aussie wartime series, The Sullivans, I think?
