Place your bets for how many years out of date the storylines in the title will be by the end of the thread… 😁

some people may not know @HurdyGurdy19 this may be their first time watching

Tourist29 · 12/07/2023 12:31

Has Harry left now? Bizarre exit - “have you seen an envelope?”
”I didn’t steal it, I’m leaving”

Felt like a rush job, like when someone has a personality transplant. At least he won’t have to listen to Shelley anymore.

kannnet96 · 12/07/2023 19:02

Surely there wouldn't need to be any sort of service for Richard

It confused me as well. Did Fred then find the envelope to buy the bench? Where did he find it?

buzz91 · 12/07/2023 23:25

Peter thought it was part of the takings and took it to the bank with the actual takings.

I’m not really sure what the point of this storyline was, because looks like Harry’s back. Maybe to give a reason as to why Harry is just a cleaner again, rather than doing everything and being left in sole charge of the pub/locking up etc? Might be paving the way for someone else to need to be employed there?

I watched really sporadically when this was originally on and although can remember some bits, can’t remember timings

OnTheBoardwalk · 13/07/2023 09:03

Thanks @buzz91 I couldn’t bring myself to rewatch the episodes again to find out

the Harry story makes no sense at all and the Peter storyline is a farce

eggandonion · 13/07/2023 19:10

I have edited Harry out of my memory. I don't remember him at all.
Peter has had a very complicated life.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 13/07/2023 20:37

I love the Peter storyline because of how utterly ridiculous it is.

TennisWithDeborah · 13/07/2023 21:56

I think I remember Harry in the factory, sweeping. Not sure though!

Katy is such a sourpuss but it’s understandable that a 16yo would miss her friends after the family had to flee following an attempt on their lives. And now the diabetes! Poor girl. I can see why she fell for Martin, I think.

Looking forward to Bev’s arrival. And Tracy’s pregnancy, which must be imminent - Amy was born just after one of my DCs in early 2004. ….we’re approaching Easter 2003 now, Lucy mentioned Good Friday.

Speaking of my DCs, I completely understand Eileen’s concern about Todd and Sarah now that I have kids in their late teens. At the time, I wrongly thought she was being snobbish.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 13/07/2023 23:51

I’m a few days behind so am just watching Richard’s last stand… how has it taken me 20 years to work out why they chose a song by The Wannadies?!

Wannadies = wanna die 😳

Tracy's pregnancy means one of my favourite scenes will be coming up soon when Roy stays over night at the Barlows.

TennisWithDeborah · 14/07/2023 00:20

Oh that was hilarious!

Ken: “cup of tea?”

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 14/07/2023 05:02

God I couldn’t stand the Roy Tracey storyline. So stressful! I might have to switch off for that.

buzz91 · 14/07/2023 14:02

@CorporaINobbyNobbs me neither, I shall fast forward at speed, so cringey!

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 14/07/2023 17:26

I just got a flashback when it came up in my Amazon Music auto shuffle - Tommy Nelson/Harris is the unappreciative husband in the video for Lisa Stansfield’s “All Woman”!

Same here, I'll have to fast forward, poor Roy 😔

LilyAndTheKing · 20/07/2023 12:07

When Tommy turned up at the garage and had a (nother) go at Tyrone, Kevin popped his head out and said "what's going on Gary?"...to Tommy 😂 I rewound to be sure.

thenightsky · 20/07/2023 18:03

I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed Surranne Jones's scenes. She's an ace snotty cryer.

Tourist29 · 20/07/2023 18:11

Clare’s arrived! Didn’t realise it was so close to Maxine’s demise. The order in which I dislike the Harris family: daughter, dad, mum, son.

FeltCarrot · 20/07/2023 18:49

Katie really is a sulky madam isn’t she.

FeltCarrot · 20/07/2023 18:50

And has a terrible dress sense.

CorporaINobbyNobbs · 20/07/2023 23:27

Katie is so annoying.

I think it probably feels that way as the episodes are so compressed. I think every four episodes equals about a week in real time. I can't remember when they went from three episodes a week to four and then five.

WomanStanleyWoman2 · 21/07/2023 09:23

I think at this point they were at five episodes a week most weeks. You can tell from the shorter opening credits that some of the episodes would have originally been shown in the 8.30 slot.
