Oops Mae dropped off. Molly-Mae

No Molly, just Mae.

Spudlet · 15/05/2023 10:34

Well I’ve just added Cha Cha Cha onto my playlist - can’t say I’m intending to add Tattoo onto there although I may change my mind later… I am going to rewatch the Finnish performance on YouTube with DS later though as I think he may love it 😂

Willmafrockfit · 15/05/2023 10:40

but the woman from Armenia who came 20th in last year's eurovision has made a success, from tiktok, she was surrounded by loo paper, it looked like, she is now supporting Ed Sheeran!

Somebody tell Mae before she burns all her bridges!

Probably tells you all you need to know..... forgettable 😂

Now Poe Poe Poe Poe Poe....... on the other hand 🤪

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 15/05/2023 11:12

Latvia, Australia and Belgium are on my liked songs list on Spotify now. There are more that I liked, but these are my
favourites.

I've all sorts of ear worms going on though:)

Cattenberg · 15/05/2023 12:27

I still listen to Voila by Barbara Pravi (came second in 2021). Brilliant song and performance. The Swiss entry that year was also very good.

I expect some of this year’s songs will grow on me.

FuzzyCaoraDhubh · 15/05/2023 12:30

Same, Cattenberg. I listen to her often. She's great. Just gone back there to add more liked songs from EV23 :)

@oops2

Some not very nice comments about appearance/looks here saying Molly and Loreen were 'unattractive'. Quite harsh and either way untrue. I, for one (and I'm older), would have killed to have a figure like Loreen at 39!!!

Because 39 is sooooo old? Confused

Agree though, comments aimed at their appearance were awful.

The worst song IMO was poe poe poe poe poe. Hmm (Austria.) Dreadful ditty. The UK's song should have been above THAT one, AND the German one! Yet it came 15th. Whilst the UK's song, and Germany's song were 25th and 26th.

I did dislike the awful Lily-Allen-esque rap in Mae Muller's song though, that sounded so BRI-ISH. Could have done without that bit for sure.

StBernie · 15/05/2023 13:02

I guess I must fit the average because I loved Sweden, Finland and Israel! I’ve rewatched cha cha cha a couple of times already, it’s so entertaining!

Did anyone else really like those twins from the first semi final? Azerbaijan I think? I was disappointed they didn’t get through.

WhotheHellisEdgar · 15/05/2023 13:07

The worst song IMO was poe poe poe poe poe. (Austria.)

You know what they say "nowt so queer as folk" 😉

It's nice we all like different things, makes the voting more exciting 😁

Vikingthings · 15/05/2023 13:14

So, those who liked Finland - please state your demographics please?

In my 30s with 2 children.

I was just looking at the public votes for each country. Finland got mostly 12s, some 10s. Sweden didn't get a single 12 and mostly lower numbers.

Personally I think Finland should have won, I would have also been happy with Norway winning or being runner up. I don't think Sweden deserved the win this year, I can't remember the song at all and I've listened to it multiple times. The only Swedish win I can clearly remember (other than Abba) is the one called Heroes which must have been mid 00s? I can still sing the chorus to that and haven't heard it for years.

Anyway, it is what it is now and I hope Kaarija does well out of his public popularity, I'm sure it won't be long until he is touring Europe.

Out of interest, are you Finnish?

I'm A LOT older than 39!! But even at 39 I would have killed for her figure. I never had a figure like that tbf. 😂

MrsTerryPratchett · 15/05/2023 14:14

Everyone here loved the Finnish entry. Two boring marrieds in their 50s plus a tween. Not Finnish! And the whole backstage/Helsinki airport afterwards does make him seem very sweet. I love a good underdog.

SoupDragon · 15/05/2023 14:27

Perhaps they need two winners. An overall winner (in this case Sweden) and a People's Choice (Finland)

Maerchentante · 15/05/2023 14:38

I listen to a German station and they interviewed the German commentator earlier. He has done 25 years of Eurovision, this year was his last.
He could not understand that Sweden had won as the song was "bland and boring" and believed it should have gone Finland's way.

But he also said that the points allocation is extremely unfair, the juries should allocate points for each country in the final, 1 for the worst up to 26 for the best. That way it would be a little fairer.
That probably wouldn't have helped the UK or Germany much, but what if you come on #13 on the jury vote?

A former participant for Germany suggested that maybe they should send a team that has a complete nonsense song or one that is about the "political voting".

I like that idea, it would remove “nil points” but probably end up with fairer scores.

I was thinking about this, to be fair because a lot of people were whining about Britain's low points, not getting the fact that ONLY the top ten per vote get points. Miss the top ten, and it's nothing, whether you came 11th or 26th.

Mind you, I'm not sure it would help seeing Britain get lots of 26-22 rankings!
