A new series began tonight. Looks like more of the same: kitchen islands and eye-watering overspending ahead.

I noticed there wasn’t one too. They can’t pretend they don’t watch it because they are on a sodding tv program.

🤣🤣

Rummikub · 10/08/2023 00:36

Wasn’t it embedded into a wall by the sofas? I’m sure I saw it.

MoltenLasagne · 10/08/2023 03:19

I think the TV would normally go on the fireplace where they had a picture leaning. I imagine they took out the TV for some styling ahead of the final filming.

Someone DH knows was on Ugly House to Lovely House and said that they came and restyled his house (along with extra cushions and flouncy bits) ahead of them filming the after stuff so now I always try to spot it.

That was in Julian's VR plan. Not in the finished product.

Above the fireplace is a bad place for a TV. It is too high, the TV should be at eye level when you are sat down. Plus I don't think it is good for then to be heated up.

If that is the only place that works then it makes sense but if you are designing from scratch then you wouldn't pop it there.

Also hated the worktop being in front of the bifolds - it didn’t look like a feature from the outside it looked like a mistake

@CoolShoeshine that absolutely leapt out at me too. There really wasn’t a huge gap between the end of the worktop and the corner of the room - if it was me I could imagine cursing colourfully every single time I bumped into either side when going out carrying something, like a tray laden with food or whatever. Admittedly I’m a bit OCD about these things but it just looked…wrong. A rare misstep for Laura.

I just caught up tonight. It looked quite unfinished. Maybe the TV was still in the caravan! No view of the new master bathroom, or any of the other bedrooms. Fair enough, you may not want your kid's rooms on TV, but there was a guest room created... I'm assuming that there was a loo under the new staircase, off the boot room? Unless it was a general storage cupboard. Where do the ironing board and hoover go? Laura is usually so practical, it's unusual for her to have not had a utility and loo, especially in a family home. 28m is a long way to the toilet if you're a little kid!

I'm sure they did show the master bedroom. I think it was pink.

BiliousOhGod · 11/08/2023 17:37

Sorry - I realised my post was a bit ambiguous. They only showed the master bedroom and their en suite shower room, but no other bedroom or the family bathroom.

Halsall · 15/08/2023 20:07

Anyone watching tonight? This looks like a big challenge…..and will need a big budget…..

mrwalkensir · 15/08/2023 20:10

Is it Shaldon tonight?

Halsall · 15/08/2023 20:11

I’m aware I might be talking to myself 😂 but - a 200k budget with a 50k contingency….

Halsall · 15/08/2023 20:13

Didn’t see your post mrwalken, sorry - it’s in Devon, didn’t catch exactly where

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:15

I'm here but can't multitask

mrwalkensir · 15/08/2023 20:19

def Shaldon :)

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:20

What a lovely couple

Halsall · 15/08/2023 20:21

I think Lizzie thinks intelligently about what people need. I like the downstairs (plus, I have that green in my kitchen too)

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:31

Not sure how she can push back the retaining wall without messing up the pool

Meredusoleil · 15/08/2023 20:31

£250k budget? I'm calling £320k by the time they finish it all!!!

Meredusoleil · 15/08/2023 20:33

I didn't understand that either!

What is Damien doing with the original ground floor, if everything is moving up? Or is he switching the floors round, so the bedrooms are on the ground floor?

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:36

I assume bedrooms are downstairs

Halsall · 15/08/2023 20:36

Damion's sounds pretty pricey too. And I'm not keen on those walkways perched on the edge of the pool.

Did he just say 'an arrival experience'?

Meredusoleil · 15/08/2023 20:38

I think Damian's certainly has the wow factor, like it usually does. But its very much holiday home style rather than a home for everyday life imho.

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:41

"hello mama!"

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:46

2 Walkways unnecessary. Save money and just have one

BruceAndNosh · 15/08/2023 20:55

I'd go for Damions, with lizzies front exterior chsnges
